“You're perfect,” Daniel whispered, his large hands moving urgently over my body, one settling on my waist and the other moving up towards the gentle swell of my breast. “Right here, right now, in this moment, in this garden, you're perfect.” **** In order to secure a lucrative contract, Daniel Sutherland needed a wife for a year. A wife he could court in public, and share a bed with at night. But who could he find to fulfill this special position? When a grave illness almost took the life of her step mom and when her fiance ended things with her after betraying her, Jessica Adams was ready to grasp at any straw to salvage what's left of her esteem as a woman and more importantly to save her stepmom's life. And when Daniel asked her to marry him for a year, it suited her to accept. She had no feelings for Daniel or he for her- or so she thought, until Crystal Rodriguez came back into his life. And by then, it was too late.

“Damn that Albert! He's a fucking scum of a man and he's not even worth your tears. He's not even worth you. It's his loss baby girl. He lost!” Grace, my step sister, said angrily after I told her I caught my boyfriend of three years cheating on me with my best friend.
“And Isabella is a snake! That snake! That sneaky bitch! I knew it, I suspected she didn't really like you. She just got close to you so she can have access to Albert. That fucking snake!” Grace lashed out at Isabella too.
“I feel so broken and hurt. I thought he really loved me but he's just using me. He said it to my face that he's just using me. I shouldn't have gone to his house without his notice and I wouldn't have seen him with Isabella” I lamented.
“So you prefer to keep being in the dark while they have fun and laugh at you behind your back?? Look, it's a good thing you found out already. It's time for you to move on with your life. I never liked Albert for you anyway, he's too stingy, controlling and demanding.”
“I wondered how you couldn't see it, I wondered how you couldn't see that he's not the right one for you” Grace said, hugging me because I was starting to cry.
“I was too deep in love to even see the signs that he wasn't the one for me. I feel so stupid right now” I said.
“You'll be fine. Just go and take your bath, dress up and I'll take you somewhere to chill out” she said and disentangled from the hug.
“Hope it is not one of those clubs you do sneak out to at night?” I said and she feigned surprise.
“So you knew!” She exclaimed and laughed.
“Yes, but I never told mom” I replied.
“Why didn't you say a thing about it to me??” She asked.
“Maybe because I didn't want to??”
She grinned.
“Well, I'm taking you to one of those places to chill out,” she said.
“Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not going” I said and wiped my eyes.
She frowned. “You must come with me. Besides, it's friday. Let's go party!”
“Only if you drag me with a rope, then maybe, yeah” I teased and we laughed.
But later that night, I willingly went into the bathroom to take my bath and change into a dress I felt was club-like.
I really needed to chill out, so many things were happening at once and I prolly needed a drink or two to clear my head. Plus, I wanted to know how it feels being in a club.
I've never been to one before because I'm always the stuck up, reserved, calm and shy girl. Tonight, I want to loosen up a bit.
Grace was waiting for me in the sitting room when I came out of our room. She had taken her bath and was fully dressed.
Her eyes sized me up and down and she shook her head unimpressed.
“First of all, Sis, those glasses of yours need to go!” She frowned.
“I can't see properly without my glasses!” I retorted.
“It doesn't matter. It's going to be dark and you don't need to see much” she replied.
“If I'm not using my glasses, then I'm not going” I said and she sighed loudly.
“Okay, can you at least loosen your hair and allow it to fall freely on your shoulders? And don't you have a sexier gown to wear? You look like a primary school teacher, no offense” Grace said and I moaned to suppress my frustration.
“I swear I'm gonna kill you” I said to her and she laughed.
“I'm sorry, but I'm gonna tell you the truth,” she said, still laughing.
“You know I don't fancy sexy dresses,” I said.
“And I would have given you one of mine if only you're chubby like me” she replied and I rolled my eyes.
“Grace, I'm not going there to look for a man. I don't even want no man around me now. I'm just going there to take a few drinks and clear my head, nothing more okay?” I said but she just stared at me mockingly.
I took the opportunity to stare at her and she's looking beautiful as always in that short, sexy red dress and heels. She looks exactly like her mom, beautiful, a very nice body shape and average height. Sometimes, I even get jealous of her beauty as I was the direct opposite.
I was tall, flat on every side, an average face and straight. Probably the reason why Albert left me.
I shook the thought off my head. I wouldn't think about him again.
“Let's get going already” I urged Grace to stop me from thinking about Albert.
“Alright, alright, let's go” she said and we walked out of the house and locked the door.
Just for tonight! I'll have fun just for tonight and go back to being the serious and reserved girl that I am in the morning.
The ride to the club was short and we stepped out of the cab after paying our transport fare.
I could hear the loud music from outside the club and I cringed. I am going to have a long night there!
When I stepped into the club, I realized that Grace was right and I shouldn't have come with my glasses as it was useless as I still couldn't see clearly in the dim lights at the club.
I rolled my eyes. I should have just stayed home, and why do I sense something dramatic coming up soon??
~JESSICA~The first thing I heard was the steady beep…beep…beep of a heart monitor. The second was a voice….low, broken, yet achingly familiar.“Jessica… please. Please open your eyes.”My eyelids felt heavy, but I forced them open. White walls. The sterile scent of antiseptic. A soft light above me. And then….Daniel.His face hovered above mine, his eyes rimmed red, his expression caught between disbelief and overwhelming relief. He looked like a man who had been drowning and had finally broken the surface.“Daniel…” My voice came out hoarse, barely a whisper. He choked on a laugh that was half a sob, pressing my hand against his cheek. “Oh, thank God. Jessica, sweetheart, you’re awake. I thought….” His voice broke. He buried his face against my palm, his body trembling. “I thought I was going to lose you.”Tears pricked my eyes as I squeezed his hand weakly. “I’m still here.”He lifted his head, his gaze locking with mine, raw and unguarded. “You scared the life out of me. ~DANIEL~After Leo’s arrest, I should’ve felt complete relief. But as the police cars disappeared into the distance, I realized there was still one thing left unfinished.I had bared my truth to the world, but I hadn’t bared it to the one person who mattered most….Jessica.Not in the way she deserved. Not with conditions. Not with contracts. Not with desperation. But with love. Our marriage had begun with papers, contracts, and deception. She had given me her love despite everything, and I wanted the world to see that this time… it wasn’t business. It was forever. So, for the first time in my life, I planned something unforgettable. Not for business, not for image, not for reputation… but simply for her. ~JESSICA~I thought we were attending another one of Daniel’s business galas, an extravagant charity ball hosted in a glass-domed ballroom overlooking the city skyline. The public criticism had calmed down, but we were yet to hear from Mr
~JESSICA~I sat in the back of the crowded press hall, my hands trembling as Daniel took the stage. My heart thundered in my chest, every nerve in my body on edge.I hadn’t known what he was going to say. I hadn’t even had the chance to ask. When he told me he was calling a press conference, I thought it would be about damage control….a carefully worded denial, a safe half-truth crafted by lawyers and PR.But as soon as the first words left his mouth, my blood ran cold.“The marriage between myself and Jessica Adams… began as a contract. A business arrangement. A lie.”Gasps echoed around me, but mine was the loudest in my own head. I froze, my breath catching in my throat. No, Daniel. Why would you admit it like that?Every flash of a camera felt like a dagger. Every furious murmur from the press like a blow. He was handing them the truth on a silver platter….the very thing we had fought so desperately to protect. And then… his voice shifted. Stronger. Cleare
~DANIEL~I stood in the mirror staring at myself all dressed up in suit.Jessica walked to me and adjusted my tie. I had told her I was calling a press conference but I didn't tell her what I had in mind to say.She would find out later. She's going with me to the press conference. She's also dressed in a beautiful black, short gown that fitted her so well even despite the shootout of her belly in the dress.I took my phone and dialed my lawyer's number. He answered the call almost immediately.“Mr. Sutherland,” he called.“Is everything set for the press conference?” I asked.“Yes” he replied.“Alright, I'll be there soon” I told him and dropped the call. The next person I called was my secretary.“Is everything set?” I asked her.“Yes, Sir. The bouncers are on their way to your house already” she informed me.Just then, I heard the sound of screeching tires outside the gate.“I think they're here” I told her. Immediately I ended the call. “Let's go, swee
~JESSICA~Mr. Isogawa's line clicked.“Jessica,” his deep voice came through, clipped and furious. “Do you have any idea the damage your little stunt has caused? Do you realize the humiliation I suffered this morning? My board, my shareholders—everyone is calling me a fool for trusting Sutherland!”Tears spilled down my cheeks, but I forced myself to speak, my voice trembling yet steady enough to carry. “Mr. Isogawa, please… this was all my fault. Not Daniel’s.”There was a pause on the line. “What?” he demanded sharply.I swallowed hard, choosing my words carefully. “Daniel… he liked me. He… he wanted me. But I didn’t feel the same back then. I didn’t want to be with him, so I only agreed to the arrangement on one condition—that it was a fake marriage. He signed it for me, because he loved me that much.”Silence. My hands shook as I clutched the phone tighter. “But then… then everything changed. I fell in love with him. Completely. Truly. We’ve been together ev
~DANIEL~My lawyer’s words echoed in my ears as I hurriedly unlocked my phone. My heart dropped the moment the screen lit up with endless notifications….news alerts, emails, dozens of missed calls. The headlines glared back at me like a cruel joke:“Daniel Sutherland’s Marriage a Sham?”“Exposed: Fake Marriage Contract Between Sutherland and Jessica Adams!”“Corporate Fraud or Strategic Betrayal?”My stomach clenched. The file. Somehow, someone had leaked the damn contract.I scrubbed a hand over my face, my pulse hammering. “Who leaked it?” I asked the lawyer through clenched teeth.“We don’t know yet,” he replied quickly, “but the news is everywhere. Every blog, every outlet, every shareholder group chat. It’s spreading like wildfire.”Before I could reply, another call came through….this time from my assistant. I switched lines, my voice sharp. “What?”“Sir, the CEO of the Armitage companies just called. He’s livid. He’s demanding answers. If this story is true, he said the partners
