Chapter 2

Kael's POV

I held the sheets of my bed as I coughed so hard. I know the maids can hear me, they have always heard me cough but never ask me what the reason was.

I have held it down for years now and that's because I want it to be that way. I looked at the ground, it was my blood that was right there.

" When will this come to an end?" I asked myself.

I hated it so much, it made me feel less of a person.

My wolf shifted inside of me, he felt my pain as well.

The Crimson Fang Empire will never be the same. I was broken when I learnt about the curse on the family and specifically on every male offspring of my house.

I stood by the window as I watched the injured pack members being taken in for treatment.

I placed my hands on my chest as I felt it tightened. The curse has been on for years, and I am the next in line to die from an illness no one can tell or stop.

No medicine man or woman has been able to find a cure for it, and I know they won't. I get to die like the others.

A knock came on my door, it was sharp, meaning it needed my attention.

" What is it?" I said as soon as I opened the door and saw a guard standing by my door.

" The council calls for your attention. There is very important information for you, it has to do with the Pack" he says.

I closed the door and took a deep breath. I hope it is something good.

" I'll be there" I opened the door and said to the guard.

I got my robes on and made my way to the Council meeting. I got there and saw that all of them were there, not one of them was absent, then I knew that it was something very serious.

" You should sit," the head of the council said to me.

I did as he had said.

A letter was passed to me. It was on gold and I knew immediately that it had to do with life and death.

I opened it, with my heart beating so fast.

I read the address and instantly raised my head.

" The Lunar Dominion Pack sent this?" I raised the letter up.

" They did, and that's after we came to an agreement on how to end the war" the council leader said.

I looked at it and began to read. It was a marriage proposal. What the hell was going on?

" A blood marriage?" I raised my head and looked at them.

" Yes, that's the only way to save our lives and cheat the curse that has been placed on us. We have to find a way to stop the war, and a blood marriage will be the best, witnessed by the Moon Goddess and done under the full moon" the council leader said.

I swallowed. I was going to marry the daughter of the enemies to save my Pack?

I was the Alpha of Crimson Fang Empire, I became the Alpha after my father died and have not been with any woman.

" You also need to have an heir" he whispered into my ears.

I know about that. But marrying the daughter of my enemy was never something I wished to do. In as much as my pack needs an heir, I wanted to lay with a woman I had little affection for.

" Is that the last option we have?" He asked them.

" It's the only option we have," the council leader said.

I hated their Pack, I hated their Alpha. There was a lot of resolved hate and pain between us that I wondered why marriage should be the last option.

" Fine," I said.

There were so many questions in my heart and I do not know who to ask, or maybe I know who to ask but I do not want to go over to the old witch. She smells of alcohol all the time but her words were true all the time.

I turned to the leader of the council.

" Can I speak to you, alone?" I asked.

" Sure"

He followed me out of the meeting, and we walked to the study.

" I want to know what she is like, I mean the woman I am going to marry, do you know something about her?" I asked him.

" I do, she is a pretty woman, who has healing powers. She lost her mother, who was killed by our soldiers," he said.

A pretty woman, I think I have seen her face once, she has an overprotective father. But what struck me was when he said she had healing powers, I have heard that before, but I could not believe it.

" She will be of great help to me," I said.

" She will?" He looked at me.

I can't tell him about my illness, since she has healing powers that were connected to the moon goddess, she can do something about my illness.

" Of course" I nodded my head without giving him any context.

"You will have to meet her before you two take the vow" he said.

The vow? It was more like an oath, I was doing this for my health and for my pack. But I can not forget that the Lunar Dominion Pack killed my brother right at the waters where their queen was killed as well.

They first took my brother, and my Pack took their queen. I was getting married to the woman whose soldiers killed my brother right where my people killed her mother.

It felt like they deserve whatever pain they are going through right now, let them feel the pain that I felt when I lost my only brother to that fight.

I folded my hands as it began to get cold, I was getting upset and this was the reaction I got from it. A lot of other things go wrong with me but I'll only fight till my last breath.
