Chapter 2: I want you

Rosalynn’s POV.

“You whore, we have raised you for 10 years, and now you are so ungrateful. Knowing that from the beginning, I should have let you die in the orphanage. Who would have thought that taking you in and raising you would lead to such trouble?"

The person I called mother was still not satisfied after slapping me. She grabbed my hair and pushed my whole body to the ground for a beating. My thin strands of hair were pulled taut, causing my scalp to ache and bring tears to my eyes. Even though my face was red and swollen, I still silently endured the beatings and those vile words.

Whore, ungrateful, damn girl. I didn't understand why I had to endure such insults.

My mother, tired after beating me, sat down on the ground, ruffled her curly hair, and growled, "Now where will I get the money to pay off your father's debt? If we can't pay in full today, they'll come here and kill me too."

"Why? Why... Dad lost money gambling, so I had to marry that old man? Can't you have a little pity for me?"

I pressed my lips together tightly, curled up on the ground with my white shirt torn at the shoulder blades.

My mother smirked, “He married you to clear your father's debt, what else can I do? We raised you for many years, you ate and spent money at our house, and we even sent you to college. It's time for you to repay us!”

Raised? Did they truly raise and educate a daughter, or did they bring a slave home to serve them? How ironic!

Since being adopted by this family from the orphanage, I had truly entered hell. Outside of school, I had to go out and do all kinds of work to earn money for them. If I didn't meet their expectations, I would be beaten and starved for several days. But because I was good at studying, they thought I could make more money for them after finishing college, so they agreed to let me continue studying!

I said sadly, my red eyes looking at my mother with a glimmer of hope and love, "I will not marry that old man. If I can repay Dad's debt, you won't force me, right?"

“You can? Where did you get such a large amount of money?” Her eyes immediately lit up when she heard money.

At this moment, my father, Mr. Carter, suddenly opened the door and entered the house with a 60-year-old man.

“What are you planning?” I unconsciously stepped back.

My shoulders trembled when I met the old man's eyes scanning towards me. Just as I was about to run up to my room, my mother grabbed my hand. My father's flattering voice reached my ears, making my face pale.

“Mr. Frederick, my daughter is in front of you today. You can do whatever you like… Just clear my debt.”

My father's obsequious appearance caught my eye. I continuously shook my head to express my refusal, "No... Never. I disagree!"

“Hurry up and say hello to your future husband. Marrying Mr. Frederick is the honor of your lifetime.” My mother pushed me down into the old man's lap.

He leaned close to my face and his rough hands groped my waist, "Darling, you're so beautiful. You stood me up yesterday which angered me a lot. Today, you have to make amends for it."

"Let me go! I won't marry you!”

The overwhelming fear made my tears continuously fall in despair. His hideous arms were harassing my body right in front of my parents, but pitifully, they didn't feel any pangs of conscience when selling their "daughter"!

“All of you…” I rolled my eyes, my chest heaving up and down continuously with anger and fear, but before I could finish my sentence, my mother poured the entire glass of red wine into my mouth.

“Ugh… Ugh… You… All of you are so cruel!”

Boom! The sound of the door being kicked rang out!

Everyone in the house turned towards the door. A group of people walked in first, opening the way for a man in a black suit with a cold expression. He raised his pistol and shot accurately at Frederick's arm which was restraining me without a second of hesitation.

“Aaahhhh…” Frederick screamed in pain, let go of my body, and hugged his arm that was being shot.

Right now, my eyes which were blurred with tears seemed to be seeking sunlight. I didn't care about the identity of the person who had just entered. I quickly ran towards him and said in a broken voice, "Please save me..."

As soon as I finished speaking, the surrounding space was covered with suffocating silence. It seemed like the strong smell of blood was spreading throughout the space, entering my nostrils, and making me feel nauseous. Weakly grabbing the man's vest sleeve, I kept repeating my plea and then slowly raised my head to look at him.

“Mr… Mr. Nolan Kingston.” Frederick suppressed his pain and called out.

Nolan Kingston?

Amber eyes filled with dominance and power were staring at me as if intending to devour a prey offered to its mouth.

“You… You are…” A numbing electric current went down my spine. I trembled backward in fear and missed a step.

Why him? He was the man who had a night with me in that presidential suite.

Nolan Kingston wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed my body against his. His handsome eyebrows furrowed tightly, then his thin lips softly moved a few words in a very low voice, "I just took my eyes off you for a moment, you ran away."

“Rosalynn, do you know Mr. Kingston?” My mother quickly grasped the point, her voice unable to hide her cheerfulness asked me.

“I… I don't know you…”

I was about to push this man away, but he tightened his grip on me. The depths of his eyes were so deep that I couldn't see any emotion through them.

“Don't know each other?” He smirked.

Steady breathing and the scent of sandalwood kept creeping into my nostrils, making my mind a bit dazed.

Right when Nolan finished speaking, a pistol was pointed straight at my father's temple who was standing humbly in a corner.

"No! What are you doing? Don't hurt my father!” I panicked, grabbed part of his shirt, and screamed. With just one light pull of the trigger, my father would die immediately under the barrel of that gun.

His long, cold fingers lifted my chin to face his sharp gaze, “Your father ruined my business. Tell me, how can I forgive him?"

"What?" My eyes widened in surprise. I turned back to look at my father and asked with a confused expression, “What does he mean by that? Dad, what trouble have you caused again?”

My father was so scared at this point that his face turned pale, his legs lost all strength and he unconsciously fell to the ground. The muscular man pulled him up again, pressing the gun directly to his head to threaten him.

“Mr. Kingston, I was temporarily blinded by money and sold your company's information. Next time I will never dare to do it again. Please forgive me..."

"Forgive?" Nolan chuckled softly. He suddenly ran the pistol along my face, making me tremble, then pointed it straight at my father.

A deafening gunshot rang out.

"NOOO!" I cried out. Followed by the sound of a flower vase shattering on the ground.

My ringing ears received a little sound from my mother. Although I didn't know what she looked like right now, I was sure that she was as scared as I was, "Rosalynn, please beg Mr. Kingston. Otherwise, your father will be shot to death!”

Beg? How I should beg him when my father had made enemies with him, and I was self-aware that I had nothing valuable to offer?

I raised my teary eyes to look at the man hugging me. He just toyed with my heart, threw it high into the sky, and then landed without stopping. My mother's constant urging made my mind even more panicked.

“Mr. Kingston, please forgive us… My father would never dare reveal a word of your business. I can agree with you on anything. Please, do not…"

“Do not what?” Nolan interrupted me and asked back, his eyes flashing with teasing amusement.

I swallowed my saliva in fear and made a "gulp" sound, feeling choked and unable to speak out loud.

Right at this moment, Nolan suddenly raised his hand to pat my head and continued my unfinished words with an extremely gentle attitude, "Are you afraid I will kill you?"

However, his gentleness made me break out in cold sweat. Who was this man anyway? Did he consider human life a joke or something so he could utter the word "kill" so easily? But apparently, I was too cowardly to ask him that.

Before he could respond, Nolan continued, “Don't worry, I won't kill you. I still need to keep you by my side.”

“I don't… understand what you mean…” I frowned slightly at the pain coming from my chin, averting my eyes to avoid him. My heart began to swell with another bad omen that was about to happen.

He wiped away the tears that were forming at the corners of my eyes and then tucked my sideburns behind my ear, "You want me to forgive him? Life for life, use your life to spare his death.”

For the rest of my life, I would definitely never forget the cold amber eyes and the deep hoarse voice like a demon that was firmly embedded in my heart.

Despite my mother's loud cries beside me, I felt like I was about to die of pain at this man's hands, "What do you need from me?"

“I want you to be my doll, Rosalynn Carter.” Nolan smirked indifferently and replied loudly to me like a firm statement.

“Okay, I agree!” Both my parents spoke in unison and decided to take my fate in the blink of an eye. My heart truly fell into such despair that I could not shed another tear.

In a second, he squeezed my chin tightly then leaned down to devour my cherry lips, locking in what I was about to say. This aggressive kiss temporarily made me stiff, not knowing how to react next.

Nolan Kingston, he was crazy! Was he forcing a kiss on me in front of so many people? I tried hard to hit his solid chest, and with difficulty uttered a few interrupted words.

"Leave... me... out!"

Feeling his tongue stirring continuously in my mouth, I knew that my strength could not resist him, but... I bit his lip so hard that it bled. The smell of fresh blood permeated the tip of my tongue, causing a feeling of disgust and nausea in my heart.

“Ah…” Nolan's low cry rang out softly.

Facing me now was Nolan's extremely handsome face, he was raising his finger to gently brush his lips. I thought what I had just done had made him angry and shot me to death, but he responded with a somewhat wild smile, reaching out to grab my neck and leaning down to bite my ear.

“This face of yours is truly suitable for me to play with, little doll.” After leaving a tooth mark on my ear, Nolan Kingston whispered.

My heart echoed with crashing sounds of collapse. The innocent eyes widened with endless fear. It seemed like all the drama he performed today was just to force me into this path, right?

“Nolan Kingston, who exactly are you?”

This time, I truly encountered a demon.
