“You know I love you right?” Raymond said to me as he cupped my face with both hands. I felt so happy to hear those words from him, those reassuring words before our wedding. Of course I knew he loved me, we had been together for two years and he had been the sweetest ever since. “Are you sure Ray Ray?” I asked him, even though I already knew the answer to that question. “Definitely” he responded to me with his reassuring smile that seemed to always take my burdens away. I sighed as I turned to walk towards the direction of the mirror that was in my room. I stood before the mirror, admiring myself. I was dressed in a shiny yellow dress, embellished with beautiful rhinestones and nice black heels, that went so well with my dress. I had always hated the idea of wearing a white dress during your own wedding, so I opted to go for a shiny, beautiful yellow dress that was also my favourite colour. The mirror before me, revealed a radiant soul, with a glow that shone from within, as I gazed lovingly at my reflection, lost in the depths of my own eyes. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Raymond walking towards me, with a light grin on his face. “You look really gorgeous tonight babe, I can’t wait to finally make you mine” he said to me, as he placed his right hand on my waist, spinning me around to face him. I giggled at his words, wondering what I did to deserve the greatest man that ever lived. Raymond and I met three years ago, at a small gathering led by my friends. Apparently, he had been invited by one of my friends and he had decided to actually attend. At first, I never paid him any attention, because I rarely liked to make new friends or liked to even talk to people. I had not even noticed he was there, until he walked up to me with two drinks in his hands. “Hey, may I have a seat next to you?” he asked, as he looked at me and also looked at the empty chair beside me. I was so close to letting him know that I was really not interested in talking to him, but I decided against it. “Yea sure” I said, giving him a cold reply. “Maybe if I give him a cold shoulder, he will eventually leave me alone” I thought inwardly. “Here, I got this for you” he said to me as he stretched one of his hands that held a glass of wine. “No, thank you”. I replied immediately, still giving him the cold reply and avoiding every bit of conversation with him. “And why is that?” he went further to ask, as he looked at me with a questioning gaze. I was already getting fed up with the questions, but I decided to keep my cool and not overreact or walk away. “only God knows what you have added to that drink” I said as I rolled my eyes, not even wanting to keep this conversation going, when I heard a laugh. I looked at him with curious eyes, and he was laughing. I was beginning to question what was so funny, that was making him laugh. What was making him laugh? Did I say something funny, that I did not know about?. At that moment, I stood up immediately and attempted to walk away from him, when I felt a hand grab me by my elbow, pulling me back. I gasped at the disrespect of this man. “What the hell is wrong with you?” I asked out of anger as I forcefully snatched my hand from his grasp. I took a step back, my chest heaving with anger. “Don’t you ever touch me again”, I hissed, my voice low and menacing. I could feel my heart racing with adrenaline, my mind racing with the audacity of his actions. “Whoa whoa whoa!, calm down!, I am so sorry, I didn't mean to get you all worked up, my apologies”, he replied almost immediately as he dropped the glass of wine he was holding on the table. “I am really sorry, please forgive my manners___” “Adrianna”, I responded as I immediately realized he was asking me about my name. He smiled almost instantly, after I told him my name. “Alright Adrianna, My name’s Raymond” he said, as he took a seat, urging me to do the same, as he pulled a chair for me. I shot him a glance, rolled my eyes, and sat down in the chair he had offered, folding my arms across my chest. Truth be told, now that I look at him, he didn’t look bad. He had a very well defined chiseled jaw, bright and captivating brown eyes that looked so vibrant and alive. He had golden brown hair that was styled and gelled to perfection and gave him a very good fitting. He had to be around five foot nine, contradicting my little height of just five foot six. “So, are you done staring?” he asked me a question, making me instantly blush and embarrassed. I had totally forgotten I was in my thoughts and was also staring at him. He kept looking at me, grinning from ear to ear as if I was some funny clown star, making a joke. “It’s okay” he said to me, giving me a reassuring smile, after he saw I was becoming more embarrassed and I had started using my hands to cover my face in shame. Weirdly enough, I was actually feeling attracted to him already, his smile seemed to calm my raging soul and made it peaceful, his smile was so reassuring. Raymond’s soft touch brought me back to reality, I had not even noticed that I had zoned out for that long. “Is everything alright baby? You looked so lost” he asked me, with a very worried look. “oh yes I am fine love, I just remembered the first time we met and the little argument we had. It was one hell of an argument” I replied to him as I giggled, remembering the incident that happened over again. He grinned as he cupped my face with his hands, giving me a kiss that seemed to take my breath away “Yea baby, I remember, it was a very eventful moment, now let’s prepare to spend the rest of our lives together” he said as he released me from his grip and walked out of the room. “See you at the wedding venue my future wife, or should I say my wife?” he voiced as he finally walked out of the room, and I could no longer see him. My ears twitched at those particular words, I was sure my ears were red and hot at this very moment. I spun myself around leaping for joy as I anticipated the best moments of my life in a few hours.ADRIANNA All through the night I couldn't sleep, my thoughts kept going back to Theresa. I kept tossing and turning on my bed finding it hard to fall asleepI was really worried. I couldn’t rest, knowing that Theresa was in that hospital room fighting for her life.Morning came eventually, and I wasted no time in preparing to go to the hospital. I didn’t even shower, i just wore the nearest clothes i could find, and rushed out of my room. I walked down the stairs, and to the living room, to find Ethan sitting patiently. Was he waiting for me?“Good morning” he greeted me immediately when he saw me. He stood up from the chair, and walked closer to me.“Need a ride?” He twirled the car key in his hand. I nodded, and walked to hug him.He leaned in, and then lightly grabbed my cheek “it’s okay Adrianna, it’s okay” he said, and I sighed. We walked out of the house shortly after. I looked around, the decorations from yesterday were still scattered around, and the large table at the cen
ADRIANNA It felt like all the air had been sucked out of my lungs, and I couldn't breathe.I watched as Theresa collapsed to the floor, knees first and then her whole body landed on the floor.“No, no, no!” I shook my head as I stood up, and began to run towards her.I ignored the slight pain I felt around my stomach, still trying to get to her. Even as Ethan held my hand, to stop me, I still struggled.I forcefully pushed my hand away from his and ran to her.“The…Theresa are y…you okay?” I stammered as i laid on the floor beside her.She had been shot to the chest. Blood was gushing out of her chest so fast that I didn't know how to stop it.I looked around and screamed at the top of my lungs “somebody call the f*ucking ambulance please” my voice cracked.I looked down at Theresa “Theresa please, please open your eyes, the ambulance would be here soon” I cried as Theresa’s eyes were closed and she looked unresponsive.I took my hands to hers, and grabbed it.Her hands were starting
ADRIANNA “You don’t have to run Adrianna, I'm just here to congratulate you,” he grinned. My heart sank to the bottom of my stomach.I stopped, and stared at him, trying to hide my fear as much as possible, and appear confident.“What are you doing here Raymond?” I asked, swallowing the lump in my throat.“You aren’t supposed to be here! You are not invited”“We’re divorced, we have nothing left connecting us together, don’t you get it?” I asked, as my palm started to get sweaty. I clung to my dress, stylishly rubbing my palm on it.He chuckled and then tried to move closer, but I stopped him.“Stay right there! Don’t come any closer!” I snapped, stretching my hand. This attracted some of the guests including Ethan, who rushed over to where I was. He stood in front of me, and used his right hand to pull me behind him.“What are you doing here Raymond?” He groaned as he asked Raymond the one question that I needed answers to too. What was he doing here? We had signed the divorce paper
ADRIANNAFor the next few days, preparations for our big, special day were being made. We had scheduled the reveal for two days from now. I left invitation messages for a few people like Mrs. Thompson and a few of my former co-workers at the coffee shop. But, I still had one more person to invite personally, and I wanted it to be a surprise.I hailed a taxi and gave the driver the address to Theresa’s house. When we arrived, I alighted, and paid the driver his money, watching him zoom off.I walked to the door and clicked on the doorbell. An excited and cheerful Theresa came out shortly after.“Adrianna!” She said excitedly and hugged me, her hug bringing me warmth and comfort.“How are you?” I asked, immediately she released me. “I’m doing great, come on in” I stepped in, shutting the door behind me. “I have a surprise for you!” I announced, taking a seat in the living room.“What’s that?” She raised her eyebrow, her face lighting up with anticipation.“I want to specially and per
ADRIANNA Ethan opened the car door for me as we got to the familiar building. I stared hard at it.This was a place that once held memories for me. It was a place I thought I was genuinely loved. It was a place I thought would be my forever home. All that was destroyed in just a day.I came down from the car, and waited for him to shut the door before moving. I slowly walked towards the gate, with Ethan trailing behind me. I rang the doorbell that was by the side of the gate, and after a few seconds, the gate automatically opened.I turned around to look at Ethan, and he had a reassuring smile. That was all I needed. I held his hand as we walked towards the door to the house. Just before we could knock, the door opened to show the least person I wanted to meet.Jasmine.“What are you doing here?” She asked nonchalantly.I scoffed as I stared right at her. She really had the audacity. Was she still asking me what I am doing here?“You know why i am here Jasmine” “I am here to take w
ADRIANNA As I stared at the message, I could only feel three things; joy, excitement and thrill.I felt on top of the world, and the taste of the cake did a lot.“This is just the beginning Raymond!” I laughed hysterically, as I took a bite of my cake, sipping my coffee right after.I dropped my phone down and enjoyed the remaining cake left on the round shaped plate. When I was done, I leaned back into my seat, completely exhausted. It felt like I had eaten for about five people.Customers started to come in and the place was starting to become packed. “Well i guess this is my queue to leave”I grabbed my purse and my phone and stood up from the chair. I walked to my manager’s office to bid her a farewell. I knocked twice on the door, and when I heard the confirmation to come in, I opened the door.“I’m leaving already. I have somewhere to be” I poked my head in.Mrs. Thompson was seated behind her desk, with a few paper works scattered on her table. Her face lit up with excitement
