Scarlette's pov

I stared at him for a long time. Did he say that he wanted to be my mate? I breathed out.

"We both know that mate bonds don't work that way," I told him regretfully though my heart kept screaming otherwise.

Oh, how I wished that it was normalised to choose mates in our world. But no. Rejections, choosing the person you want to love was badly frowned upon in all the werewolf packs. We were supposed to wait for our mates. Even if it took an entire lifetime.

He sighed. He knew what I meant. "But you have rejected him. Can't we just… I don't know… Have some fun?"

I was a little surprised to hear him say that. Fun? Well, that sounded interesting. I wouldn't mind having 'fun' with this fine specimen. The thought curled a mischievous smile on my face.

Snickering under my breath, "fun?" I asked.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Humans do it all the time. I mean I like you…" he suddenly trailed off and his eyes went wide.

Wait… He liked me? That's even more interesting.
