CHAPTER 41: JOYCE'S VISIT

REAH'S POV 

I watched as Gamma Louis walked into Alpha Xavier's office and I let out a deep breath. 

"Don't mind him, he's a playboy," Fryster told me and I giggled. 

"He looks like it," I replied and with that, we both focused on our business. 

Later, The door opened and Gamma Louis walked out. He came to stand in front of my desk with a bright smile on his face "I'm done now. I will see you later, Reah," He said. 

"Alright, Gamma Louis. It was nice having you here today," I replied and he laughed. 

He waved at me and winked at Fryster before walking away. 

Fryster rolled his eyes "He's not going to let you rest anymore," He mumbled and I laughed. 

We continued with our work as it was still very early. Soon, my phone started ringing and I checked only to see that it was Joyce. 

"Babe?" I called after answering the call. 

"Reah, I'm in front of your company but they won't let me in. Can you come pick me up, please?" Joyce's annoyed voice rang from the other end of the call and my brows furrowed. 

I stood up from my seat, "I'm coming right away," Though she still needed to be scolded for coming without letting me know, I needed to help her out immediately. 

"I'm waiting, please," She replied and ended the call. 

"What's it?" Fryster asked curiously. 

"It's my friend. She's outside and they won't let her in. I have to go pick her up," I explained. 

Fryster nodded "Alright," He said and with that, I rushed away. 

I got outside and saw Joyce standing by Gabriel's car which she had brought with her. She walked toward me when she saw me and hugged me lightly "I missed you. You hardly answered your calls these days and would only reply with messages. I was worried Alpha Xavier was restricting you. Let me know, is he bullying you because you are human?" Joyce asked worriedly. 

I had underestimated our friendship. I should have known that she would suspect that something was wrong when I would rather text her than call her or return her call. 

"That's not it. You know I'm a newly Wed and also a new employee. I have a lot to learn at work and I have to help my husband release his stress at night. You should understand," I lied. 

Joyce rolled her eyes but she looked relieved. "Are you sure that's the case?" She asked and I nodded. "Ah Yes, I went to visit Mum in hospital and I found out her ward had been changed to a VIP. Who did it? Is it Alpha Xavier?" Her curious ass kicked in again. 

I laughed lightly and took her hand "He is the one but can we go up now? I can't leave my office for too long," I said and she giggled. 

"Yes, Yes, Miss Secretary," She joked. 

"Alpha Xavier is such a considerate person. He even knows how to take care of his in-laws. With the way he treated you after that one-night stand, I thought he wouldn't love you at all. Who would have imagined that he would adore you so much?" Joyce seemed very happy for me. 

By the time we were done talking, we already got to my office and Joyce saw Fryster sitting. Her eyes lit up and a dirty smile crossed her lips "Hello?" She greeted me even before I could introduce her. "I'm Joyce, Reah's best friend!" She introduced. 

"He's hot. I bet he's big down there!" She whispered in my ears!

I immediately covered my mouth and moved away from her, not wanting to be associated with her. 

Fryster looked at her and smiled "I'm Fryster. Alpha Xavier's Assistant," He said and returned his attention to his job. 

Knowing Fryster, introducing himself was a way of being respectful toward Joyce and that was the best he could do. 

Joyce felt slightly unhappy as she looked at me and moved closer again "What's he? Is he a kid? Why does he look so cold?" She whispered again. 

I rolled my eyes and clicked my tongue "He's cold because he doesn't like you," I replied. 

Joyce giggled "Who wants to be liked? I'm just a horny bitch in need of a big cock!" She whispered and I chuckled. 

I knew Joyce well and I was used to her fucking around with different men already. Joyce was the type that believed that having sex and falling in love were two very different things. She's always horny but she had never fallen in love. Well... I wouldn't call her a slut though as she only hook up with handsome men with big dicks and that was only once in a while...

"Why are you here though?" I asked her, wanting to change the embarrassing topic as I was scared Fryster might be listening. 

"Remember Gabriel's birthday is this weekend? I need to buy foodstuff for my birthday and I was thinking you would want to go with me. I can wait till it's lunchtime though," She replied. 

I turned to look at Fryster, "Is it possible to go out during lunch break?" I asked him. 

Fryster raised his head to look at me and nodded "The break is usually more than an hour. You could extend it to two hours if you want so you can go out. If anything, I will cover you up when Alpha Xavier asks of you. Just make sure you return early," He told me and a smile formed on my face. 

"Thanks, Fryster. You are the best!" I said excitedly and he chuckled. 

"Only for you," He replied and continued working on his laptop. 

Joyce dragged my hand to the side "Why do I feel like he is treating you like a younger sister?" She asked and my eyes twitched. 

"Fryster is treating me like a younger sister?" I was surprised. 

I had never thought of that before... Why would he treat me that way?
