I looked out of the window of my room, it is my safe confinement where I can be myself. I can mourn my grief and weep my tears. No one will come to give me a shoulder to cry or whisper comforting words that everything is going to be fine.

It happened for the fifth time.

“Why only me? What have I done to suffer this cruelty?” I cried hiding my face in my lap, the pain in my lower abdomen was nothing in compare of the emotional wound that had been inflicted upon me by my fate and everyone I love, my mate, his family and the pack members.

They all look down at me in disappointment.

I am Luna Celeste of Red Stone Pack. My mate, Alpha Jesper has stopped showing affection on me when I miscarried for the third time. It’s been five years since we met and marked each other but the Alpha is without an heir.

I was loved and adored by my mate and my pack before the tragedies began to happen.

There was another knock, this time it was louder and harsher than before. I dragged my tired body to the door. Each step I took was very painful but I didn’t let it show on my face. I opened the door and found my mother-in-law and mate at door step. Anger and annoyance were visible on their faces.

“What took you long to open the door? Are you intentionally disrespecting us, Celeste?” His mother harshly pushed me out of her way to enter inside. Her venomous words stung me but I remained silent and glanced at my mate.

“Your maid came to deliver the news to us. You failed us again, Celeste.” Jesper said in a cold and distant tone. His face was devoid of any emotion.

Kyra, my wolf howled in pain. He was resisting his wolf to connect with us.

“I was extra careful. I didn’t know how it happened.” I lowered my head and tears spilled from my eyes. I was trying to act strong. I couldn’t give him another chance to accuse me of something I can’t control.

“You’re a useless vessel, girl. We’re paying the price. My son is twenty-five and still no child is born to an Alpha of a powerful pack. How shameful it is for us. I can’t allow this anymore. Jesper, you must find another mate and get rid of this abomination.” His mother threw more spiteful words at me.

“It wasn’t my fault!” I yelled in frustration as my pain became unbearable. These cruel, cold-hearted people failed to see my suffering.

“Celeste, my own people have started talking behind our backs, they think I’ll be replaced by another wolf in future who won’t be my sons. I can’t see my legacy die in front of my eyes. I need a healthy woman to carry my heir.” He announced and I closed my eyes to let his words sink in. I sensed it coming yet I denied this possibility. Though, our bond had died a long time ago. We were just performing our duties.

“No! You can’t take this decision alone, Jesper. Both is us worked hard to expand and strengthen this pack. I have given my everything in our success so you can’t just take it all away from me.” I rebelled wiping my tears. He had been treating me indifferently since my first miscarriage happened. I had prepared myself for inevitable but I can’t tolerate injustice.

My mother-in-law’s eyes darkened and she leaned down, “Listen to me carefully, you wench! I am giving you three hours to pack your bags and leave the territory of our pack at the nightfall. I do not want to see your face ever again. I don’t care if you die but I won’t let a curse like you to ruin my son’s life anymore.” She hissed and pushed me on the ground.

“There is no need for that, Mother. I am not his slave. You can’t just treat me like a piece of garbage. I am the Luna of this pack and I hold all the rights to decide whether I want to be rejected or fight for my rights.” I strongly opposed and this time he marched forward.

“Celeste, do not make this difficult for us. I need an heir. I have given you enough chances.” His eyes reflected menace. I don’t understand why Moon Goddess paired us. He never really treats me like a mate when I gave my everything to be a good mate for him but now, my patience is waning.

I felt suffocated and wanted to be free but no one accepts a rogue, let alone a rejected Luna, it forced me to stay and bear this toxicity.

Clicking of heels put a pause on the tensed situation.

“Jesper, my love you’re here. I was looking for you everywhere.” I heard a very familiar.

My sister Melissa came and stood by his side and linked her arm with his and he turned his face to her. A smile crept on his handsome face and my heart shattered.

They weren’t rumours, I turned deaf to them because my love blinded my brain earlier but I know now what made him desperate to get rid off me.

A sly smirk displayed on her beautiful face. She has always been jealous of me and wants the same thing which is mine but I wanted to give Jesper to her willingly this time.

“So, it was true. You were the one whoring around with Jesper!” I mocked her with a humourless laughter but in the next moment, I was on the floor, it was a powerful push. I felt my ribs cracking and pain shot through my cells.

“How dare you to insult her!” Jesper growled at me in his Alpha tone. He attacked me for her who ran into his mother’s arms, acting like a victim.

“I called her by her real title, Jesper. She isn’t your mate or your Luna but you fuck her behind my back so a whore is the right word for her.” I added, it was nothing in comparison with what I endured since my childhood. She was the favourite child of the family.

“Melissa will be my mate, Celeste. She also has Alpha blood in her and she is younger and healthier than you. I regret giving you chances after chances but today, I am freeing you from your duties. You can go anywhere you want, I am relieving you from your position.” He said in an emotionless voice. I could see his mother and Melissa smirking.

“Let me do the honour, Alpha.” I said in a flat tone. My tears were dried up. My last miscarriage gave me strength to fight the wicked game of my fate.

His face contoured with confusion but I walked near to him, I didn’t care if he could kill me in my weak state. I needed my closure.

“I don’t wish to stay with a despicable man like you either. So, I am releasing you with this forced bond, Jesper.” I said in a decisive tone.

“Don’t…” He growled but I didn’t care if I die.

“I, Celeste Reed, reject you, my mate, Alpha Jesper Reed.” I said the words which every wolf dreads.

A sharp pain shot through my body, Kyra howled as we felt the connection with Jesper fading.

His face also turned red, it wasn’t an easy rejection even for a powerful Alpha.

I withered on the ground as my wolf tried to fight the rejection but it was long dead. My eyes became blurry as he collapsed on the floor and his mother rushed to him.

“Melissa, escort your sister out of this pack and make sure she doesn’t leave a trace behind her.” My mother-in-law threw one last disgusted glare at me before walking out.

Melissa knelt down to my level and removed my sweaty hairs out of my face and then traced her finger on my face, “My poor sister. I told you that Jesper was mine since we were little girls but you have the habit of snatching what I wish. See, I took him back. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him and this pack. You’ll be a forgotten chapter soon.” She said each word draped in sweet venom and rose on her full height.

“You can go to hell with him, I don’t care, Melissa. You will soon realize your mistake. He is nothing but a useless punk.” I chuckled dryly and rose on my feet.

Her face turned red with fury. But what she said next, it shook my soul.

“By the way, older people say that pregnant women must not eat black wild mushrooms in herbal soup, it leads to painful miscarriages.”

My head began to spin. I was fed black wild mushrooms by the cooks whenever I lost a child.

Melissa was behind everything since the beginning.
