Adam's POV

When the questioning finally ended, one of the officers told me I could see Handre.

I followed him down the hallway.

The moment the door opened, I wished I hadn't.

I stopped in my tracks.

Handre was lying beneath a white sheet.

The officer pulled it back enough for me to see his face and upper body.

My stomach turned. He had been brutalized.

There were deep injuries across his body, bruising and wounds that made it clear he hadn't simply been attacked and killed.

Adam's POV Isabella straightened herself.A slow smile returned to her face. "If you don't heed my warning, the next dead body you find will be your stupid wife."Everything inside me went still."Hailey!" My voice came out dangerously low.Rage consumed me. I grabbed Isabella by the jaw and twisted her face toward mine."If you dare lay a hand on Hailey's hair, I will fucking kill you!" Her eyes widened. "You have no idea what I'm capable of."My fingers tightened around her jaw. "You think you're crazy?" I leaned closer. "Fucking touch my wife and I will burn you, you stupid mage, alive."Her eyes widened even further. She suddenly jerked away from me.."How did you know that?"A smirk pulled at my lips. "You can't hide forever." I stepped toward her. "I'm on your fucking back, and I will get you."I grabbed her jaw again, squeezing hard enough that she winced. "If you dare even look in Hailey's direction, I will fucking burn you from the inside out."I shoved her away from me. She

There were deep injuries across his body, bruising and wounds that made it clear he hadn't simply been attacked and killed. Someone had hurt him badly before he finally died. My jaw clenched. I stared at my friend in silence. This wasn't an accident. This wasn't some random attack. Someone had wanted him to suffer. My eyes burned as I looked at him. "Handre..." My voice broke. I couldn't believe he was gone. He had been alive only yesterday. He had been investigating Isabella. He had been searching for answers. And now he was lying dead in front of me. I stepped closer, my hands curling into fists. "This was Isabella."

Adam's POV Hailey finished cleaning the wound and closed the first-aid kit before walking into the bathroom. A few moments later, she returned with a cold towel. She gently pressed it against my jaw. I hissed slightly at the cold. "You can't continue protecting him, love." I looked at her. "You need to bring Hayes into this. He is the only person who can stop Jake and Isabella." "I'm not protecting him, baby." I sighed. "I was trying to do what was best for all of us." "Then you need to bring Hayes into this." Her voice became softer. "Look at what happened last night." Her eyes filled with tears. "I was going for my evening walk, and if you hadn't alerted me in time, I would've gone outside." Her voice broke. "Creator knows what would've happened to me and our babies." My jaw clenched. I didn't even want to imagine it. "I would've never been able to live with myself." Hailey wiped away a tear. "You need to bring Hayes into this, love. He needs to know what Jake is plan

Adam's POV The meeting finally came to an end. The elders rose from their seats one after another, exchanging a few final words with Jake before leaving the room. I waited until the door closed behind the last of them before turning toward my cousin. "Jake, we need to talk." He looked at me and waited. There was so much happiness on his face that, for a moment, I almost felt guilty for what I was about to say. Then I remembered everything that had happened. "Jake, you can't do this. This isn't right." His brows furrowed. "What?" "Blood Weaving. We're supposed to be finding out who attacked us and why. You shouldn't be sitting here talking about gaining some forbidden ability." His expression immediately hardened. "Some forbidden ability?" he snapped. "This ability is exactly what we need to fight whatever is out there." "We don't even know what is out there!" I shot back. "That's the problem. We don't know what we're fighting, who they are, or what they want. And Blood We

Adam's POV The elders had agreed to unlock Blood Weaving for Jake. It was not a decision they had made lightly. The burial ceremony had been one of the hardest things I had ever witnessed. None of us had expected, not even in our worst nightmares, that we would be standing in a cemetery burying so many members of our pack after a single night. The attack had come without warning. There had been no threats, no declaration of war, no disagreement with another pack that could have led to something like this. One moment, our pack had been going about its normal life, and the next, we were fighting for our lives against wolves none of us could even identify. We buried parents. Children. Guards who had spent their lives protecting us. People who had simply been in the wrong place when those wolves appeared. The grief had settled over the entire pack like a heavy cloud. We were still investigating the attack, but we had found very little. No tracks. No clear identity. No explanation

Adam's POV I sat behind my desk, staring at the papers in front of me without reading a single word.My mind was on Isabella.Handre's investigation had only made things more suspicious. He had told me Isabella was almost impossible to follow. The apartment everyone believed she lived in was barely used. She was hardly ever there, and when Handre had searched the place, there was almost nothing to find.No personal belongings. No photographs. No documents. Nothing that could tell us who she really was.Even her job at the sports center was strange. She was hardly ever there, yet her attendance was regularly signed.Someone was covering for her.And then there was Philip. Her supposed mate. Handre had discovered that the entire thing was a facade. Philip wasn't her mate at all. He was a paid actor. He was already married and had agreed to pretend to be Isabella's mate so she could make Jake believe she was involved with a respectable doctor.Everything about her was a lie. Her name.H
