Se connecterI was panting heavily, my tired arms hanging limp and devoid of any strength.
So the result was still the same after all, huh?
I had tried to the point of exhausting all my strength, but I still couldn't meet the minimum physical requirements for a Beta to become a full-time student.
I stood there in silence, thinking to myself.
"So it's finally over, huh? I'm going to end like this..."
Mocking laughter rang out from behind me, malicious glares seemingly piercing into me. I didn't need to look back to imagine what they were saying.
The words of ridicule, sarcasm, and comparisons to Ivy, saying I shouldn't have been born into this world. Those were the words I had heard so often since childhood that I knew them by heart.
At first, hearing them made me angry, but after a while, I got used to it. Reacting only made them say harsher things, and I was the one who had to endure it anyway. Since nothing was going to change, staying silent was the best choice.
So all my efforts had become meaningless. But ending like this was probably a good thing. At least I wouldn't have to keep enduring the unreasonable bullying from the other students here.
Maybe I truly didn't belong in this place. I should just go back to the Taylor Pack, live a quiet life as if I were dead, and marry some wolf willing to protect me. That would be better.
Though I myself didn't even know if someone like that would ever appear in my life...
The noise behind me suddenly fell into an eerie silence, replaced by the sound of strong footsteps. Two figures stood blocking my path ahead of me, Lucian Kingsley and my sister, Ivy Taylor.
Lucian tilted his head, looking at me with eyes that held both curiosity and disdain. He turned to glance at Ivy, smiled faintly, then looked at the supervisor and spoke arrogantly.
"This academy allows a Lycan to bring two servants to attend classes. This girl will become my servant. You don't have any objections, do you, sir?"
I was startled and confused. A servant for the Lycan? Why me?
"I..."
As I stammered, Lucian shot me a fierce glare as if telling me to stay silent.
Right, I had never had a choice. A noble Lycan like him had the right to choose whoever he wanted; my opinion didn't matter.
The academy teacher didn't dare raise any objection in front of Lucian either, so in the end, I was accepted as a student on the basis of being Lucian's servant.
I sighed and quietly returned to my dorm room, weary. Just as I was about to lie down on the bed, a knock came at the door, it turned out to be Ivy.
Ivy looked at me and said,
"This is your last chance. Do your duty as a servant well. It was I who asked Lucian, and that's why he agreed. You'd better be sensible."
I pressed my lips together, thinking for a long time before daring to ask,
"Why did you go that far for me? Wouldn't it be better to just let me go back to the Pack?"
Ivy crossed her arms and let out a helpless sigh.
"Don't come back to the Pack on your own without me. Become strong enough to protect yourself, that's the only thing I can do to help you, so I hope you understand."
With that, she turned and left. Although Ivy didn't say it explicitly, I had a feeling she was trying to tell me that I shouldn't return to the Pack alone.
I didn't know the reason why, but I had no other choice, so I could only follow her advice.
Thanks to becoming the Lycan's servant, I had a fairly peaceful school life and was bullied less. Everyone understood Lucian's unpredictable temper, so they didn't dare do anything too excessive to me. They were afraid that one slight mistake might displease Lucian, and they had no idea how disastrous that would be.
However, the price of that peace was losing my freedom.
"Hey! Omega, bring the towel and water over here! What the hell are you doing just standing there dazed like that!"
Startled by Lucian's call, I frantically grabbed the towel and water bottle and hurried down to the sports field to hand them to him. On the days Lucian was at the field,I had to carry a very large bag containing clothes, towels, water, and other necessities for him.
The first few days were truly a bit tiring since I wasn't used to it, but afterward, I gradually got used to it. Compared to a life of being bullied with beatings, this is still much gentler.
Lucian tossed me a water bottle and said.
"Next time, don't make me wait. You should know to come in on your own."
I just gave a slight nod. After all, I am his servant now, and Lucian probably doesn't like a talkative servant.
I was glad that he didn't nitpick about me not answering him but just nodding. I've been working for him for a few days now, but except for when I'm asked a question and have to respond, I haven't said anything else to him.
Lucian seems quite satisfied with that.
I don't know if he deliberately reminds me of my status or not, but Lucian has never called me by my name. He only calls me Omega.
I secretly laughed scornfully in my heart.
"Oh no, maybe he doesn't even care what my name is."
I don't expect too much from that, so it's fine either way.
Lucian looked at me, furrowed his brow, and suddenly said.
"There's going to be a masquerade party soon. You'll come with me. Remember to dress nicely and don't embarrass me."
Chapter 20: Caught My steps had long become unsteady, my heart pounding so fast I felt like my chest was about to explode. That bastard Lucian, why on earth wouldn't he just give this up?I knew very well that if I were truly caught this time, there would be no way to hide it anymore.Lucian wouldn't believe any explanation from me, and the truth that I was a powerful Healer would become my fatal weakness. When I was little, there was a very skilled Healer in the Pack. She had a kind face, but there was always a hint of sorrow in her expression. In my mind back then, a Healer was someone who carried the power of healing and had a heart that loved everyone. But that Healer never seemed happy, and she would get very irritable when she had to treat someone. I didn't understand at the time why she was like that, wasn't having the ability to save everyone a wonderful thing? It wasn't until I grew a bit older that I learned why she was never happy about it.Because being a Healer for the P
Chapter 19: Being discovered by scent!Nathan seemed somewhat surprised by my cold attitude. He raised an eyebrow and quietly asked again."Did I do something to make you unhappy? You look dissatisfied."I silently sighed inwardly. Was he really unaware, which was why he asked? That's right, he was also a proud, foolish Alpha. Even if I told him about my hardships and troubles, he probably wouldn't understand.I rolled my eyes, casually replied with a sentence, then waved my hand in farewell."Think whatever you want. If there's nothing else, I'll be on my way."I left without even bothering to look back to see Nathan's expression. Although he spoke and behaved quite politely toward me, the fact that the club members left all the work to a girl like me to do was still an undeniable truth. At the end of that day, just like other days, I stayed alone to clean up after training. While I was putting away the training equipment in the room, a thunderclap outside rang out, startling me so m
Chapter 18: The Rivalry Between the LycansA few days after becoming the manager, I gradually got familiar with my work. At first, since I wasn't used to it, I found it quite tough, but after getting the hang of it and developing a certain feel for it, I started to think this job wasn't too bad.Of course, the way the team members treated me was still... terribly bad!But one good thing I got from becoming the manager was that, because I was so busy, I went straight there after class and didn't cross paths with anyone else, so no one could deliberately bully me anymore.I sighed, muttering to myself while hanging up the team members' uniforms."I should be grateful they aren't treating me cruelly. At least they aren't trying to pick on me."Although the team members weren't too friendly toward me and piled a lot of work on my shoulders, they were actually better than the other students at the academy. Because their arrogance was quite high, a small person like me naturally couldn't ca
Chapter 17: The Hard WorkEarly the next morning, I held the application form in my hand and walked straight to the football club room. I had thought it over all night, struggled with it all night before making this decision.Even though I knew this path wouldn't be easy for me, this was already my final choice. Facing the deep sea ahead and the abyss behind, there was no point comparing which was better.Of course, I had no passion for the football club, and I couldn't understand what that bastard Lucian was thinking by dragging me into this position.I stood in front of the club room door for a long while before knocking and stepping inside. As I walked in, I happened to run into the former female manager who was packing up her belongings and getting ready to leave. When she saw me holding the form in my hand, she pointed toward the table near the window and spoke."You're here to submit an application, just leave it there and someone will come by to review and approve it. It'll pro
Chapter 16: Unable to Resist LucianI raised my hand and gently pushed Lucian's hand away from my face, speaking softly."Don't touch me casually."Lucian looked at me with a surprised and intrigued expression. He didn't seem angry about what I had just done.Actually, I couldn't understand Lucian at all, precisely because I didn't know where his limits were and how disrespectful I could be. Over the past few days, there were times Lucian would get angry over very small and unexpected things. He seemed to dislike others going against his words, perhaps because the pride of a high-ranking Lycan didn't allow being looked down upon to happen. Lucian easily lost his temper with those around him over just a small action of theirs. But he didn't get angry at my attitude, I didn't know the exact reason, but it seemed Lucian was quite... tolerant of me.Lucian crossed his arms, leaned against the window, and looked at me with the gaze of a god looking down from above. He let out a cold snort
Chapter 15: Managing the Football TeamMonica looked at me with a puzzled expression, she smiled and lightly patted my shoulder before speaking."Come on, don't be sad, everything will be fine. If you find things too difficult and need someone to talk to, just let me know. I might not be able to help much, but I think your sorrow will ease a little when you share it with others."I smiled, nodded, and replied softly."Alright, thank you for listening to what I had to say."After that, Monica left, and the feeling inside me truly did become much lighter. Even though that day was still a terrible one for me, at least when I sat on the balcony, I saw a very beautiful sunset at the far end of the horizon.Perhaps gloomy, unhappy days all come to an end eventually. Although that ending didn't make me feel any happier, it seemed not all endings were ugly and frightening. At least on that afternoon, I knew I had friends who were willing to listen to what I said and help me quietly and silent
