LEON’s POV

"When will the new secretary arrive?" I asked Henry, one of my staff as soon as my meeting with the directors finished.

"She will arrive next week, sir. In the meantime, I would be your secretary," he said.

I heaved a deep sigh, then I sat on my swivel chair when we finally reached my office. "Are you sure she's suitable for the job? I don't want someone who always fails, just like Gerald."

"Yes, sir. One of our investors has recommended her, so she's probably competent."

I nodded as I began massaging my temple. I already had five secretaries this month and all of them ended up getting fired by me. None of them could reach my standards and they always cannot do what I want them to. All of them are mere simpletons who can't even do simple tasks.

"Sir, your mother, Mrs. Dompteur asked you to go to your grandparent's house tonight." he suddenly said to me again.

"What for?"

"She said there's an emergency."

“He has terminal cancer.”

All of them got surprised when my grandfather’s personal doctor said that.

“What?! Dad is going to die already?!” mom said.

“Hey, he didn’t say that I’m going to die already. I just have terminal cancer.” Grandpa then said casually.

“Is there anything that we can do?” dad asked.

The doctor then shook his head. “You just have to make sure that he’ll live happily while he’s still with you. He shouldn’t feel any stress because that would affect his health.”

“Did you hear that? You shouldn’t give any stress to me now, Leon. You have to obey anything that I’ll tell you.”

I think I know where this is going again.

“Terminal cancer won’t disappear if I get married.” I cut him off.

“But that would make me happy. You heard what doctor George said, right? I need to be happy all the time."

I heaved a sigh as I grabbed my coat. “I’ll go home now. I still have so many things to do.”

“Hey, Leon! You punk! I’m still talking to you! Aren’t you sad that your grandpa’s already dying?!” I heard grandpa even yell even when I had already gone out of his room.

That wasn’t true. For sure, they just asked the doctor to say that just so I would finally agree to whatever they wanted me to do. All of them want me to get married already. They want me to finally find a girl and live with her because they’re afraid that I might grow old alone.

As soon as I’ve reached my pad, I immediately went to my office and sat on my swivel chair. I signed the pile of papers on my desk, then I stopped and drank some water when I felt exhausted. I looked outside my window and I remembered her again.

‘Leon, promise you’ll wait for me. You’ll wait for me no matter what happens, right?’

Her voice is still very clear to me.

I could hear it every night. I could hear it even in my dreams.

Even if it’s been ten years already, I’m still waiting for her. I still believe that one day, she will come back and find me.

“How many times do I have to tell you that I don’t want to go on blind dates? I just want you to do the project because I have so many scheduled projects this week.” I said to my best friend Brent.

He looked at me as he crossed his arms. “And I also told you that I will only agree being your architect if do that favor."

“No.” I said with gritted teeth.

“Okay, then I’ll say no to you too.”

I looked at him with furrowed brows. “Brent, you’ll just do a simple task! You know how much I want to do this project!”

“I know, and you’re just going to do a simple task too. Dude, look, You don't have to talk to that woman. You can just say that she's not your type then leave. All you have to do is to show up even for a minute. Please, bro. Do this for me.” he pleaded.

I shook my head. “There’s no way I am doing that. Why can’t you just fucking understand that I don’t have time to do such things?”

“Chill, bro! I know that, okay? It would be the very first time that you'll do it, and I won't ask you anything like this again, I promise. And if you agree, I will do anything that you want. .”

Looks like I don’t have any choice.

I heaved a deep sigh as I sat back on my swivel chair. “Fine, you’ll do everything.”

“Wait, are you saying that you’re finally agreeing to my condition?”

“It’s not my fault if that woman ends up hating you. I am not accountable for the things that might happen, okay?”

He nodded. “O f course, you can do whatever you want. So, it’s a deal now?”

“I’ll definitely kill you if you try to escape from me, Brent.”

He suddenly laughed. “Of course, I always fulfill my promise. And besides, do you really think I can fool Leon Dompteur?”

“I just want to make sure, because you’d be really dead if you don’t stick to your words.”

After that, Brent finally left. Brent is a professional architect, and I need him for my next project in our company. He's the only architect that I trust because I don't want to end up with a trash project. I will do everything just to do this project no matter what it takes and no matter what happens.

MOON’s POV

“Ahh! You look so cute!” Prestine cooed when I was finally wearing the pink dress that she chose for me.

We were inside a boutique, looking for a dress that I could wear for that blind date. I don't even know why I suddenly felt nervous.

“Prestine, do I really have to wear such an expensive dress like this? We want that man to despise you, right? So why are we trying so hard to look good?"

“Huh? But don’t you want to look good? What if that man is actually an incredibly handsome man? We don't know, maybe he's the man you've been waiting for."

I shook my head. “I no longer have those hopes, Prestine. For sure as soon as he sees my face he'll already want to leave. And besides, having a relationship with someone is not in my priority list at this time. All I want is to be able to pay all our debts.”

“Is that really true? Or is it because you’re still in love with your childhood best friend that never showed up since then?"

I immediately felt my cheeks turned hot. “H-Hey, that's not true. I don't even think about him now. Maybe he's already married or even has a kid already. That's not really in my mind right now. What I want is a decent job and money.”

“Ah, you really are such a good girl, Moon. But I do hope you’ll find someone that you deserve someday.”

I just shrugged because of what she said.

Someone that I deserve?

Do I really have that someone?
