Chapter 28

The second awakening.

Aurora’s POV

The ground shook again, louder and stronger.

I couldn’t move. I froze. My heart pounded inside my chest like a drum. My face still burned from the slap, and my head spun from everything Alina revealed to me. But something inside me started to stir.

Alina tried to keep her balance. She held the glowing chain tight, her eyes locked on me.

“What… what is happening?” she grounds out, visibly angry at whatever this she thought I was pulling.

But I felt it. A heat. A fire deep inside me. My chest glowed. Not from pain. However from something else. Something alive. Something pooling inside me!

“Stop…” I whispered. I held my head. “Stop, something is wrong. Something is…”

A sharp crack like lightning. Although it didn’t come from the sky. It came from me.

“Ahh!” I screamed as something inside me broke.

It wasn’t my bone. It wasn’t my body. I think it was the seal. I didn’t know how I knew, but I knew. The thing inside me….the thing mom tried to h

Chapter 44Marek’s POVI couldn’t take it anymore. I had waited long enough for that useless investigator. I called him again and again, but he didn’t answer. Not one word. No call back. No message. Nothing. Days had passed, and still no update. I kept thinking—what if Kaine was my brother? What if all this time I had been trying to destroy someone who shared the same blood with me?And that was exactly the reason I needed the son-of-a-bitch answers. If he had something that could throw more light into what Elena said, that might be helpful. I didn't want to feel guilty if I ended up killing Kaine and then later found out he was my blood. I'd hate myself forever. Yes, he was my rival and we've done terrible things to each other but killing each other, to be honest, wasn't really in my agenda. And even though he was my brother doesn't mean we won't still be rivals. He did me dirty, he betrayed me and lost all right to still be my brother and friend. But then, I shook the thought off. N

CHAPTER 43Marek’s POVI sat there staring at the screen with the remote in my hands as I contemplated listening to Elena's order. Why would she ask me to turn the TV on? Was something interesting happening that I know nothing of? But surprisingly my heart was beating fast.Elena’s voice still echoed in my ears. “Turn on the news,” she had said. The way she said it… it wasn’t normal. It wasn’t just a comment. It felt like a warning. Or maybe a threat. Or maybe something was going to happen and it concerned me. And she wanted me to see it.I dropped my phone on the table without even looking at it again, shaking the thought of calling her to ask what she meant. I didn’t want to hear her voice anymore. I picked up the remote and turned the volume up. The news channel was already talking. The headline running across the screen made my eyes go

CHAPTER 42MAREKI sat alone in my study. The lights were low and the curtains were closed. My eyes stayed fixed on the laptop screen in front of me. The file had just finished downloading. I clicked it open. My heart was beating a little faster than usual. My fingers hovered over the touchpad for a moment before I pressed play. I had finally gotten my hand on the documentary that had featured Aurora and wasn't sure if I'd be disappointed or right.I found the courage and clicked on the documentary and it started. It looked like a short clip but contained a lot about the place it was taken. More of like a city documentary highlighting the important places for maybe tourists or the indigene for awareness. The sound was clear and the video was great. My heart thundered loudly as it began approaching the part where it had featured Aurora. My breath caught as it got there and Aurora appeared. I immediately clicked on the pause button and leaned further into my chair to take in her appeara

CHAPTER 41KAINE I sat in my ruined office, breathing in the silence that followed after Elena’s words. Was she seriously suggesting this to me? That I should go after Marek? It doesn't sound like a bad idea but doing that would just make us clash often. He might term it as me being jealous of PrimeTech withdrawing the contract from my company to his.And besides the thug who had demolished my building had said I was constructing one in a place that wasn't mine. Does that mean it was his territory? I don't care about that. He could have just informed me himself and given me an ultimatum to demolish the building myself. But instead he went ahead and did it.“Hire goons, Kaine,” she had said. Her voice still rang in my head. She stood by the door now, waiting for my answer. Her arms were still crossed, her expression calm but strong.I looked around at the mess I had made. Paper files scattered the floor, there was broken glass from the lamp I had thrown to the floor, chairs on the sid

CHAPTER 40Hire goons – says Elena Kaine’s POV“Sir… they said PrimeTech pulled out this morning. They sent an official email and also removed our partnership post from their site,” my assistant said just moments ago after I settled in the office.I didn’t even let her finish before I stood up.“What do you mean PrimeTech pulled out? That contract was already signed. The board already approved it. What kind of joke is this?” I asked, my voice rising. She looked nervous and stepped back away from me. “They didn’t say much. Just that they’re no longer going forward with the partnership. No clear reason, sir.”I slammed the files she handed me hard on my desk. The sound echoed in the room and my assistant flinched. I was breathing hard as my chest rose and fell fast in anger. My jaws were clenched. I felt like screaming but I couldn't act on the thought as I still had to remain professional. I kicked the chair beside me, and it hit the wall with a loud bang."And did they say who the co

  • Bloodbound    A new home

Chapter 39Aurora’s POVI wiped the table with a clean towel and glanced at the clock on the wall. My shift at the restaurant was almost over. The place was quieter than usual, and I liked it that way. No fake Alina to my side, gishing me wide smiles and offering to help me.It had been weeks since our fight. I tried not to think about it anymore. I pushed the memory far back in my mind.I didn’t go back to the small room in the restaurant. I couldn’t. It reminded me too much of that night. It reminded me of the things we both shared of the memories we'd created in the room. The way she always looked at me and offered her help, the talks she gave me and the spell books she brought to me to study. I could've just returned to the building at the outskirts of the town but that's where we had our last fight and besides that, the building had crashed under the weight of my power. So I left.I took all the money I had saved from working. I counted it three times. Then I looked for a place.
