CHAPTER SIX

"What do you want?" Havoc was irritated with the person he was talking to on the phone. He was in his room a minute ago when his phone rang. That being said, him showing his room, the whole fourth floor to be exact, to his precious omega comes to an abrupt end because of the anonymous caller.

"Why are you so riled up?" Havoc hissed after hearing the voice from his phone.

“What the fuck do you want from me? Make it quick, because I'm busy." He doesn't mean to be disrespectful, but he simply wants to get back to his room, or rather, his floor, as soon as possible.

Since Serene, his omega, hasn't been cleared of their suspicions, he can't afford to be irresponsible and just let her hear his private conversations. So, he went all the way down to the third floor to converse on the phone with his unidentified caller. It is preferable to avoid future mishaps than to feel regretful later. And he was doing everything he could to avoid ending the call since he was so eager to get back to his mate and offer her his small gifts. Okay, a little, but very expensive.

"I think the information I'm about to give you will make you even more upset," the unidentified man on the other end of the phone chuckled, and Havoc can image a smirk forming on his face. He knew that he had an obnoxious grin that he was very much willing to wipe away with his fist.

"Pack it up, Hades, just tell me already; what could possibly ruin my day more than you interrupting my time with my mate? I was about to present my first gift, and you ruined my tempo." Hades was his best friend, which is why he did not hesitate to reveal his plans and the fact that he had already found his mate.

"The fuck Perilous?! Cut it off if you're just teasing me," Hades growled sharply. But he knew deep down that Havoc wasn't pulling any tricks on him. They're best friends, nearly brothers, and he knew his personality better than anybody else's, and pulling pranks wasn't surely on his personality.

"If you are not lying with me, then my news will surely fuck you up. Your father had opened our borders to a few sets of alphas, betas, and omegas. His reasoning? For you to find a suitable mate. And the worst part? You couldn't do anything now because they will be knocking on the main pack house an hour from now." A moment of silence was held after Hades delivered the information to Havoc and before the pureblood spit all the curses he knew with rage.

"What the fuck?! He couldn't do that! He said he was gone for business, but the business he was talking about was me and my marriage!" he exclaims, his tone revealing his frustration, when suddenly he heard a yelp from upstairs. He knew that voice, even though it was a faint sound, he knew it was Serene's, but his forehead creased when he noticed that it was accompanied by a distressed scent rather than her sweet scent.

"O-oh no! A-alpha." He could hear her voice even though the omega was on the fourth floor due to the fact that he was a pureblood and he could even sense that she was shaking. That's why Havoc hangs up the phone without saying goodbye. He dashed upstairs to find his omega, Serene, eyes brimming with tears while trying to pick a broken vase. Because of this, his expression darkened, and the omega whimpered.

The alpha then noticed that the omega was terrified by his expression and assumed that he was upset for breaking one of his most valuable and largest vases in their room, but he was not. So, he sighed and attempted to keep his expression in check before approaching Serene.

"Oh no, doll, I'm not mad at you; you can break everything in my room, no matter how expensive it is, but please don't get hurt," he said, gaze falling down on Serene's injured hand.

"Come, let's fix this, hmm?" Havoc stated softly, attempting to exude the appropriate amount of pheromones to calm his omega without overwhelming her. He used water to clean the omega's hand before bandaging it. They don't need to apply ointments or any other first aid to heal their wounds. Because they had the ability to heal themselves as werewolves.

He kissed Serene's knuckles before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small rectangular red velvet box. "I think this necklace suits you," he said. The necklace was made of white gold with a leaf emerald pendant. He chose it because the pendant's color reminds him of his omega’s beautiful eyes and because, for him, Serene is like a fallen leaf who accidentally fell on him, a storm, a chaos, yet he promised to himself that he would do anything just so he could protect her from getting hurt.

"Why are you doing this to me, alpha?" Instead of expressing her gratitude and accepting the necklace, Serene bravely asked. She feels grateful, but she is unable to express her gratitude since she is perplexed by the pureblood's actions towards her.

"What do you mean, alpha, with all the things you're doing to me?" She kept her gaze fixed on the pureblood, as if she could read something from the ravenette's hollow eyes.

"You hit me at first, but then you get friendly with me." Silence.

"Then you kissed me too." The omega blushed before she lowered her gaze before asking again. "What is all of this alpha?" Havoc was surprised to hear those remarks from her sweet plum lips but he knew that the omega's words had no fire or venom in them. She was just really curios, confused and maybe overwhelmed, which made him think that maybe she was not as innocently dumb as he thought. Despite the fact that she is a simple-minded and innocent girl who grew up in the highlands, she is not easily manipulated or coaxed.

"I'm doing this because I'm your mate. You're my omega, and I'm your alpha. Got it?" Serene closed her eyes for a while, as if pondering the following question she should ask.

"So, if you didn't find out that I am your mate," she paused for a second and hesitated before finishing her inquiry, "you would still h-hit me," she stammered despite her best efforts.

"I'm very sorry about that, baby doll," the pureblood replied, his expression softening even more. He was baffled as to why his nice, innocent omega was interrogating him, but it was true. Maybe if she hadn't been his one true mate then yes—she'd still be in the basement, bruised and starved to death.

Serene bit her lower lip and averted her gaze from the alpha and his gift. She knows it's a courting gift, and she understands why his wolf omega desires it so much, but she can't seem to accept it and say thank you while smiling. She had no idea why she was asking these questions either, but something inside her was screaming that the alpha was only doing it because they were fated to be together. She remembered her step sisters saying: no one would like a dumb and burden omega like her.

Havoc, on the other hand, was ready to explain more when his phone rang again, interrupting him and his omega for the second time. He was about to yell at whoever was on the other end of the line when he realized it was his father. He answered the phone, but instead of leaving his room, he stayed in front of Serene.

“Hello Fathe—”

“Son! Hades told me that you are unhappy with my decision, but on the bright side, it is just me trying to find you a bride you can rely on for the rest of your life—" but he interrupted him before he could finish his sentence. Payback.

"Father, I have found my bride. Serene is my one true mate; she is my omega and the only one I will marry. So, if you let me mate with her, I'll give you a lot of pups," the pureblood declared, his father cursing on the other line, as he chuckled.
