Scarlett's pov

His body tensed at once. "Huh?"

My eyes flung open as soon as I realised that I had said that out loud. Horrified, I let go of him and stepped back. Damn it! Why didn't I have better control over my body?

"I'm so sorry… I didn't mean to be disrespectful…

I made haste to get away! For a while there, I was hoping to fade into the background. If only I had superpowers. I didn't, however. To make matters worse, I couldn't shift to my wolf. She didn't even talk to me. Except for being able to mentally connect with the other members of my pack and having heightened senses, I was no better than a human.
