Gavin's pov

The party was held in the open ground and the place was packed. It was a clear night. The bright supermoon illuminated the sky. Most of the invitees were unmated females and their guards - either a trusted warrior from their pack or their gamma. Everyone except me seemed to have a great time. Neither me nor my wolf were able to calm down until another girl was announced as the alpha's mate. She was a girl from his own pack.

Everyone seemed to be ecstatic. No problems arose. Various attendees asked the females to dance with them and Akela kept pushing me to ask her for a dance, but I ended up blocking him. I mean, I was there as her bodyguard. It would be so weird if we started to dance.

I wished that I could ask her for one dance, but I chose not to. I didn't want to give the pack members a reason to spread rumours.
