Truth and Promises
I ran as fast as I could, not minding the branches that hit me. My heart pounded as I felt more Werewolves trailing me. I’m a powerless Witch. I don’t have powers to protect me. I only have my sixteen years of hard work skills to defend myself.I took a leap and reached for a higher branch but as soon as my feet touched the branch, it made a cracking sound before the branch gave up.Everything happened so fast that I didn’t even realize that I’m falling from a thirty-foot tree. I groaned in so much pain as I felt my back hit a branch. Then I fell to another branch and then another. I was hit multiple times. I thought I would be able to remain conscious but then I felt a hard hit on my head and everything went black. My body could feel the terrifying serene loneliness. But when I felt the darkness devour me, I saw a light. It was so faint. Almost impossible to see even in this gloom. With my weak composure, I tried to run to that light, hoping to be saved. I was so close. I could touch the light until I saw him.I saw the Alpha. As if I didn’t want to see him, my eyes opened. I gasped for air immediately. I coughed a couple times that I even saw blood coming out of my mouth. It took a while for me to calm down. I waited for my vision and hearing to clear. Everything just seemed so blurry and all I could hear are murmurs from different voices.I swallowed hard when I realized I’m in a chair. My wrist and ankles were on chains. I blinked a couple times and slowly raised my head.I felt so heavy and lightweight at the same time. But then I immediately regret even opening my eyes. I froze when my eyes met the coldest pair of eyes in front of me. He’s sitting on his throne, legs wide apart, looking down at me like I’m his slave. And I’m bound to obey him. I couldn’t look at him for too long when I saw a pair of hands clanged onto his arms. Nails were long and sharp. The color of blood printed on it.“She’s awake,” I heard a voice behind me.That’s when I realized I’m in a court room. It was filled with Werewolves, surrounding me in their perspective seats. In front of me was the Alpha and the other officials in their community.I’m in the middle, chained and in excruciating pain. I felt two Werewolves just beside me.My head remaining lowered until I felt a familiar presence enter the room. My head rose and saw a middle-aged woman staring straight at me.She’s a Witch, my mind thought. But what is she doing here?“A Witch. I could smell her from the entrance. She could be a Warrior Witch. Might be a spy or assassin. Or worst, both.”She slowly headed to a machine a meter away from me. I saw her took a small bottle from her purse and dropped a few solutions into the machine. I watched as the machine reacted to the liquid. It gave an electric blue glow and its wires immediately glowed with it. My heart hammered inside my chest as I realized that the wires glow was slowly heading to me. I looked at my chains and I think I was just slapped with reality.I’m in an electric chair.“I added a few drops of Esthene. People call it sometimes as a Blood of Witch because a few drops can kill a Witch like you.”Now, I’m in grave danger. I immediately thought of a way to escape. I didn’t have time to listen to what they’re talking about.“I said, state your name!”I snapped back to reality. I swallowed hard as I remained still. I don’t have any intentions of speaking.“I repeat. State your name.”I didn’t say a word and the next thing I knew, I felt the small but hundreds of fires of electricity sipping through my veins like draining my blood. Now, I understand why it’s called Blood of Witch. It dries out your blood until nothing is left.“Again, I repeat. State your name.”If I won’t speak, I’ll end up dead here.“S-sette... Sette V-val... Sette Val.”They must not know that I’m a Dival. If they’ll find out about my true identity then it would risk my sisters.“Let me handle this. She’s a Witch. It will be hard for you to squeeze information from her. One way to let a Witch speak is through another Witch,” the middle-aged woman intervened. She continued. “Sette Val, right? She’s a Warrior Witch. Born into lower class. You follow orders from higher ranks. Now tell me, who do you work for?”I smirked at her. I saw the symbol on her neck. The symbol of a Warrior Witch.“So, you’re a Warrior Witch too?”“Answer my question.”“I don’t work for anyone.”I will not be spilling any tea.“Impossible. Warrior Witches work for the Nobles and Elites. They do the dirty work for them. Were you ordered to kill the Alpha?”My face had a blank expression as I looked at her.“I don’t know.”“You need to tell us the truth or else you’ll end up dying here.”“I don’t care.”I know they won’t kill me. If they do, it’ll be hard for them to investigate. They need me now.“Cooperate and we will set you free, unharmed,” the Alpha in front of us spoke.I glanced at him but then broke our eye contact. I shrugged my shoulders, not believing a word from him.“Unharmed? Can you see my bruises? Or you’re just blind? I’m already bleeding around my body. Why not finish it? I mean--,”I didn’t get to finish my sentence when I felt a strong slap on my face. The pain eventually spread like wildfire throughout my cheek. I felt blood dripping from my nose. Great.“Who are you to answer to the Alpha like that?! You must know your place, Witch!” the woman beside him glared at me.My lips curled to a smile.“The Alpha’s words don’t align to my condition right now. And, oh, I just got slapped,” I stated the obvious.“Open that filthy mouth of yours and you will—"I cut her off. I felt blood boiling just seeing her arms wrapped around him.“What?”“Slap her!”With that words of hers, I braced myself with the pain. Eventually, the other side of my cheek was slapped. It was hard that I thought my jaw was dislocated for a moment. My head than felt dizzy for a while.“This is enough. I’ll interrogate her myself.”That was the only thing I heard before I felt someone unchain me. My head was still spinning around from the slap.I breathed heavily as I felt myself being dragged somewhere.“What i-is happening?” I weakly asked. The guards eventually slid me to one of the cold cells. They dropped me like trash and all I could feel right now are my dizzy head and the coldness of the cell. There was a moment of silence before I finally lost consciousness. I slept deeply like I never slept for a thousand years. I only woke up when I caught the scent of medicine. My eyes crumpled as I opened it slowly. The room was still dark and cold. But something felt different. My gaze moved to the side where I felt my arms wrapped with something. My eyes widened as I saw the man taking care of me.“The questions were easy yet you couldn’t answer them. You wouldn’t have to suffer too much if you just told us the truth,” he spoke like he knew I was awake. My lips moved to say something but then no words could escape my mouth. My lips pursed as he raised his gaze to me. I froze, locked into his pitch-black eyes.“Just tell me the truth and I won’t hurt you. That’s a promise.”Punishment I pulled my hand from him. I rose from bed. I winced as I felt my healing bruises around my body. My eyes surveyed around the room I am in. It’s a totally different room from the cold cell I knew. And as if he knew the question in my mind, he explained why I’m here. “This will be the interrogating room. At the same time, this is where you will stay.”“You shouldn’t be here with me.” My head remained lowered as he spoke. “And why is that?” “Shouldn’t you know that I can kill you here in a snap?”“Shouldn’t you know that your body is not in the right condition to kill an Alpha?” he came back at me.I smirked unconsciously. I looked around. The room is painted with gold on the walls. Furnitures were antique yet classic. Even the bed sheets felt premium something a slave shouldn’t have. The room is wide and spacious. Doesn’t look like a prison cell for an assassin. “Too fancy for a slave,” I whispered but he still heard it. “I found out something…” I immediately felt m
SavedI laughed remembering Lane’s offer yesterday. I shook my head as I turned off the shower. I finished taking a bath and even the interior of the bathroom looked like one of those in a five-star hotel. Of course, I laughed so hard that day that he left this room without any information from me. But after all the laughter and giggles, I felt cold. It made me wonder why he wanted me to be his Luna. Is the pill not working anymore? I eyed my body in front of the mirror. I looked for a possible mark but there was none. “Chill. He’s just joking yesterday.” As much as I want it out of my mind, I can’t stop thinking if he noticed me as a mate. I’m sure that no Marking happened between us. Then my face heated thinking about his offer. I wrapped my body with a small towel and went outside of the room. I stopped from my tracks when I saw Lane sitting on my bed watching my every move like a lion staring at its prey. “What the hell?!”Immediately, I covered my body with my arms even whe
Like Moth Following the FlameI rested my back on the headboard of the bed. I let the doctors examine me as my head remained lowered. My eyes were fixed on my fidgeting fingers. I just woke up after the attack. After Vicki shot me. And I… saved Lane. It’s still a big question in my head that I saved Lane. I came here for his death but why on earth did I thought of saving him? I never had the guts to raise my head until I felt a familiar presence enter the room. I slowly raised my gaze to confirm the assumption in my head. I froze the moment I saw Vicki. I swallowed the lump on my throat as I followed her every move. She’s dressed in a nurse’s uniform and naturally attended to the doctors as she carried a platter of medicine. And just behind Vicki, a saw a pair of cold and intriguing eyes. I hitched my breath as I stared at Lane’s deep eyes. I couldn’t even last more than five seconds adoring his eyes when I looked away. I felt the shivers on my spine with just that cold look of Lan
Confusing HeartMy back felt the soft mattress as Lane pinned me on the bed. I couldn't care less of what was happening around me anymore. How is my marking gone suddenly? How am I giving in this quickly? My body was just to fixated to his kisses that sent shivers on my spine. A moan just escaped from my lips when I felt his hand cupped my breast gently. My breathing ragged mountains as I felt the touch of his hand slowly approaching my wet folds. I didn't even know my jeans were already unzipped! And like a moth following the flame, I didn't care is I was burning with his every touch. I didn't care at all! I just kissed back and touch him all over his body. My hand travelled to his shirt. I didn't like the way our clothes were separating our skin. I want to feel him. I want feel his warmth and just be filled with him. "Slowly," he chuckled. My fingers were already shaking from unbuttoning his jeans. My patience were slowly ripping second by second. I didn't even realize he was
Cursed DreamThis shouldn't be a question at all! Putting me to the battle field? Letting me touch a weapon when they accused me of killing Lane which is kinda true. If they let me outside of my room, go to the war, defend, I might just kill Lane. But of course, the only reason why I'm not going outside of my room was just to avoid him. I don't know if the pill was not working anymore but... I'm feeling something I shouldn't be feeling. I diverted my eyes from Lane when I felt his hot gaze burning me. "Convince me all you want but I'm not going anywhere out of this room," I started. Silence remained in the room. It was the awkward silence that I don't want to experience. "Okay. Amara, can you leave us for a moment?" My eyes widened at Lane's words. "You can't c-convince me, Lane," my voice broke. I'm suddenly feeling the chills with the idea of me and Lane, alone in one room. "I'll just leave.""Amara," my voice raised. She looked at me with questions in her eyes. She's getti
“Take my hand.”I looked at Lane’s relaxed hand as it reached out to me. I just shook my head and boarded the ship. I saw Amara smirked when I got inside in one of the cabins.I didn’t know that to go to the battle grounds, we needed to take a ship. Just outside the main base was already a wreck and to know that the real war happening is just on another island makes me think that I should prepare for the worse. My eyes took a glance at Lane. I caught him looking at me but he eventually cut the eye contact. He cleared his throat and I watched how his adams apple followed his hard swallow.“We’ll arrive there around three in the afternoon. I’ll just brief you first before I put you in the grounds.”I nodded.“I thought I was gonna do the briefing?” Amara asked.Lane looked like he just realized something. After a while, he just nodded slowly.“Sure,” he said before leaving the cabin. My lips pouted. He seems weird. I turned to Amara and saw her smiling at the door where Lane left. I sta
Explosion Lane called for someone from his men earlier. He had his forehead creased and brows furrowed as he discussed something with that man. I bit the insides of my cheeks.I couldn’t understand myself. So, what? So, what if he doesn’t want to brief me? Do I have to feel this way? I get that he wants to lose his interest in me but I just feel so bothered by it when I shouldn’t be.I waited for their conversation to finish. When I saw the other guy leave the room, I looked at Lane confusingly. He sighed heavily before he spoke.“I’ll brief you. Follow me.”I just pursed my lips. do I have to complain? If I would, it would only extend my stay here. I watched his broad shoulders as I followed him. He gave me gears. He handed me a bulletproof vest before we entered an elevator.I silently stood beside him. My eyes then slowly looked at his reflection on the elevator. His were straight and not even budging to look at me. I sighed inwardly and just waited for the elevator to reach the r
Fragile HeartsI tried to rush out off the ship but Amara pulled me back. My mind just got clouded with the bombs and explosion I’m hearing right now. I turned to Amara and I’m reading her lips because I couldn’t hear every word she said.My breathing ragged every second. I shook my head slowly, not processing what Amara is saying.“Sette! Sette! Sette! Listen to me.”“A-Amara… Lane… Lane…”“Calm down, okay? They’re fine. Nobody is hurt, okay?”I nodded when and closed my eyes tightly. I feel my blood rushing out of me. I feel my body heating up and the pain in my thigh is starting to weaken me.“We n-need to go back,” I hugged Amara when I felt my body giving up.“Yes, we go back.”“To L-Lane…”Amara brushed my back gently as I continued to catch for air.“No. It’s not safe.”“But—”“We need to go b-back. Please…”“Hush…”When we clasped from our hug and the moment Amara saw my pale face, she gasped. My vision started to get distorted and I couldn’t see clearly anymore. My mouth ran
