Chapter 2 ( strange occurance)

(Aurora cont'd)

"So you are saying your boyfriend and his gym bro friend are hooking up?" Zoey asked with her jaw dropped while I sat on the floor, in the middle of my tiny living room with a box of tissues, soaking up my tears with them. My messy blonde hair, all over the place.

"Stop crying, Rora, it's not your fault that he is gay," Selene tried to console me but for some reason it made my tears worse.

"What can I do when I am so heartbroken?" I asked offended as they both nodded. By their extravagant dresses, it was obvious they were dressing to either go out or they already went out.

"This was supposed to be a happy day, your one year anniversary. This is why I am single. Men are full of shit, to think I thought Darian was an exception," Selene hissed as she got me a glass of water to quench my thirst.

"I know this isn't the time but I knew something was off about him," Zoey said as I just sat down there with no more tears to shed.

"I really thought I found the one," I said truthfully.

"Come on, you are still very young and have a lot of options outside that moron," Selene chipped in, pulling me to stand up from the floor.

That's what she thinks, but that's not true, the dating pool in the city is very tight. The majority of the city is extremely wealthy and they all date amongst themselves which is mostly done by their family setting them up amongst themselves and to people like me who aren't in that demographic there is no chance. Because people in my class want to go up too by trying to get into the upper class which only works when you are super pretty.

Is hard to date when everybody is thinking of what to benefit, it's nothing for Selene and Zoey who are Cousins, Selene's father is a reputable businessman in town known both in the country and across the country. The same goes for Zoey.

They both have been my friends since I moved to the city for college and even after college we have remained closer. It's crazy when I think about it. They were both the most popular girls in the whole of school. Because of their wealthy background and of course they were so pretty.

I had to write Assignments for students to make extra cash since I was studying with a scholarship. When they approached me. I initially thought I was in trouble but they just wanted their assignment done.

And that was the start of our friendship, as we became closer I constantly got called names by other students who said I was just the maid of the trio. Names like "The Ugly one"  "The poor maid" and "The Handbag."

"How about we head out?" Zoey's voice snapped me back to the present as I watched the mischievous smile on her face spread.

"What are you talking about?" I asked in a panic, this is exactly what I don't want, heading out to Darian's house to fight will only reduce my dating pool. People who know we are friends are already afraid of me because of them. They would always fight in my stead and they, of course, would always get away with it because they are from wealthy families.

"I mean let's go to the club," she said as I exhaled taking myself to sit back down on the floor as Selene returned from the kitchen with leftover pizza in her hand.

"What are you talking about? You know she doesn't even party, talk more about the club," Selene said, coming to join me on the floor.

"Here, eat something," she said as I pushed the Pizza aside.

"That's exactly why I brought it up, look at you you look like a hot mess, you need to brighten up, and what other remedy is better than dancing to loud music on blast," Zoey said enthusiastically again, dragging me up to stand on my feet as she shakes me to a dancing rhythm with a smile.

"Come on, for a change I say yes. You are always working or spending time with your now ex, try having fun," Selene chimed in already in support as she went back to the kitchen to drop the Leftover pizza.

"I really am not a fan," I said without even putting up a fight, they were really trying their best to cheer me up, and like I said it looked like they were planning on going out by their dressing in the first place.

"Trust me, it will be fun, it's the weekend. Who knows you might even find yourself a charming prince." Zoey said, winking at me with a smile.

"At the club?" I scoffed

"You will be surprised how many people find their significant other at the club," Selene said, dragging me to my tiny bedroom going through my closet as I sat on the bed seriously not interested at all.

"You guys go to the club every other day and are still very much single," I said as she picked out a gown.

"I mean you are not wrong but that's because we choose not to date though," Zoey defended.

"That's not what Selene says though," I said as she smiled, dragging me up to help me dress up.

"I want it to be like fate, I want a love that will sweep me off my feet. Like in stories. Mysterious handsome bloodsucker who only wants to change because of me," Selene explained with a weird expression. Her eyes closed as she imagined it. Both I and Zoey looked at each other concerned.

"You are living in a fantasy world, wake up," Zoey said. I couldn't help but chuckle as they both turned to look at me.

"Mysterious bloodsucker? What is he? Vampire or Werewolf?" I asked amused as I chuckled more.

"Glad to see you are smiling already, wear your clothes," she frowned.

"I told you to stop reading fantasy romance, see where it has gotten you," Zoey mocked.

"How can I help it when they set my standards so high? Am telling you a fantasy boyfriend like a werewolf boyfriend would never cheat on you," she said, helping me zip up my clothes.

"When next is our salon appointment, you need to do something about your hair," Selene said as she struggled to style my curly blonde hair which was all over the place.

….

Just like I imagined, the music in the club was tuned up so loud that you could barely hear anybody talk, and to my surprise, there were many familiar faces. I even recognized some celebrities followed by the regular faces at the Hotel. Working as a hostess in one of the biggest hotels in the city has exposed me to the aristocracy so just walking in I could recognize a handful.

Selene and Zoey booked a table which they barely sat on as they danced away but made sure to stay just close where their eyes could see me.

Like they said, it was uplifting but still not enough to make me stand up on my feet and dance. While sipping from my glass I watched as everybody had a good time dancing too close to each other. Thankfully I wasn't the only one sitting down. If not I would have felt so out of place.

Nodding my head as I slowly began to get intoxicated. strange, of course, I was never one to easily get lightheaded or did I by chance take alcohol too strong for me? For some reason, I felt a stare-down from a distance. I looked ahead and like always there was nothing unusual. Just an empty table but before I could look away something caught my attention.

SOMEONE… someone caught my attention, his eyes stared right into my soul even from a distance as I immediately jumped up from my seat and pointed in his direction. Before I caught myself and stopped pointing. It was definitely him. The man I saw earlier today at the garage.

His eyes glowed from a distance, golden brown eyes which shimmered as the lightning in the room reflected on his eyes.I watched his lips curl up into a smile from that distance, he leaned on his seat, beside him was another beautiful girl. He continued to stare directly at me. Of course he definitely remembers me. I watched him feed the girl sitting beside him while still looking straight at me.

The girl happily drank whatever it was that was in the glass. "No," I let out as I felt a part of me that wanted to protect her from him. I remember just how the other girl had passed out.

As I tried to take a step forward I felt goosebumps all over my body. One that I can't explain. It felt like my head was expanding, the smile on his face faded as he watched. The feelings were familiar which is exactly how I felt earlier when I met him.

"There is no way he is normal," I let out as I felt Selene's hand on my arm followed by Zoey's concerned question.

"What is wrong?" I could read her lips asking as I realized I was breathing fast.

"You are sweating!" Zoey shouted as they led me to sit back down.

"What happened?" They continued to ask with worry in their faces as I shocked my head saying. "Am fine," I mouthed before turning to look back at the strange man only to realize he was no more.

My night has been disrupted not because I was heartbroken, instead it was because of the evil glint in his eyes. The mystery man. something about him was devious.

"where are you going?" Selene's voice was too High even the music can't mask her voice.

"I need to use the restroom," I replied, forcing a smile to mask my uneasiness. I immediately made my way not waiting for an answer.

The part leading to the restroom was narrow but thankfully not a single person was on the way. The men and women restroom just beside each other. Very familiar muffled sounds coming from the men's restroom filled the shared space as I couldn't resist a scoff before entering the women's Area.

The voice died down which signifies they were gone thankfully. I opened the door after doing my business only to be greeted with a loud thud on the floor. She fell flat on the floor with her eyes closed and standing above her was him. My tongue dried up in fear.

I felt my blood run dry as I watched the color of his eyes change. Shocked, we both stared at each other...

"what have you done?" The words escaped my mouth as I slowly felt my soul slip out of my body.....
