((Zara Lang))

I almost praised Eiser, thinking that perhaps this man had a good side after all. But no.

Eiser rejected me, and this time, he did it in the most insulting way possible.

After pulling me away from Edward Stood, he returned to his seat on the sofa. He did not even spare me a single glance.

I cursed silently in my mind. This man was clearly rejecting me, but then why did he help me escape from that bastard Stood’s grip?

My face felt hot and tense. I wanted nothing more than to punch Eiser’s handsome face right now. Was it true that he wasn’t interested in women at all? If that was the case, then all my efforts to disguise myself would be completely useless.

No, I couldn’t give up that easily. Don’t call me Zara if I quit now without getting any results.

If Eiser didn’t like women, then I would make him like them from now on. He had to become interested in me!

I needed plenty of evidence to arrest this handsome mafia.

Damn, I was starting to agree that he really was handsome. Then why did he have to have the face of someone who preferred men? Didn’t he know that the population ratio between women and men was around 4:1, with women being more numerous? If men liked men, then what would happen to the women on this earth who outnumbered them four times over?

Forget it. I was probably just stressed because I was still single at twenty-eight.

I slowly exhaled, calming my expression. I smiled and turned back toward Reins Eiser.

My eyes immediately met Eiser’s dark ones. He stared at me with a blank expression, while I responded with a wide smile.

To hell with looking cheap.

“So, is it true that you don’t like women?” I said softly, deliberately provoking Eiser.

I had to cross the line. Forget the rules. This man had to become obsessed with me.

So, gathering all my courage, I deliberately sat on his lap. My hand moved freely, touching his handsome face.

“Such a waste of this handsome face,” I whispered in a sweet voice.

I didn’t know if it was only my imagination, but Eiser’s thigh beneath me seemed to tense.

Was he aroused? I blinked twice. His breathing changed. It became faster, rougher, and the warmth of his breath brushed against my bare neck.

Oh God, I could feel my heartbeat speeding up. This man breathed in such a dangerously attractive way.

Calm down!

I cursed myself silently. I was almost tempted.

Yes, he could be affected by me, but I couldn’t let myself be. One more step, Zara. Make him give in.

However, the sound of laughter from inside the VIP room made Eiser snap back to reality. He immediately pushed me away roughly.

I saw the vein on his neck move as he turned his face away from me.

Then, like lightning, he looked back at me with a sharp glare.

“Get out. Now,” Eiser ordered.

Shit! He kicked me out.

((Reins Eiser))

Damn it!

I almost lost control of myself.

This had to be the alcohol’s effect. That woman had poured far too much into my glass. She was a new hostess who was bold enough to provoke me.

Luckily, I immediately forced her out of the room. The guards at the door dragged her away after I shouted and pushed her.

Shit!

I had pushed her too hard, causing her to fall onto the floor. I started worrying that she might have gotten hurt or hit the door.

Wait.

What was I doing?

Was I actually worrying about that new hostess? I had drunk too much. It was time for me to go home.

I stood up with the last bit of awareness I had left. Shit! How many bottles had I already finished?

Every step I took felt like the ground was swaying beneath my feet.

“Sir, where are you going?”

A hostess clung to my arm. With a seductive tone, she spoke to me. She was no different from the new hostess earlier.

“Don’t touch me! You whore!” I cursed harshly.

I pushed her away roughly.

“Eiser, where are you going? The party isn’t over yet, my friend.”

Edward Stood stopped me with a shameless appearance. His clothes were already completely disheveled. It seemed like he was planning to sleep with all slut in this room.

Disgusting.

“I’m done with this party,” I said while telling him to move away.

Edward Stood mumbled something unclear.

I didn’t care. I continued walking out of the VIP room. The only thing on my mind now was going home.

But then I saw her again. That shameless woman. The one who dared to sit on my lap.

She stood in the dark hallway of the bar, as if she had been waiting for me to come out. I tried to straighten my body. Because of this woman, I had drunk far too much.

“Sir, do you need help getting to your car?” she asked softly.

She touched my arm without permission again.

I turned to look at her.

“Don’t touch me! Bitch!” I cursed harshly.

She seemed stubborn, or perhaps she simply wasn’t afraid.

The only other possibility was that she didn’t know who I was. I scoffed. Seriously? She didn’t know me? Instead of leaving, the woman reached for my hand and held it tightly.

“I’ll escort you,” she insisted.

Damn.

I couldn’t refuse.

She led me toward the parking area, and several of my guards immediately approached us.

“I’ll go with him.”

The woman’s voice sounded faint in my ears. She wanted to come with me?

No.

No.

No.

She couldn’t.

((Zara Lang))The abandoned warehouse in Kirell reeked of rusted metal. Dust coated every surface, making it feel like the perfect place to dump a body.I was already crouching beside the corpse, examining every inch of a wanted fugitive. According to the forensic team's report, his name was Markov, a Russian drug kingpin."Cause of death?" I asked one of the forensic investigators. The man removed his latex gloves before answering, "We can't determine it yet."I raised an eyebrow."No stab wounds or gunshot wounds?" I asked again. He shook his head."What about blunt force trauma? Any fractures?""None. His bones are intact. There are no signs of struggle on his hands or beneath his fingernails."I paused to think."What if he was strangled?" I suggested, considering another possibility."There are no bruises on his neck. His hyoid bone appears intact as well, but we'll need to confirm that during the autopsy."After hearing the forensic report, I shifted my gaze to Markov's face. Hi

((Reins Eiser))I had no idea why I asked that question.Something about her still didn't sit right with me. I couldn't shake the feeling that she didn't belong in this bar. Yet after checking her profile, everything matched perfectly. Her photo, her personal information, even her home address.I'd already ordered Reynald to investigate her. He found nothing suspicious.Just the truth.Arabella Baker, known as Bella. Twenty-four years old. Born in Greyford. Currently living in a shared house on the outskirts of Arven City."Why were you looking for me, Mr. Eiser?" she asked softly, her voice drawing closer.Without hesitation, she sat beside me. One of her hands slowly reached toward me."Don't touch me."My warning stopped her immediately. She obediently withdrew her hand before picking up the whiskey bottle instead. She poured another drink into my glass.So... she was trying to get me drunk again, just like yesterday. Not happening.I placed the glass back on the table without taki

  • Catch me, Mr. Eiser   Chapter #8

((Reins Eiser))One thing I hated about Lucas Stone was how effortlessly he managed to calm me down. Still, I couldn't deny that he was exceptionally good at running the company."Every order has been carried out exactly as instructed, Mr. Eiser," he said, offering me a firm handshake.I accepted it. White Wolf Holdings was the perfect company for this operation."Make sure everything is spotless," I said in a low, measured voice. "Don’t make a mistake."Lucas gave a respectful nod.The meeting ended quickly. As always, Reynald escorted me to the private exit. That was when I saw her. The woman. The hostess from the nightclub I frequented. She actually thought a pair of glasses was enough to keep me from recognizing her.Who the hell was she?She even knew about my connection to White Wolf Holdings. Now I was even more curious about who had sent her.I let her follow me, for now.Reynald opened the car door for me, but it seemed he'd noticed her presence as well."We're being followed

  • Catch me, Mr. Eiser   Chapter #7

((Zara Lang))It was Friday morning, and I was still in the same spot.I sat in the passenger seat of Danny's Jeep, my eyes fixed on the towering headquarters of White Wolf Holdings.Danny let out a long sigh.“You're about to burn a hole through that building, Z,” he said sarcastically.I blinked. Danny and I had been watching the company for three days now. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Everything operated just like any other major corporation.“Are you sure this company is connected to Reins Eiser?” I murmured.“If you're asking me, my answer is I don't know. I'm only here because this was your idea, remember?”Danny started grumbling again. All he'd told me was that every victim had some kind of connection to Double W.I was the one who jumped to the conclusion that they had to be involved, just like Eiser.“Zara, I know I'm your subordinate, but acting on nothing but intuition isn't exactly how we do things.”I knew that. The truth was, I just couldn't let go of my frustrat

  • Catch me, Mr. Eiser   Chapter #6

((Zara Lang))What else am I supposed to do?That question had been circling in my head for the past thirty minutes. It was infuriating. I was still angry.Failure wasn't anything new to me when it came to missions. But for some reason, this failure stung far more than the others. Eiser had gotten under my skin like no one else.I jabbed the elevator button harder than necessary, as if taking out my frustration on it. My blood was still boiling. Just thirty minutes ago, a devastatingly handsome man looked like he wanted me more than anything. Then that same man threw me away.God.I growled inwardly.I had been so close to getting Eiser to let his guard down. Just a little longer, and I could have started digging for information about where he kept the evidence of all his crimes.I was also convinced he was behind the string of serial killings that had dominated the news lately. Every victim had one thing in common—they were all connected to Eiser. There was the city's biggest drug kin

  • Catch me, Mr. Eiser   Chapter #5

(Zara Lang)There was a long silence between Eiser and me.I froze when he suddenly asked in his hoarse voice, “Tell me who sent you!”I saw his jaw tighten, and for a moment, I thought Eiser was going to do something. My heart pounded violently. I immediately became alert.Eiser straightened his body, walked to the side of the room, grabbed his clothes, and put them on.I was still stunned. What was this?Nothing happened?Or was he just letting me breathe for a moment before finally destroying me?I let out a heavy sigh.I should not have let him go to the bathroom earlier. I should have acted quickly without giving him time to regain his senses.I guessed he had soaked himself with cold water in the bathroom to wash away the effects of the alcohol. I regretted how foolish I had been about alcohol.I knew for certain that Eiser was now trying to regain control of himself so he would not make a mistake. I admitted it—he had won this round. He had even accurately judged me and figured
