01: Colic in trash (part 1)

(25 years ago from the prologue)

"WHAT THE FUCK?! KILL THEM!"

The governor's shaking voice echoed in the abandoned warehouse. Fear slowly appeared visible in his eyes when he saw how those people in black were swiftly kicking, punching, and throwing his men in the air.

Sanguis pouted while effortlessly avoiding weak punches from his opponent. He had already knocked down over twenty men in just a minute, without even a bit of sweat going out from his sweat glands.

He chuckled when the man started to form an attacking stance like a boxer, while bouncing front and back.

"You're laughing because you know that I'm going to beat you up badly, aren't you?" he even cracked his neck.

Sanguis shrugged his shoulders, "I'm your enemy, but you keep on punching the air." He shook his head, "You're confusing me, brother."

"Ahh!" his enemy shouted and started to fly while throwing a side kick.

He just stepped to the right and his enemy flew directly at the trash bin by himself. Sanguis shrugged again and stretched. He will definitely beat Vino later. He expects that this mission will be more exciting.

Sanguis leaned on the railing where he could watch his wife beating all the men who blocked her way to the governor on the ground floor. Since childhood, his wife never missed her training, and judging her swift moves knocking down the men who is double her size, he can say those hardships she faced paid well.

His eyes widened when Estrella suddenly looked at him after breaking that huge man's neck. She lifted her eyebrows and put her hands at her waist.

Of course. Sanguis is here to watch her die, and not to help her.

Estrella shook her head and kicked the man at her left, trying to grab her feet. She used the pile of men she knocked down as a ladder and threw an over ten kilogram trash bin like nothing.

She stood, crossing her arms over her chest, in front of the governor. He was holding a gun using his shaky hands.

"Don't step any further! I... I'm going to shoot you!"

"Go, then."

"Are you crazy, Estrella?!" her husband yelled from upstairs. She picked up a pointed metal and threw it in Sanguis' direction, but he caught it easily.

He showed a silly smile to his wife, but it changed to a annoyed grunt when he saw three more men slowly walking towards him. They're indeed more massive than him.

The one from the left attacked first and he knocked it down instantly by hitting his nape using the metal he was holding. The other two ran to him quicker than the other men he knocked down.

Sanguis jumps high when they're about to touch him. He stabbed the man at the center on his back. The last man gulped, shocked how fast he attacked and defended.

When his feet touched the metal flooring, he peeked at his wife. Estrella was already sitting on the governor's fresh corpse. She pointed his left.

"This mission is really lame!" Sanguis stabbed the last man on his neck.

He slurped the blood splattered on his face. Sanguis nodded when he tasted the blood of the last man, it's sweet.

"You're just forced to do this?" he asked the corpse. He bent his knees to dip his finger on its blood and tasted it again. "I'm sorry, then. We have different timelines."

"What are you doing?" Estrella asked when she got to her husband's place. She saw him dipping his finger at that man's blood.

Sanguis stood and walked closer to her and wiped the blood on her lips. She cleaned her mouth using her tongue and tasted sweet blood.

Her brows furrowed while peeking at their dead enemy, "He was kind and pure? Is he forced?"

His husband nodded.

She was about to speak again when someone yelled their lungs out all of a sudden.

"WHO TOLD YOU TO KILL THE GOVERNOR?!"

And they're right. It's Vino, their over-dramatic co-worker and friend... perhaps?

They both flew to the ground floor to greet the other part of ther organization. Mila, the co-head of this mission, sighed deeply while observing the entire warehouse.

"Chill. The governor is still breathing... if you're going to meditate his shot immediately," Estrella announced. She pointed the pile of men at their backs, "Some of them are just unconscious."

"Almost all of the dead were actually kind..." Victoria, the most quiet, but dangerous, sighed after tasting the blood from her finger.

Sanguis brushed his hair using his hand, "They're probably forced. You can't blame us, they're going to leave an ugly scar on us if we let them beat us– ah!" he exclaimed when Estrella hit his nape.

"By the way, how about the money and drugs? Did you get it?" Estrella asked Mila, who was busy collecting blood from the corpses.

Mila pointed to the van outside using her mouth, "Victoria and Vino did the work." She shook her head in stress, "Vino sucked. Blood from one of the maids there. He's really such a headache!"

"Hey!" Vino shouted when he heard his name from the two girls' conversation. He wiped the blood from his mouth, "I was thirsty, okay? And err, her blood tastes so bitter." He even retched.

"I almost forgot–" Sanguis suddenly head locked Vino. "You told me that this mission would be more exciting! You liar!"

"Ah, ah! Let go of me!" Vino tried his best to free his head from Sanguis' biceps. "If I didn't lie you would never do that! I have no choice, okay?!"

"Sanguis, stop it." Estrella tamed her husband.

Sanguis let go of Vino's head while pouting. Vino gave him a death glare, but he raised his fist like he was going to punch him, so like Vino.

They look like kids trying to pick a fight over a small thing.

"Guys..."

Victoria's voice caught all their attention. They all flew upstairs to where Victoria was. She's pointing at the fangs of one of the deads. Vino gasped dramatically, while Sanguis cursed under his breath. Estrella and Mila, on the other hand, kneel to observe closely.

"Move back, Victoria. If he's a vampire, there's a chance that he's still alive," Vino warned his twin sister, but she just shook her head.

Victoria looked at Sanguis, "You killed him, right?"

"How did you know?" Sanguis confusedly asked her.

Vino hit his nape, "Stupid! Victoria can see something has happened in the past by touching it. You forgot it?!"

The corners of Sanguis' lips rose up, "It's my first time to work with her!"

"Shut up, you two!" Estrella exclaimed. She sighed and looked at death's neck. "Dagger."

"He's from Oscuridad," Mila whispered. "Wait, they're on the move again?"

All of them enveloped in silence. They knew that Luna Kingdom, where Sanguis is from, had already eliminated Oscuridad over a century ago. The other Vampire Kingdoms are already at peace after their downfall.

How come that there's still a vampire in front of them from Oscuridad?

"Hon," Estrella addressed her husband, "Your Kingdom won over the Oscuridad, right?"

"Yes. I'm sure that there were no more alive vampires back then, because I'm one of those vampires who attacked them." Sanguis tsked while rubbing his chin using his thumb while looking at the dead vampire. "Maybe it was one of the vampires who escaped before we attacked them."

"W-Woah!" Vino shouted when the dead vampire's body slowly turned into ash.

Victoria sighed, "Luckily you stabbed him directly to his heart."

Mila clapped her hands to get their attention.

"Alright, Victoria and Vino, drop the drugs, money, and the governor's body at the police station nearby. Vino, please behave!" Mila pleaded.

Vino scoffed, "What am I? A kid?"

"Yes." His co-workers answered him in sync.

He clenched his chest, "You're rude! No blood wine for you all! Hmp!" Vino marched and flew to the ground floor to get the governor's body like he was lifting an empty backpack.

"W-What..." The governor murmured when Vino lifted him.

Vino rolled his eyes and scoffed, "Just sleep, okay?" He punched the governor's face to knock it down.

"So cruel," Victoria commented while fixing all the evidence they gathered. Those are enough to put this soulless governor in a cell.

Mila gave a folder to the couple. Sanguis received it, a smirk automatically showed on his face when he read the document.

"Next, the owner of Hordes Hospital. Her name is Freda Folier. A chemist and surgeon. Madame Haine originally assigned this mission to Yrino's team, but they refused."

Estrella tilted her head to the side because of what she heard, "Why? Yrino has never refused a mission before."

"Well, it just happened that Yrino had a huge crush on Freda—"

"Yuck!" Estrella and Sanguis reacted in sync.

Mila chuckled, "It's so disgusting, right? Anyway, he can't kill this person, so the highest assigned this to you."

"Kill?" Sanguis echoed Mila's words, "We can kill her?"

"After reading the cruelty she did to innocent kids and other people for her own satisfaction and craziness, does she still deserves to live?" Mila shrugged.

The couple run their eyes through the second page where they can see how evil Freda is. Estrella's jaw dropped after discovering Freda's doings for the past years.

Mila tapped both of their shoulders. "Finish the mission tonight. Freda will deliver a new set of poisons abroad tomorrow morning. Destroy her lab, get the money, and save the kids."

"We will take care of this," Sanguis assured.

Estrella is still not on herself. She can't process the information she received. She's not a mother yet, but she definitely knows how devastated the parents of those kids are.

"Humans... they're evil..." she whispered. Her hands formed a fist while trying to control her emotions.

She can't get why Freda would do such horrible things to children if she's also a mother? Is she already numb to feel anything? To feel sympathy for those kids?

Sanguis assisted his wife to sit. He knelt down and wiped the tears streaming down her cheeks, "Put yourself together, Estrella. You know what happens if you let your emotions control you."

She shook her head agressively. Her lower lip could bleed because she was biting it for too much.

"No. I don't understand why she needs to kill her patients in the operating room and take the organs from kids' bodies into a poison for money?!" Estrella whimpers. "She- She's supposed to save them, Sanguis! Freda is also a mother! How could she do evil things!?"

Sanguis couldn't help but to hug his wife. It's the only way he knows to comfort her. He understood why Estrella was acting like that. He also felt so mad after reading that information.

They stayed in that position for a while, until Estrella stood up. She wiped the tears left on her cheeks and sighed deeply.

"Let's go."

Sanguis just sighed and followed her. Both of them are silent on their way to Hordes Hospital. Sanguis is uncomfortable in the atmosphere inside their car because of Estrella's silence. He used to tease her every time they were in the car, but his life was in line when he did that in a situation like this.

When they reached the Hordes' parking lot, Estrella stepped out of the car first. Sanguis hurriedly locked their car and chased his wife.

The smell of alcohol and different chemicals welcomed them. Many nurses, doctors, visitors, and patients are walking around the lobby of the hospital.

Both of them abducted two doctors to get their medical coats, so they can wander around the hospital freely. They observed each room, until they saw Freda's office.

Sanguis was about to stop Estrella from breaking in, but he was too late. Estrella walked in with confidence, and looked around the office like it's hers.

She continued wandering, when a cabinet caught her attention. It has a lock, but she's lucky because it's left open.

Her eyes widened when she saw what was inside that cabinet.

"Who the hell are you?!"

Estrella turned her head to where the voice came from. She finally saw Freda with her blood-soaked medical coat.
