The room door burst open again and her roommate walked in again this time without the boy.

“ I know I didn't do a proper introduction but I'm Miranda but you can call me Mira for short” she stretched her hands for a handshake.

Ava quietly cleaned her tears and stood to introduce herself but Mira beat her to it “your Ava I know that already”.

“From my thoughts I guess”

“Yeah you had a truck load and I just had to search to find cause you kept repeating it…anyways what's your abilities”.

“ Well the school nurse.. said I've got five that includes mind reading but sadly I just discovered it this morning and I can't seem to use it anymore”.

“Mira let out a laugh “ it's not that simple Ava…it needs concentration to learn mind reading”.

Bell suddenly rang cutting mira off — she heard cheers then screams and feets running.

“Woah that's my cue” Mira blushed.

“What's that” she asked curiously.

“Well it's the festival night and also dinner time, so we gotta go”.

“ We…you mean me and you?”.

“ Yes or aren't you hungry”

“No..” she lied but her stomach grumbled loudly, Mira gave her the I know look— she almost hid her face in embarrassment.

She changed into her black pants and hoodie despite miras protest to add makeup or at least wear a skimpy gown. She'd tuned down all her requests and insisted on wearing just pants and hoodie.

“I seriously think you're a nerd at this point” Mira mumbled mouth full chewing on fries.

“You're gonna choke” she reminded her.

Mira mumbled what she couldn't hear and continued eating, she turned to take in the hall, it was pretty in a kind of way. Someone pushed her aside and sat beside her it was the boy form the room.

“Honey gawking at this place isn't what you have to do this night…your to get laid”.

“I'm sorry whaa?”

Mira chuckled “don't mind him…you've met him already he's Zach and his been my best friend since I first arrived nevermore”.

“Your gay best friend” Ava rolled her eyes playfully.

Zach laughed and wanted to say something— the hall roared and then everyone started getting on their feets, she watched as Zach and Mira stood on their feets, Mira nudged her slowly to get on her feets but it was too late a guy stood in front of her.

Silver hair

Blue dreamy eyes

Broad shoulders

Her eyes moved to his lips they were curled in a smirk. “Done looking huh?’.

She rolled her eyes feeling annoyed “ you must think Highly of yourself to think I was looking”

The whole hall gasped, Mira nudged her again”what is it?” She snapped at Mira.

The guys smirk got wider, then she heard it.

“You're a mind reader right?” She turned she didn't hear anyone speak “you dummy I'm speaking through my mind listen”.

Wait what? Someone was speaking to her through his mind so people actually did that.

“I..I..” she stammered.

“You dummy speak through your mind too, who the hell are you?” He asked with his mind.

The hall just watched the two as they stared at each other none moving, for others it was a staring competition but for them they were talking and she was doing a hell heck of a job insulting him.

He frowned after she called him an entitled brat— before she could fathom his next move, he emptied the plate of spaghetti she'd been eating on her head, she gasped.

“Are you crazy?” She picked Zach's plate of soup and dumped it on his head.

The whole hall froze none spoke—silence, he still maintained his coldness and walked off.

“ Are you okay” Mira asked pulling her down.

“Yes I'm fine” she mummured.

“Girllllllllllllllll you on fire” Zach screamed laughing as he clocked it.

“Zach, she just humiliated the school's heartthrob and one of the school's top ten, and your saying she's on fire instead of shes in fire cause hell yeah she's gonna be getting em hates”.

“Wait… is this some high school cliche I thought we were past that”.

“Well in this school..you aren't past anything you just annoyed the top 1 of the school”.

“Top 1?..what's that”.

Mira and Zach exchange glances.

“You tell her” Zach said.

“Well the school has a system, top 10 and 20…top 10 are the high class they rule the school and they make the rules only after Axel approves them.

“And whose Axel??”

“ The guy you just insulted.. apparently he’s father is one of the co founders of the school and he has seven abilities packed together and his hot soooo..that keeps him in the top 1 as always”

Ava let out a laugh “so he's just some Daddy's boy with money..no wonder his spoilt”

“Shhhs..” Mira sushed her “his back in the cafeteria and his a mind reader a legendary one at that, and his got a hearing sense”.

It dawned on her “wait…he's a mind reader?”

“Yes he is..what happened?”

“He…he made me read his mind”

“ He made you what..no no no this isn't good ava the last person he let to do that was dead the next morning you need to apologize to him”

“Apologize to him? Thats never possible I'll never do that”

Zach screamed delighted, the hall turned to their direction he quickly glasped his mouth, after making sure everyone were now minding their business he spoke up.

“Seriously your a fire queen, clock it girllllllllllllllll”.

Mira hit Zach softly “you know she's in trouble you should stop, I..” she paused her mouth flew open, her eyes fixed somewhere Ava followed her eyes, a guy walked into the cafeteria dressed like he'd just walked out of a fashion magazine.

She gently nudged Mira “Mira Mira” she called.

“Ignore her, she'll never reply” Zach said munching on what was left of his plates.

“Sorry about that” she pointed at this plate.

“Ohh not to worry…my boyfriend works at the kitchen so it's easier to get another plate”.

“Boyfriend?”.

Zach nodded, she seemed bewildered she’d never seen a gay before and having one beside her felt overwhelming. Just then notification sounds chimed all over the hall everyone picked up their phones, Zach picked up his.

“Ohh this is not good” he exclaimed tugging on miras shirt till she finally woke from her fantasy.

“What?”

“This”

“Oh no this is not good”

“What is not good?” Ava asked moving closer.

“There's a red card on you… it's” she paused. “ This is not just good”

“Can you just tell me” Ava said confused.

“Well” Zach interrupted “it's the night of the festival and each night of the festival starts with a newbie being kind of tortured with mind games hosted by the number 1 himself”.

“Sooo..”

“Yes you've been chosen for this nights mind games” Mira said “anyone one who dares messes with kael raven Croft doesn't always stay normal to tell the tale, Ava those mind games are traumatizing his going to use your fear against you and…”

“Ava Sinclair” a voice echoed. No response.

“Ava Sinclair” the voice called again.

Mira held her down trying not to let her stand but she broke free and stood up, the moment she stood someone grabbed her and pushed her forward the hall jeered as she was dragged away.

At the upper grounds, fire lamps were lit side by side she saw him kael ravencroft he sat on a chair waiting his eyes fixed on her.

He unlocked his mind for a second and let her in.

*Welcome Mama Bear, I'll deal with you*.

That all she heard and then his mind was locked back, he smiled and stood from the chair he's hands found her head she shrugged him off— he chuckled and closed his eyes.

She groaned as she got hit by a splitting headache, she tried moving but her arms seemed stuck, the students jeers felt muffled— she felt her neck twist then she heard a whisper *sleep*.

As she slipped slowly into unconsciousness she heard a voice.

Stopp by then she'd already slipped off into the darkness.
