16. Roller-coaster of emotions
It started freezing as the moon shone up above in the sky. I quickly swam towards the deck. I got on my feet and my clothes, including me sneakers, duh, were all soaked up and dripped. I’d completely forgotten I’d worn only a blue jumpsuit and I groaned. I hated this feeling. The feeling of your clothes sticking to your body.
“Look at what you’ve done! I’m freaking wet because of you!” I whimpered at him, trying to get away the dress from sticking to my body. It felt so uncomfortable. And the cold breeze blowing didn’t make it any better.
Kevin just smirked and wriggled his eyebrows. Ew!!
“Seriously?!” I yelled as he pulled himself back on the deck. And I took that moment to push him back into the water.
“Hey!” he shrieked.

The next morning, I woke up to the sound of birds chirping right by my window. Apart from that, something had been tickling me around my arms. I groaned and opened my eyes slightly to see a baby spider running around my arm. I grunted. I would’ve been menaced by it a couple of days ago. But, I didn’t find it strange and disgusting anymore. I was used to watching it crawl down on its web and wander around our house. It still freaked the hell out of Nick though. “Nick! Cherry! Come over for some snacks!” Mom shouted, grilling the chickens and placing the already prepared ones on the melamine plates. We often served savoury chickens during family picnics. We’d always been a huge fan of mom’s recipe. It’s amazing how she made it so juicy and tender every time. I opened the homemade barbecue sauce and poured it on all of the plates placed on the table.“Smells good!” Nick exclaimed and reached for a plate. “Yum! This is heaven!”Mom grinned and placed a few more chicken on his plate. Cherry took a big bite of the chicken and jumped up and down, clearly loving the chicken and I giggled. “Aiv! What are you doing out here? It’s raining cats and dogs! I mean seriously? It’s pouring so heavily! “Mom, what’s starting? What are you talking about?” I asked.“Nothing. I dismissed the weird thoughts circling my mind and asked him to come in. He threw his hat on my bed and turned to face me.“Aiv.” he said gently, grabbing both my shoulders with his huge hands. He took a deep breath in and cleared his throat.“Look, whatever it is we’re dealing with right now. I promise I’ll never break our promise. I came here to assure you that. Alright? It’s funny how sometimes you’re strangely convinced to do things you thought you’d never do in life.
