"What? You'll be away for five days?" I asked.

Daniel just told me he'll be away on a business trip for five days after breakfast.

He nodded his head.

"Why are you just telling me now?" I asked, keeping a neutral tone to prevent him knowing how much I dreaded the fact that he's going to be away for five days, even though I had the dogs, Elsie and Kareem to keep me company.
