CHAPTER SEVEN

Serene heaved a long and heavy sigh when the pureblood was once again out of her eyes. He doesn’t seem to want to go away and leave her alone for the second time around, but had no choice when Serene’s scent turned sour, because she realized that Havoc was talking to his father. Why not when she heard her original captors' voice, right? Thus, her once blushing face turned into horror after hearing the older man’s voice on the other side of the phone, which was filled with rage as he cursed his son, Havoc, and tried to knock some sense and wake him up from his high to the filthy and low-class omega.

Her gaze then fell from the broken vase on the pureblood’s bedroom floor. She felt bad about leaving it as is, so she decided to clean up the mess, which she is solely responsible for. Serene stood up from the edge of the bed and rubbed her eyes, trying to find a trashcan or trash bin where she could put it. She walked around on the floor and finally found one, but she still needed to go and look for a dust pan and soft brooms in order to not get hurt, but she couldn’t find them on the pureblood’s floor. That is why she hurriedly went downstairs, on the ground floor. However, since it was her first time being out in the basement and wandering to the big pack house, she was lost and found herself in a busy kitchen.

"Hey! Are you the new helper?" Serene was about to answer no, but the middle-aged woman who seemed like a beta did not give her a chance to speak.

"We have been looking for you! Where have you been?" She continuously said before shoving her a medium-sized basket, a handful of money, and a piece of paper with a list of various things, mainly for the kitchen.

"The guests are coming in any time soon, so hurry up and buy all the things on the list, ok?" The beta pushes Serene out of the kitchen and towards the back door.

"B-but I don’t—"

"Stop talking and just go! You’ve been so late helping in the kitchen, so don’t complain why I am assigning you to this task." With that, Serene shut her mouth and just thought that she could do it. Besides, she knew where the market was because she’d been there before when she first entered their territory and before becoming a captive to the Perilous.

She sighed before she walked away from the main pack house, trailing the way downtown to the market without any intention of running away from Havoc but only to complete the given task. Not knowing the ramifications of not informing the Pureblood of her whereabouts and the fact that he might think otherwise. The disaster is yet to come, per se.

The omega was peacefully walking for ten minutes when suddenly she sensed something that made her stop in her tracks. She is not dumb to not notice the man, probably an alpha, who is subtly trailing behind her, which she ignored at first, but her guts are telling her something. Something dangerous, thus, she made a run for it.

But due to the fact that she is an omega and his possible stalker is an alpha, it wasn't even a surprise when the said man quickly got a hold of her and swiftly stopped her screams with his bare hands as he pulled her to the side of the road, which is a forest full of tall trees.

On the other hand, Havoc just ended the conversation that he and his father had shared. Both alphas decided to put their discussion about Serene on hold since their guests were going to arrive in just a matter of time. Thus, he needs to make sure that everything goes well so that he does not look like a bad host in the eyes of his guest. First impressions matter, and his role as the head alpha while his father is away is to make sure that everything goes well in their pack.

He had duties, but his mind was still wandering to his pretty omega. And because Serene is obviously distressed and conflicted before he leaves, he decides to make a quick visit to his floor before checking the kitchen. Confident that his left-hand slash best friend had already made arrangements for their cooks and maid to cook and serve their visitors.

However, Havoc's mood turned sour as he opened the door and was only welcomed by his omega's faint scent.

"Doll?" Havoc tried to call her but no one answered. His mind was literally in havoc after checking all the parts of his floor wherein Serene could possibly wander, such as their walk-in closets and wide bathroom.

"Mate! Where is my mate?!," his wolf started to howl, feeling restless at the thought that his mate might run away from them?

Havoc, on the other hand, cursed, eyes flashing red and feeling betrayed. His heart hurts as anger is starting to crawl on his skin and soon it will take all the rational space in his head. But he controlled himself; if she truly ran away, then hell would need to freeze twice before she could leave the Perilous' territories alive. He knew that he couldn’t really kill her as he was starting to fall in love with her even though they had only spent some time together. But he still couldn't just forgive her for her actions.

Havoc inhaled deeply before leaving his floor. He was on his way to the kitchen when Serene's scent soared a little bit. His wolf howled, hoping that Serene was just wandering in the kitchen. But when he finally entered it, no Serene was found. No emerald eyes among the crowd of workers, yet her scent lingered and was even getting a little bit stronger until he walked past a middle-aged lady and it hit him with his omega's scent. So, without further ado, he questioned the woman, who seemed to be a beta.

"You," he said, trying his best to not act rashly without thinking. The beta was confused and gulped hard before answering.

"Y-yes young master? What can I do for you?" Havoc remained stoic, trying to formulate the right words to ask her if she had seen his mate. Because, frankly, no one knew in the pack house that he had already found his mate.

He was about to question her about why she had his mate’s scent on her when one of his men entered the kitchen, announcing that their visitors were about to arrive. He sighed as it meant that he needed to stand at their front door to welcome their guests. But before he could even walk to his supposed destination, another man hurriedly went inside the kitchen.

Havoc creased his brow in response to the new information that a rogue wolf had entered their territory. He doesn’t know what to do. He wants to question the beta if she knew where his omega was, but his duties are hindering him. He closes his eyes briefly before instructing his men what to do. Putting Serene to the back of his mind, because he knows that his pack needs him as their leader right now, especially with some visitors and threat. But what could go wrong?
