chapter three

In the morning of the next day, Kimmy was in a hurry to get to work. She had barely up to thirty minutes to get to work,she had already been late to work twice this week already and didn't want to be late again today.

Kimmy could already imagine the angry face of Mrs Nora standing at the entrance of the shop. She hurriedly ate her breakfast and ran out of the house,she didn't even stop to respond to her neighbours greetings.

The only thought on her mind now was to get to work on time,all order things were secondary to her, including the incident that happened the previous day which she seemed to have forgotten.

She was half running and walking to the store which was a thirty minutes walk from her house, Kimmy didn't have enough money to enter a cab cause all the money she had have been spent on her mother's treatment so she had no choice than to run along. She decided to take the route down the alley, pushing back the fear that rose when she remembered the event that occurred the previous night.

" What could possibly go wrong?" Kimmy said to herself and walked ahead. Just as she got to the end of the alley she saw a car packed by the side and a man smoking in front of the car.

Kimmy was frightened by the man but she pushed herself to continue walking. Just as she was about to pass the car,another man came out from the back seat and pointed at her.

" That's the girl... she's the one". The man said pointing at her. Kimmy felt her heart leap out if her chest,she began trembling as she sensed danger. The first thought that came to her mind was to run but before she could even take a step,the man who had been smoking in front of the car lunged forward and grabbed her, dragging her towards the car.

Kimmy tried to fight back with every strength in her but she was simply too weak compared to the man that held her. He violently pushed her to kneel at his front.

" Where is he?" He asked. The stench of the cigarette coming from his mouth made Kimmy choke. She looked up at the man,he looked very rough like a thug and was missing two fingers on his left hand. She was confused by the question,what man were they talking about.

" I don't who you're talking about..I don't know any man." Kimmy said stuttering out of fear. Just as she finished speaking the other man dragged her hair from the back making her wince in pain.

" Do you think we're here to joke..you better answer the question before I chop off your hands." He said as he held on to her hair. The pain from her hair made her eyes roll inwards,she could feel her scalp tearing.

" I'm being honest with you I don't know who you're talking about." Kimmy said as tears flooded her eyes. Deep down something told her all of this was connected to the man she rescued the previous night.

" Maybe we should break one of her leg to make her talk." The first guy said to the other. Kimmy tensed up immediately when she heard this,she had to do something quickly,but what could she possibly do. Just as the guy moved to pick up a stick lying on the ground Kimmy began to scream.

" I swear I don't know who he is,I just helped him cause he was injured..I have nothing to do with him." She said at the last minute but immediately regretted it because now the guys seemed very interested.

" Let's take her back to base...boss will be very happy about this." The man said as he moved to drag Kimmy into the car.

Kimmy felt her world crumbling down, this was it...this was her end. She knew if they took her to their base she wouldn't come out alive. She thought about her mother in the hospital,who would take care of her in her absence.

Just as she was already resigning to her fate,she heard a gunshot.

The hands that was dragging her was still,she turned back and saw a bullet hole on his head,he fell back with a loud thud. Kimmy jumped in fear, she didn't know who shot or who was the next target. She crotched down in panick.

The other guy rushed to hold her but was shot in the waist just before he could hold her. He screamed in pain. A figure emerged from the shadows and walked towards them. He stopped right in front of her and lifted her up.

" Come with me... you're not safe here." He said. Kimmy looked at her saviour and recognised him to be one of the men who had come to carry the stranger out of her house. She was right all along,this had something to do with that man.

She had no choice than to follow him,at least for now till she was sure she was out of danger. Just as they were leaving,the man on the ground moved to bring out a gun from his jacket but was immediately shot on the head.

Kimmy cringed at the sight of the blood,she had just seen two men shot dead in her front. This was going to cause nightmares for her.

She followed her saviour to his car and they quickly drove off, when she made sure they were far away from the alley Kimmy turned to the man and asked.

" Who are you and where are you taking me to?" She asked.

" I'm taking you to my boss... you're not safe here anymore." The man replied as he focused on the road ahead. He had a cold expression on his face and looked no less than the two men that had ambushed her.

A thought came to Kimmy's mind, have she been involved with a mafia gang because that could only explain everything that was happening.

Things were getting worse... but she could never have imagined what layed in wait for her.
