chapter 6

Ava groaned for the upteenth time and picked up miras electric fan the dorm was hot — no power supply for a week and barely no other electric connection she could only make do with miras fan.

“Seriously Ava you drafted a whole plan to pay kael back… you're really something” Mira said picking up the paper infront of her.

“Yes I did that and” she paused “I know your going to say he's the number one and shit but he embarrassed me and am not going to let it slide”.

Mira smiled and bit on her apple— silence fell in the room, for a second she wished Zach would just manevour in.

“Heyy ladies” Zach said from the window.

“Speak of the devil” she muttered.

“I can hear you” he said plunging onto miras bed.

“Zach am going to have to get a restraining order against you” Mira grumbled sitting up from her original position.

Zach smiled “only when your tired and weary of me shall I go” he gave a fake bow.

Just watching them brought a smile on her face a perfect distraction from the chaos shed spent the last 24 hours writing.

“And what have you been up to young lady?”. Zach asked catching sight of the paper infront of her.

“Ermmm…”

“Because of your stupid ideas she's plotting how to make kael pay…she thinks she can get to the top 10” Mira cut her off chatting away on her phone.

“Oh my gosh!” Zach grabbed the paper and went through it.

“No..no Ava you can't it's..”

“I'll understand if you don't want to help me but atleast could you not discourage me” she rolled her eyes snatching the paper back.

She'd made a decision— one she hadn't thought of till kael kept getting on her toes.. she needed to know what happened to her brother and if he was truly the top one he surely was the best person to ask.

“Am not in support of this” zach mumbled.

“Neither am I” Mira resorted her eyes fixed on her phone.

“Its fine” she mumbled sadly.

“Well lets lighten up the mood, why don't we play truth or dare tonight”

“Not interested I've got somewhere to be in 30 minutes” Mira said.

“Ouuuu…tell me is it Dennis” Zach moves closer a little excited.

Mira pushed him aside and puffed her gum “ yes at least his got electricity there and a hot shower”.

“Electricity?” Ava chipped.

“Yup.. the elites always got electricity 24/7.. it's different from the one powered by the school”.

Her mouth formed an oh now she knew why the were nicknamed the elites they were perfectly cut out from the rest of the school.

“So….”

“So…” Mira added and they all burst out laughing.

“Zach” she called.

“Yeah”

“There's someone I want to ask about” she whispered, Mira quickly sat up.

“Seems she has a crush I wanna here it too”.

“Tsk what crush” she rolled her eyes.

“So what is it?”

“Carlos Sinclair..do you guys know Carlos Sinclair” she asked.

The room fell silent expect for the silent vibrations from miras phone — Mira looked away and Zach seemed to be more interested in the broken lamp she'd tossed few weeks ago.

“Come on guys…do you know him”.

“For your safety I'll tell you”Zach said.

“Zachhh…” Mira stopped him.

“No seriously she has to know… he was a traitor to the academy”.

“A traitor?” She asked confused.

“Yes a traitor and you must never mention his name again or you'll get punished”

“Punished?”.

Zach sighed and glanced around to be sure no one was listening “ava the academy can either swallow you or you defeat it..it harbours secrets far from what the academy can control”. He paused then continued.

“You see those chains you want to fight for?...it's a blood bath you must survive”.

“What are you saying?”

“Stop Zach your scaring her” Mira interrupted.

But Ava was lost her mind ran in different directions…secrets? Her brother a traitor?.. she couldn't believe it Carlos was a good friend and sibling he would never hurt anyone.

“Am off” Mira giggled and rushed out of the room, before she could catch a full glimpse of her”.

When she was sure mira was gone, she resumed her interrogation.

“What happened” she asked Zach.

Zach stood up pretending not to hear her “I'll have to go it's past curfew” he said and hurried off through the window his usual pathway.

Ava collapsed on her bed her mind filled with thoughts..what were they hiding from her? What was she missing? And was Carlos being called a traitor.
