Chapter 67

The sun had set when Violet was sitting on a bed in her room. She was staring at a wood carving in the shape of a violet flower in her hands. It was Darius who carved it for her and gave it to her as her birthday present. She took it with her when she and her mother ran away from their palace.

She touched the flower stalk with her heart beating fast in fear. "Don't be afraid. You have to do that. You have to kill him to save him," she told herself over and over again.
