Chapter 5: The Ball

It was time for Aidan's birthday ball, we have been back about two days now and we were getting things in place for the ball. All the maidens in the land were looking forward to meeting Aidan in hopes of becoming queen. Roman has been distant lately and I figured he was just stressed about finding his mate as he said that he was looking for her. I hope he does as it should help him clean up his act, so I decided to go to his office and find out where his head is at. I entered his office and he was busy looking at some documents, he covered them when I entered and smiled saying, "My dearest friend, how can I help you today? After all a mated man should be busy," and we both laughed. I sat in front of him and said, "I heard you plan on finding a mate at the ball," and he smiled, "Yes, I have a she-wolf in mind, but we shall see." "How are you holding up Roman? I know you have been distant lately," feeling concerned for one of my best friends. He said, "I was just going through something, you know like reflecting on my life, and as you said, I saw how happy you were and wanted that, so yes I am thinking about getting a she-wolf to mate at the ball," and we laughed changing the topic to pack business. One thing I can say is that Roman was good at his job, even under extreme stress and Aidan respected that about him, we all did.

Later that afternoon, everything was in place and we guys decided to hang out together, we even invited the Fae Princes. We ended up at this little bar on neutral territory and then I heard Ty yell, "This little shit, come out Toffe," and we laughed as the bubbly little ten-year-old that always followed us around appeared. We ended up taking him with us because we couldn't go into the bar anymore as he was too far along to go back by himself, after all, he hadn't gotten his lycan yet. Ty asked him, "Did Mother see you? I won't be scolded again," Toffe just said, "No, I sneaked out, I wanted to stay with you," we laughed at how scared Ty was of his mother as old as he was.

We were all over a hundred years old but Stella was not the one to be messed with, she had Toffe a few years before the war when their father died, when all of our fathers died. It still amazes me that they are all gone, they were powerful and shouldn't have fallen the way they did, I know they were not immortal but it's almost like someone sabotaged them in that war, I guess we will never know. Toffe was being scolded by Ty when Roman picked him up and he started laughing, Roman always had a soft spot for Toffe and he let Toffe ride him on his wolf, all the way near to the Fae Kingdom to meet up with the rest. We had our fun that night, and Cayden put Toffe to sleep near the fire to keep warm so he wouldn't see what we were up to.

Night of the Ball

It was the day we had anticipated, we wished Aidan a Happy Birthday before heading to our respective rooms to get ready. Lora looked lovely in her dress, she was wearing the hell out of her tiara because she was a princess just like we were all princes. We didn't wear crowns though, only Aidan, but she can wear her tiara made for the gamma female, however, we did have our crowns but chose not to wear them. We entered the ballroom and started to mingle, I was in awe, the decorators outdid themselves for this special occasion. Ty met up with me and he was looking around, I said, "Looking to meet a mate," "I doubt it but maybe," he replied before we went and mingled with the other warriors.

Lora had the attention of the men around her and I didn't mind, she wore my mark, and as long as they didn't disrespect the process, she was free to have fun. Addison came down looking ravishing and Ty looked at her and walked away saying, "Excuse me," before leaving. I never figured out what was up with him and Addison but it wasn't my place to say, Addison said, "I disrespected him a few months ago and he has never forgiven me," and I said, "Relax, he will get over it." Addison was one of our closest friends and she ended up being part of Aidan's harem, she placed a spell on herself so she wouldn't meet her mate because she couldn't leave Aidan's harem unless he released her. Everyone knows she loves him because she could ask to be released and Aidan would let her go but if he finds his mate tonight, she will probably be heartbroken.

Aidan entered the room and we were called on stage, Roman appeared out of nowhere all happy and I wondered if he found his mate. Lora was on my arm and Amon presented the birthday boy, Aidan started to give his speech, but we sensed something was off. Ty said, "Aidan, are you okay?" He started to speak again before he stopped and walked over to a small she-wolf and then we heard it, "Mate," and we were shocked and happy. Roman was surprised as his smile stopped but he started clapping with the rest of us, people were clapping as Amon announced Aidan had found his Queen.

We walked over and introduced ourselves to the she-wolf whose name was Lily and her best friend Danielle who was smiling from ear to ear. Lora introduced herself and then we let them have a moment to themselves. Roman smiled and said, "I have matters to attend to," before leaving the room and I thought he just run off to find the lucky she-wolf whom he wanted to mate, I turned to find Lora who was watching Ty who was in a heated argument with Addy before Addy walked off. I never thought anything of it, I just hoped those two could forgive each other and move on but looking from my angle, you would think they were mates in a heated argument.

Roman

I was never so pissed in my life, I hate Aidan, I can't stand him, I look at the ring I was going to offer Lily when she becomes my mate. I was going to ask her to be my mate, I had already spoken to her father the right way and he approved, I had already promoted her brother to the king's guard so I could get him on my side so it would be easy for her to mate with me. In anger, I was thinking and rambling on, "Fuck, what was the moon goddess thinking mating her with him?" She will be mine after my plans succeed to take the throne and the rest will die right along with him, knowing them, they will not bend a knee to me. However, I do feel bad about plotting to kill my best friends, I was in such a rage that I did not hear the she-wolf who heard my rambling and she tried to run away, I drag her ass back, she was scared, she was probably around seventeen but I said, "Sorry, I have to do this," and snapped her neck. I left the area without being seen and grabbed another she-wolf to take to my bed, I was furious and I needed to calm down before I slipped up again. I did not go easy on the she-wolf, she could take the punishment that I was giving, and she took every ounce of my cock.

The next morning, I felt drained as I pushed the she-wolf out of my bed and she grabbed her clothes and left, I needed to build more allies quickly as the time was running out. I needed to be coronated along with Lily, so I went to Addison planning to blackmail her into helping us. She said, "No," and I told her, "Your family would be killed if you don't go along with this because it is happening whether you like it or not," she had no choice but to comply, she looked at me with so much hate. I told her, "If you do your job right, I will make you one of my whores," and she walked away from me. I felt her anger but she would be bound to her promise to me if she wanted to survive this. Amon did all the other dirty work, while Erik made sure to keep Addison in line, I decided to leave the palace for two days to finalize my allies. I needed one more pack as he was the biggest obstacle for me winning this and I know it will be a task to get him to join me but he will. His pack was the biggest next to us, the royal pack, in the land and they were loyal to the crown, so I needed to do this right and get this Alpha on my side.
