Chapter 2

I was lying my head on the locker that was supposed to be opened and have used to exchange my books for the next class but I couldn't move as I recollected the humiliation I, unobjectively, showcased.

"How long am I supposed to stare at you doing absolutely nothing?" Meredith asked, blinking at me boringly.

I huffed, "Be my guest, I guess." I hated meeting the same students who possibly were gossiping about my embarrassing moment.

And that wasn't just a single one this year. Scratch that, this week.

The faint sound of heels clicking against the floor echoed in my ears as I concentrated on the source. Strangely, I knew who it could be belonging to.

"What's wrong with her?" Hailey asked, shooting a wary glance at me.

"She's holding onto her priceless embarrassing moment." Meredith sighed, stomping.

"Why are you both here? Leave me alone." I whined. "Anyways, since you guys are here, let's bunk our last classes."

"You're seconds of mood change, honestly scares me," Hailey commented, wearing an impressed look.

I waved my hand dismissively in the air, "Whatever. So, you up for it?"

They both shared a look before straightening their chests to burst out in a fit of laughter and bending over or almost falling off to exaggerate.

"Why the heck are you both laughing?" I furrowed my brows at their weird reaction and unexpecting.

"You, bunk? When was the last time you ever bunked?" Hailey asked with an amused spark glowing in her eyes as her lips stretched in a mocking smile.

"Never, but! It's our last year and I'm committed to doing anything impossible and dangerous." I pointed out to be reasonable enough.

It's not like I'm the only one who proposed such a thing. This has been going over the generations. Every last year of the senior year, there are 99% of students commit the things they've avoided like plague or shooting it out of their heads to even enter without a permission slip.

"No offense, but you are a living time bomb that can go off any minute." Meredith snorted.

I glared as hard I could with a baby face and big doe eyes (described by my friends) that only needed a winged liner to make it look fierce.

But just making up for my classes on time is the most possible thing I can do early morning.

"Well, I'm ready to flunk my accounting class." Hailey shrugged as we gawped at her. "Oh, shut your judgy eyes. I'm not in the mood to even study."

"But it's our last year. You need to pass that class." I painted my eyes with pointy looks at her recklessness.

She groaned, "Gosh! I'm not planning to fail. Obviously, not and get stuck behind you both. I'm just ready to flunk today's class." Hailey explained herself.

"I got a free period anyway so I'm in," Meredith said, shrugging as she didn't care much about what Hailey said.

I shouldn't be caring either but the thing is, she's my last-minute tutor to barely pass that specific class. I don't know why, but that subject hates me even after working so hard, I still don't understand why it's not being cooperative with me.

"So, Miss Millie Quinn, are you ready to elope with your best friends?" Hailey asked, leaning in with a smirk.

"I don't have a test or anything..." I muttered, thinking of a possibility that a  pop quiz popping in my next class.

They both groaned, grasping my arms and harshly dragging me out the hallway. I screeched, bewildered.

"Alright, alright. Let me walk." I squeaked out.

They didn't let go of my arms because of my loyalty to attending the classes. I gave up as they didn't buy into my declarations on I'm totally in.

Meredith opened her car door, pushing me inside with the head first because as much as they wanted me to do something crazy when I was finally giving in, they had to keep in check of my clumsiness sprouting out from anywhere.

I settled on the back seat, while Hailey took the passenger seat in the front beside Meredith being our personal driver.

"So, girls. Where do you want to go?" Meredith asked with a little pitch plugged in her chirpy voice.

I covered my ears instantly, still not out of my sleepy droopy mood. "You could've asked that quietly."

She rolled her eyes, switching her gaze over Hailey who was surfing through the internet.

"You know, I've been meaning to go to Las Vegas. It would be a lot of fun, don't ya think?" Hailey suggested.

I was baffled. When they meant elope, I certainly didn't think she meant driving off to another country and as a sensible person would react, I shouted.

"WHAT!? Are you crazy? Why would you even think of Las Vegas? No, actually, why would you generally think of another city? What is this? A tourism trip?" I rambled, nothing to stop on as I scolded her for being irrational.

Well, I'm not someone who does extreme things. Even if I do, then it's my clumsiness to blame on.

"Gosh! Calm down. We're adults." Hailey said.

"Almost." I interrupted.

She continued, despite my cries, "Las Vegas is a place where you can commit any kind of thing. Even robbery but I wouldn't recommend that. If you want to have fun, then this is a one-time opportunity. Plus, we won't go back there again."

I bit the insides of my cheeks, considering what she said. "Why aren't you saying anything, Meredith?" I shifted my unsure gaze to her.

She shrugged, "Sounds like a cool plan. We got a two-off weekend anyway, so why not?"

How can she be so unbothered?

"I'll have to ask my mother." I voiced out my thoughts.

"No. Don't tell her that we're going to Las Vegas. Just tell her you're staying over at my house." Hailey suggested, teaching me to lie.

I would've lied but I'm a bad liar. I start to stutter and use a kid's version of the talk.
