Derek's POV

Beep. Beep. Beep.

My eyes snapped open, and a sharp, blinding wave of pain immediately spiked right behind my forehead. Everything was a blurry, out of focus smudge for a second, the morning light coming through the window hurting my retinas until my vision finally sharpened.

I tried to sit up, but there was a weird, heavy weight resting right on my sternum. I looked down, a sudden spike of panic hitting my throat before I saw the mop of messy ginger hair tangled across my chest. I

Derek's POV "I don't know," I muttered, the sheer helplessness of the situation dropping like a stone in my gut. "But I am filing a report for missing person." I hung up, turning around to face the chief of police who had followed me out to the parking lot. I walked right up to his face, my expression completely frozen over. "File a missing person report for my stepbrother, Gabriel Pierce. Right now." The chief wiped his face, looking uncomfortable under the harsh parking lot lights. "Wouldn't you want to wait for 24 hours? That's standard procedure for......" "No," I snapped, cutting him off with ice in my tone. "I don't follow the law, and you don't too. I want your men searching every corner for my brother. Put his picture up everywhere and make sure you find him." He nodded quickly, intimidated by the sheer venom in my voice, and turned back toward the station. I threw myself into the driver's seat, slammed the door, and drove off. The ride back to my apartment wa

  • CRUEL DESIRES: MY BULLY TURNED STEP BROTHER    Enemies

Derek's POV I forced myself to take a deep, shaky breath shoving the suffocating panic down into my chest as I slammed the car into drive and tore toward the precinct. Outside, the city was practically screaming my victory. I passed massive digital billboards flashing breaking news banners, the internet already blowing up with reports on Michael Blackwood and Julian Rivera. Thanks to the concrete evidence I had dumped directly into the feds laps, their entire empire was crumbling live. Their family stocks were plummeting into the dirt, their assets getting frozen by the second. I had ruined them. Completely. But as I stared at the flashing red lights up ahead, it didn't feel like a win. It felt like nothing. I parked haphazardly, practically kicking my car door open as I stormed into the police station. The noise of the bullpen phones ringing, radios buzzing grated on my nerves, making my jaw ache from clenching it so hard. I bypassed the front desk and marched straight up to th

Derek's POV Mike picked up, and the immediate blast of bass and drunken laughter from his end made me want to rip someone's throat out. "Are you with Gabe?" I screamed into the mic, the polished, calm version of myself completely disintegrating into the night air. "Is he with you guys? Answer me!" "Jeez stop yelling, Gabriel isn't with us," Mike said, his voice slow and heavy with alcohol. "He is not here okay. We haven't seen him...Erica is here, you should talk to her instead...." "We left him with you, Derek!" Erica’s voice cut through from the background, muffled but sharp with instant, piercing panic. "What do you mean? Derek, what's going on? don't tell me our baby carrot is missing?" My throat completely closed up. The red silk on the driveway....my empty apartment. It all clicked. The realization hit me like a physical blow to the sternum, stealing the air right out of my lungs. He hadn't run away. Gabriel was gone. Someone had taken him. "Fuck!" I roared, s

  • CRUEL DESIRES: MY BULLY TURNED STEP BROTHER    Denial

Derek's POV I stood in the center of the lobby, adjusting my torn collar, my eyes instinctively scanning the room. I was looking for Gabe. He was probably hiding somewhere, shivering like a wet dog, and I was sure he was scared as hell already. Honestly, I couldn't wait to find him and taunt him. I wanted to see that pathetic, wide eyed look he gets whenever he got scared. "Sir?" A hand brushed mine, and I almost snapped, my jaw clenching as I turned. It was the waitress I had paid off. Her eyes were huge, darting toward the glass doors as she slipped two phones into my palm. One was mine. The other had a cracked screen and a stupid, familiar plastic case. Gabe’s phone. "I picked it up immediately they came, just as you instructed," she whispered, her voice trembling. "And I ended the live right on time." "You did well," I muttered. My voice sounded flat, deadened by the heavy hum of adrenaline still vibrating under my skin. She didn't answer. She just nodded fast, h

Derek's POV Previously..... "No, I won't be smuggling drugs, it's illegal," I said, keeping my voice completely flat and steady as I sat back in the heavy leather chair Michael stopped mid laugh, his eyes narrowing as he stared at me from across the room. "What? You have been handling the distribution lines all along, Derek. Don't start playing holy now." I stood up immediately, fixing my cuffs, my face completely expressionless despite the fever still burning a dull heat in the back of my neck. "Excuse me. Michael, are you trying to frame me or something? The Miller's don't participate in illicit businesses. We lend out loans and we own legal holding companies and you know it." Julian cuts in from the corner of the room, pouring himself a drink, his rings clicking against the crystal glass. "Derek, you need to put our feud aside and stop acting like you got amnesia. It’s getting creepy." Michael smirks, taking a slow, arrogant stride toward me, looking me up and down li

  • CRUEL DESIRES: MY BULLY TURNED STEP BROTHER    CRACK

Gabriel's POV The upstairs hallway was heavily carpeted and eerily quiet, which made my pounding heart sound even louder in my own ears. It felt like I was walking through a graveyard, leaving the thumping bass and flashing lights of the party behind me down below. I could literally feel the sweat slicking my palms, making it hard to even grip my phone as my eyes darted across the mahogany doors checking the gold numbers. 100... 101... and then there it was. Room 102. My thumbs were shaking so bad I almost dropped the phone right then, but I forced myself to open up the app and hit the Go Live button. The little viewer count at the top immediately started ticking up from zero. I didn't even look at the numbers, I just took a deep, shaky breath and moved into position right in front of the door. I faked a stumble, letting out a small startled gasp as I intentionally let the phone slip violently from my hand. It hit the marble floor right by the thin crack under the door, landin
