Chapter 55: Gather evidence

Rosalynn's POV.

As soon as I went out and closed the door, I heard the sound of high heels hitting the marble floor and they became more and more distinct. I unconsciously crumpled Nolan's bloody vest and my heart beat faster. I didn't know what expression to wear when facing Christine, and I even had the thought of running away like a coward.

I knew nothing about Christine other than that she was the mayor's eldest daughter and the sister of Kristen, who hated me bitterly. Now I understood Kristen's actions, for I bore a resemblance to her sister. She probably assumed that everything I received from Nolan was thanks to Christine and that I was competing for a warmth that didn't belong to me.
