Fighting him

"Missed you in the city. Wondered where you ran off to".

I snorted at him while the impulse to claw him out of this place grew stronger within me, a hot, restless thing coiling under my skin. “What are you doing here, Nash?” I asked, my jaw clenched and my hands twisting into fists at my sides.

I had met him a few times. He was always in the shadows, watching me while I killed his and Lex’s men. He took the information to his Alpha every time like a submissive Beta, eyes lowered, head bowed, ne

Thank you Author! But I’m confused why is Aurora so cocky and confident? She’s not a warrior and hasn’t trained so how is she better than the Beta? I want her empowered and smart but not like a high school bully! Sorry if this sounds harsh, but since her return she’s been arrogant & full of herself!

  • CAPTURED AS THE ALPHA’S SURROGATE   Renee is back

The tears after tears spilled from my eyes uncontrollably. I pressed my hand hard over my mouth, desperate to hold in the broken sobs, but the sounds still clawed their way out of me in ragged, choking gasps. The pain in my neck was terrible, raw, burning, deep and the fear was greater than every fear I had ever known. I had barely ever been afraid of anything in my life, but tonight I was terrified down to my bones. The clock was striking midnight. An hour had already passed since the horrific events, yet I could not get any sleep. I wasn’t going to. Sleep felt impossible, dangerous even. Every time I closed my eyes I saw it again: the twisted face, the unnatural speed and the blood.Whatever had attacked me tonight and killed people, Raymond was that. He was the same kind of monster as that man had been, and that monster was the most terrifying thing I had ever seen in all my years of living. The memory of it lived behind my eyelids, waiting.I wanted to blame someone for this. I w

  • CAPTURED AS THE ALPHA’S SURROGATE   Bitten by the monster

After Raymond parted from me, I placed my hand over my mouth, holding in the urge to scream and snap at him. He just had to do one thing and he couldn’t do that. All he had to do was kill the monster. The warriors were still running around the camp, trying to find their way out. After a minute of walking around, I figured the way out from the forest and back into the town. There were wet tire marks from the car that had left earlier with the injured boy. The tire marks were going to lead everyone back home.I told as many people as I could and guided them out from the camps while a few of them remained on the ground, injured. Some of the injured ones were getting carried away by the other warriors while the rest were still there. It was a monster that had tore through this forest, nothing more.“You should come with us,” one of the warriors whispered to me, his voice tight with urgency. “It’s not safe for you here either.” He continued, glancing over his shoulder at the spreading chao

I lined my lips straight. “Take him to the hospital before I rip your head off.”The man quickly grabbed the boy off my shoulders and turned around to command the warriors in training. A few of them got into the vehicle nearby and they began driving out of the forest while the rest of them remained surrounding me. Whispers began to rise between them. The ones that had gotten a sight of the boy and the wound on his neck were gossiping among themselves. I could hear it all.“Did you see that? It looked like a bite. I think she bit the boy.” One of them whispered to another.I rolled my eyes before turning around and walking back into the same path I came from. Their judgment meant nothing to me right now.I needed to find Raymond. The silence was eating me up alive. There was no sound of him or the monster we both had encountered. The night was getting darker and I was getting more uncomfortable with every step.I parted myself away from the camp and none of the warriors followed me. Th

  • CAPTURED AS THE ALPHA’S SURROGATE   Suck blood

The skies began turning dark just when the sun began disappearing completely. The golden hues were gone in just a couple of minutes, but we did get lucky to see the sun setting from the hills. My heart thudded loud and hard in my chest. I felt enthralled and wild, and so did Raymond. We took the lead over one another after every minute. We fought hard and bruised each other’s wolves slightly. We raced and tracked each other’s scents across the forest, laughing under our breath in those brief moments when we paused to catch the wind.Until…The air became stiff and the atmosphere changed. We stopped in our tracks in the middle of nowhere, both of us sensing something unusual. There were wolves around, tons of pack wolves running and some training, but this was different, heavier and wrong.“Do you smell it?” I asked Raymond while my nose wrinkled. It was strong, the stench of death and blood. If I could sense it, so could he, and if we both did, it was somewhere near us.“Yes. It’s a l

  • CAPTURED AS THE ALPHA’S SURROGATE   Let's run together

The lunch meeting stretched on for another long hour. I lost track of time completely as I listened to the low, powerful chatter of so many Alphas in one room. It was the first time I had ever stood in a space packed with that much raw authority. It felt different this time.Eventually the meeting concluded. The Alphas began to divide and part ways, filing out toward their vehicles and taking the highway out of town one after another. So many thoughts swirled inside my head. What had they really been doing here? I knew one of them was helping Raymond with the poison… but the others? Why had they come?“Did you find out if any of them has the poison?” I asked, hands buried in my pockets as I stood outside in the cold, chilling air. I watched the sky slowly change colors while the last of the Alphas left the town. The gates of the house stood wide open, revealing the paved road beyond. The sun, nearly setting, cast its golden light across the road and the tall trees surrounding the prop

Raymond gawked at me with his eyes wide and his nostrils flaring. He blinked slowly, waiting for me to take the words back. The threat had blurted itself out of my mouth before I could think it through properly. The damage couldn’t be reversed now… but I still had to try and soften it.“I don’t mean it like that...” I began, but he was already closing the distance between us with dangerous intent. Every step he took forward forced me to take one back. “I just want to find her. She’s the one who did this. She must have something going on in her head, and I’m the only one who can track her down.” I scrambled for the right words, anything that might calm the fury building in him.I already had a rough idea of where Renee might be hiding. She was probably laying low in someone’s pack, waiting to see exactly how the poison would affect Raymond. She couldn’t have run too far. Not yet.“You’re not leaving this place,” he said, voice low and final. “And if you do, I’ll drag you back myself. A
