Chapter 3

Miranda returned with a teary face to the coffee shop, even her customers made noticed of her emotion , they'd asked her if she was fine, and she had lied to them that she was perfectly fine.

After sales, she went back home to the little room where they stayed, and went to the little box where they had their savings kept. She emptied the box as she counted the money and then add the little sales she had made that day.

She bundled the money up and put it inside a bag, then squished it inside her inner pocket, she'd should have put it inside her bag, but she thought against it, against robbery attack. Since it was evening, she'd better be safe.

With a sigh, she locked the door as she headed outside the house to the hospital.

Heart beats later. She got there in no time and then search around for the nurse that had given her the bill.

In a few seconds her eyes caught a glimpse of her, so she hurried to her counter.

"Hello, I.. I A-Am that girl from earlier today" she stuttered.

The nurse gave her a relaxing look, "I know, I can remember you" she smiled.

Miranda faked a smile, "About the money for the surgery... I...''

"Did you come with it already?" The Nurse cuts her off, before she could complete her statement.

"Yes, I did, not full, but half of the money" Miranda replied, keeping her voice low.

   "How much is that?''

Miranda removed the money from her inner pocket where she had kept it and stretched it to her, "Eight thousand dollars" she replied, hoping it would do for the main time.

The nurse collected the money from her and made a fast count, "This isn't up to the advance payment required, hope you know, it would serve as her upkeep while she's here" the Nurse replied her.

Miranda hearts fell heavily, she'd had thought that the little money would had them proceeding with the surgery and then she can get to pay back later.

"I..I don't have any more money left" Miranda stuttered helplessly.

"Then you can ask your relatives, or are you the only relation she have left?"

Miranda had wanted to shook her head and agree to what the nurse says, but then she recalled her uncle, her father's brother who lives hours away from their house. He hadn't been much of a uncle to her, since he haven't been picking her calls or visiting. Since it's a life or death situation, she decided to reach out to him, mostly when it have his mother involve.

"I would get back to you, thanks for your time" Miranda appreciated, she searched her bag for her phone as she walked outside.

After she brought her phone, she placed a call through to her uncle and listened as it rang, she knew her uncle, he'd would never pick up.

After the first ring, she'd called a second time and then resigned from calling after the second ring, he would never pick up. She concluded as she sigh.

She had to go to his house, that's just a simplest way of reaching out to him.

Since it was an hour journey and she had no money left with her, it simply means that she was going to be trekking down to his house.

A tear she hadn't seen coming dropped from her eyes, she honestly wished that he'd be able to pay part of the advance, so they can commence the surgery.

Miranda pressed on the power button of her phone to look at the time, she had left home few minutes past five, and now, it was minutes to six.

She had her time calculated, she'd would get to her uncle's place either seven o clock or past seven, depending on how fast she would be.

She rolled her hair into a bun and then began walking faster, to make walking easier for her, she brought out her earpiece and plugged it to her phone as she listened to courage by Celine Dion, that was song she needed for her broken soul, she played and replayed the song over and over again as she walked.

The road was very quiet, but she cared less as she had her song to keep her going.

A commanding sound she heard, made her turned around, she hadn't realized that she had walked this far.

As she surveyed her environment on search of the owner of the voice she had heard, she noticed that there was no single soul on the road except her, she'd was sure that she had heard someone's voice, was she hallucinating or what.

With a shrug of her shoulder, she conti nued walking, she hadn't taken two step when she screamed..
