DAMON
“Drop your sabers, Mr. and Mrs. Claw,” Luciano said smoothly, his voice carrying an unnatural weight that sent chills down my spine. He casually stood, pulling his pants on with an unbothered air, as if he hadn’t just turned my world upside down. “Now, walk to your room, get some rest, and forget everything you saw tonight. It’s better that way—for all of us.”
I blinked, stunned into silence as my parents immediately obeyed. Their weapons clattered to the ground, and without a word, they turned and walked out, their faces blank and eerily calm. It was as if they were sleepwalking, utterly detached from reality.
“What the hell…” I whispered, watching them disappear into the hallway. “Why are they doing what you said? Did you hypnotize them?”
Luciano’s gaze flicked to me, his expression unreadable. He adjusted the cuffs of his shirt like this was the most mundane thing in the world. “You could say I… encouraged them. It’s a little trick I’ve picked up over the years.”
I stepped closer, desperate for clarity. “They won’t remember anything when they wake up, right? Please tell me they won’t.”
He tilted his head slightly, a faint smirk tugging at the corners of his lips. “No, they won’t. I’ve ensured they’ll wake up blissfully ignorant.” He paused, his dark eyes locking onto mine. “You looked like you were about to faint back there. I couldn’t let that happen, could I?”
"Luciano, you fucking asshole. You think that would be a blissful way to gain my trust, don't you? Apart from forgetting, what else would happen to them?" I stepped closer, locking my gaze with his so my message that I didn't trust him one bit would get passed on and received properly.
"Shouldn't you be thanking me?" Luciano tilted his head to a side and I gritted my teeth together. It's imperative for me to remember that I and this man was having sex few minutes ago.
"What else might happen to them? You can't just encanto my parents and expect me to believe and thank you. Vampires are not trustworthy!" I yelled and he raised his hands like he was in surrender.
"Encanto? I wouldn't believe you know what the word means but trust me, there are no side effects. I was just saving your life, as always. A thank you is necessary." I stated.
"Fuck you."
Luciano’s smirk deepened, and there was something in his expression—something dark and knowing—that made my stomach twist in both fear and longing. “Oh, Damon,” he purred, his voice like velvet laced with sin, “there are far more interesting ways I’d prefer to be thanked… but we’ll save that for another night.”
Before I could respond, he stepped closer and brushed a kiss against my forehead, lingering just long enough to leave my skin tingling.
“I have somewhere to be, *Pooh Bear.*” The nickname sounded almost taunting as it rolled off his tongue. He buttoned his shirt with deliberate precision, his movements slow and calculated. “Enjoy your night. For now.”
And just like that, he turned and slipped out of the room, leaving me alone with the echoes of his words—and the unmistakable reminder that, no matter how much I wanted to believe otherwise, Luciano Salvatore was not a man I could ever truly control.
The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual, my nerves already on edge.
I needed to confirm whether my parents truly remembered nothing—or if Luciano’s powers whatsoever had failed to erase the events of the previous night and if there had been any side effects.
*Side effects* The thought itself had kept me on edge the enter night.
“Good morning, Mum. Morning, Dad,” I greeted, forcing a casual tone as they walked into the kitchen. My fists clenched and unclenched in my pockets, the nervous energy practically coursing through my body.
“You’re up early,” Mum remarked, heading straight for the coffee machine. Her voice was as calm and familiar as ever, but I couldn’t shake the anxiety twisting in my gut.
“You look exhausted,” I said, trying to sound conversational while carefully observing her every move.
“Was the ceremony that unbearable? I left right after I got my task.” Dad chuckled lightly as he grabbed a slice of toast.
“Ceremonies are always exhausting, son. You’ll get used to it.” I hesitated, deciding to push a little further.
“Speaking of tasks…” I trailed off, keeping my tone neutral.
“Oh!” Mum turned back to face me, her expression suddenly thoughtful. “You know, I had the strangest dream last night. I could’ve sworn I saw Luciano Salvatore.”
My stomach dropped, but I forced a small smile as I bit the inside of my cheek to keep calm.
“Really?” I asked, my voice tight.
Dad frowned, his brows knitting together.
“That’s odd. I had the same dream. He looked… familiar, almost friendly.”
“Right? That's how he was in my own dream.” Mum said raising her head like she was trying to remember.
“Tsk, forget it. I’m too tired to even think.” He paused, exchanging a glance with Mum. “You need to be careful. Dreams like that can be a sign. Luciano Salvatore is dangerous.” Mum nodded, her face etched with concern.
“If he’s your task, the best way to handle it is simple: get close to him. Make him trust you. Pretend to be a friend.” Her voice dropped to a whisper, as if the walls themselves might overhear. “And then strike when he least expects it.”
They didn’t remember last night. Not a single thing.
And yet, somehow, Luciano still lingered in their subconscious.
This is interesting. Absolutely interesting.
DamonIt had been two days since Luca had visited and seen my apartment. Two days of going to work and coming back to an empty house. I remembered a lot from that day and I couldn't help but miss it. I was missing Luca which was something I wasn't going to tell him, it would make him too pompous. He had seen my house and was very impressed with it. Talking about wanting something like mine when he finally got the job. We had an interesting night playing games, eating and drinking. We had to get drunk as usual since we were free from our parents watching over our shoulders. It had been a night, I had used it to relax and try and enjoy myself because I knew work would soon get busy and I wouldn't have that luxury. He had gone for the interview a day ago but hadn't gotten any feedback so we were patiently waiting. I wondered if it would be my branch or another. Once again today I had worked without seeing a boss I didn't have. I was only grateful that it wasn't a lot of work becaus
DamonI was in my office when about an hour passed by, an hour I spent doing next to nothing because I wasn't given any task yet. I had been waiting for Dave to come get me since he had said he would be the one to give me my tasks for the day. I wondered how strange it would be working for a boss I couldn't see. I stood up from my chair because I had been seated for a while so I could get up and walk around. There was a limit to texting Luca as well. He had told me he would come see my apartment later in the evening and maybe sleep over before going back home to prepare for his interview. I couldn't deny my excitement for him to see my apartment. It was like a pride I now had and showing it off felt like something good. Another hour had gone by when there came a knock on my door before Dave walked in. He had his laptop in his hand and a smile on his face. “Well, hello there. I'm here for the briefing, the supervisor made sure to keep me busy. I'm sorry for keeping you here” he a
DamonI woke up with a jolt, sitting up straight and looking around, wondering where I was. It took a while for me to remember that I was in my new apartment. I groaned, sitting up. I had slept off while watching an episode of the originals. Which was ironic if you asked me. “Fuck" i muttered as I stood up and stretched. I hadn't slept well, so there was an ache but nothing a little stretching didn't fix. I picked my phone up to see what the time was. It was just a few minutes to twelve. I moved to the bedroom after turning the TV off and fell onto it. I hadn't taken a shower before sleeping but I could miss for a day. I slept off almost immediately but woke up to my alarm blaring in my ears after a few hours. I wanted to wake up early enough so I could prepare and still be early. I had sorted out my work clothes so I simply put them on the ironing board so I would iron them out. Then I went to brush my teeth. When I was done with that, I took a shower and ironed my clothes befo
DamonMom dropped me back at home and went home. She would be sending my car to me in a few hours and so I used the time to arrange everything. I hung my clothes up how I wanted them to be. Then I arranged my room in a way I liked before going to the sitting room and kitchen. I arranged everything over there as well. I noticed some things I would need to buy to make this place look more like home and noted them down in my head. There was even a TV, I turned it on to see what it did and if I could connect my Netflix to it. I turned it on and surprisingly it had already subscribed to Netflix. It was the name that caught my eye and was all the reason to know why it was subscribed to already. It read as, ‘I hope you're thinking of me’I didn't need an expert to tell me that this was Luciano. He would be the only one to make that a username. His way of reminding me he was here. He hadn't replied to my texts in all that time and hadn't reached out. I knew I couldn't exactly text and te
Chapter 76Damon We went up to my flat. It was to the right so I made sure we went that way and didn't make a mistake. Surprisingly cards instead of keys were used to get in. In a way I was grateful for that, I wouldn't have to worry about someone breaking in by tampering with the key but I had forgotten to ask what happened if I lost my card. How would I get another one? Anyway, I pushed the thoughts to the back of my mind. I would call the caretaker later and ask about that. This would be my first time in the flat so when I pushed the door open and walked in I was just as shocked as mom to see how big the room was. The spaciousness from just the living room was a lot. It looked like a whole bungalow and not just an apartment. We went further in. “This is a great space darling. It's a good deal and for how long?" She was asking about how long the renting would be for. I shrugged, this was where the surprising facts really came in. “It's for two years mom" I announced. I hadn't
Chapter 75DamonA week had passed since taking my vows and in that time, so much and so little had changed it was almost making me mad. After we said our vows, Mariam and I stood by the side while an elder came to us. Mr Zeke handed both our certificates to him and one by one we took it. He shook each of our hands as he handed it, whispering congratulations to us. When we were done with that, Mr Zeke read the next thing. After our vows there was something else left to do before everything would be sealed and the ceremonies would be done. We still had to drop our blood in the ever burning fire and make a promise again that we would never turn our backs on hunting. An elder would be the one to supervise this time. They would hold our hands and hand us the sacred razor for us to cut our palms. An elder, a different one from the one who handed us our certificates came to us and we followed him to the fire. It was called ever burning because no one had ever seen it go off. Someone
