24. Past Reminder

"This time it worked. Next time, you leave this to the detectives. Don't involve yourself. This plan could seriously backfire."

Aster reminded Lia. He was not underestimating her work but sometimes, professionals could do better. And they weren't good at this.

Lia didn't get offended. He was right. What if this monetary success made her cocky and she fell down a hole taking risks? That would counter the point.

"You are right. I will be discreet."

Lia answered. Aster felt that this was as good of a promise he could get from her now.

"What did you do today?"

Aster asked her. He was arranging his materials. He and read through the documents and he was about to compare them.

Lia saw that he wasn't watching her so she became bolder.

"I went shopping."

"That's good."

Lia nodded.

"Claudia dropped by. You remember the girl who we helped in that party. She told me stuff about your family."

Aster gave her a brief glance before continuing his work.
