GWEN

I felt myself being moved, though I could not tell who was carrying me. My mind was foggy, and my body had no strength to resist. I wanted to open my eyes, but they only moved halfway before they closed again. I heard Conan’s voice close to me.

“It is fine, Gwen. Sleep. I will handle everything. You need to rest.”

I wanted to answer him, but my lips barely moved. The tiredness was stronger than me, and I let myself sink back into the dark where nothing hurt.

When I opened my eyes again, I was in my room. The familiar walls surrounded me, and for a moment, I wondered how I had come here. Then I felt fingers moving gently through my hair. I turned my head slowly, and when I saw who it was, my lips trembled.

“Raya,” I whispered, my voice broken and rough.

“I am here,” Raya answered at once. Her voice was calm, but I could hear the pain hiding under it. “I am here, Gwen. You are safe.”

I blinked, and tears rolled without control. My chest tightened, and I shook my head weakly. “I los

ALPHA CONANWhen Gwen turned her back on me at that moment, something inside me panicked. I knew her too well. If I had let her walk out of that room, she would have locked me out of her heart forever. I could see it in the way she was making no attempt to hear me speak and the way she was ready to walk away. That was why I had to stop her. That was why I carried her, no matter how much she screamed and hit me. It was not because I wanted to control her, but because I knew if I let her go now, there would be nothing left between us.Her words broke me but I knew that I had hurt her more. She accused me of laughing at her, of enjoying her ignorance, of playing with her trust. Each word cut deeper than the last. But I didn't meant to do that. I was going to tell her, I was just cowardly. Funny thing for me to say when I was an Alpha, someone who led one of the strongest packs in the North. I carried her to the study while she shouted that I disgusted her, that I had betrayed her. I w

GWENI woke up slowly, the heaviness of exhaustion still weighing on me. My body ached from the fight, but that was nothing compared to the emptiness that had taken root inside me. When I turned my head, I froze. Raya was sitting at the edge of my bed. She looked tired too, but her eyes never left me.“Raya,” I whispered, my throat sore from the night before. “Why are you here?”She answered gently, “Because I needed to see you. I could not sleep knowing how you walked away last night without speaking to me.”I sat up slowly, the blanket falling into my lap. “There is nothing left to say, Raya. You knew, just like the others. You all knew, and I was the only one living in the dark.”Raya’s voice sounded so sad, but I wasn't falling for it again. I trusted her and she let me down. “I did not want to keep anything from you. I thought Conan would tell you himself. I told him that you deserved the truth. But he insisted he needed more time.”“Time?” I asked bitterly. “Time for what? Time

GWENThe sun had already risen, but its light did nothing to ease the tension in the air. Blood was everywhere. Some warriors groaned as they were dragged to safety, some lay still and would never move again. Others leaned against broken walls, breathing heavily, barely alive. The ground was stained, and the smell of death was strong, but none of it mattered to me anymore. My body screamed for rest, but my mind refused to stop.Conan came toward me. His boots crushed the bloodied grass under him. I heard him call out, “Gwen—”Before he could continue, I turned and walked away. I did not want to hear his voice. Not now. Maybe not ever.He tried again, “Please, just wait, let me—”I kept moving, faster this time, and did not look back. If I looked at him, if I listened to him, I knew I would break all over again. I needed space and I needed peace. Basically, I needed anything but him.My feet carried me to the healer’s chambers. I had no plan at the moment, all I knew was that I needed

GWENThe sound of screaming filled the air. It was a mixture of rogues snarling, warriors shouting, and the cries of the wounded. I stood in the middle of it all, my heart already shattered before the first strike even landed. My chest ached so much that I thought I would collapse, but I forced myself to stay upright.I felt a hand grip mine and yank me forward, dragging me toward the pack house. At first, I could not even recognize who it was. My vision was blurred by tears and dust, but then I saw her. Anaya. She held onto me with everything she had, pulling me as fast as she could.“Come with me, Gwen. Please, we need to go,” she shouted over the noise.I yanked my hand free, stumbling back. “No. You need to go. Not me.”She turned, shaking her head stubbornly. “I will not leave you. You cannot stay here in this madness.” “Anaya, listen to me. You cannot be out here. You are pregnant. You have to protect your child. Please go into the pack house and hide until this is over.”She

GWEN“As I was saying, I'll ignore the disrespect,Gwen.” Angela spoke slowly, dragging the words as if she wanted me to hang on every single one of them, “the feelings you thought Conan had for you were never what you believed. They were planned from the very beginning. Do you not find it strange, Gwen, how immediately after your rejection you ended up in the Mystic Pack? Do you truly believe that was fate? It was never fate. It was a plan. A carefully laid plan created to bring you here without raising suspicion.”She turned her face towards Conan. “And of course, our dear Alpha Conan knew about it. He was always in the know. The problem was that he was too busy holding on to the ghost of his dead mate, Sarah, to even care about how you felt. He adored her, you know. While you? You were nothing then, and you are nothing now. You should not believe anyone here loves you. You will only be used and discarded. Over and over again.”Her words really got to me, and I couldn't even bring my

GWENThe growl that came from my throat startled everyone, including myself. It was loud and strong, sharper than I had ever heard from myself before. Conan turned quickly, his eyes widening for a moment as though he could not believe it either. But I did not care about his shock. I faced Angela directly.“Conan belongs to me,” I said, my voice was clear and straightforward, I wasn't about to let another woman, a crazy one at that, take what was mine. “He is mine.”Angela laughed loudly, “Oh, Gwen. You are even more amusing than I thought. Delusional too. Do you really believe that? Do you think you know who your Alpha truly is?”“I do not need to know what you think you know,” I snapped. “You will leave now. You have no place here.”Angela smirked and took a few slow steps forward. At once, Mystic warriors straightened into their stances, their eyes watching her movement closely. On the opposite side, the rogues got ready and prepared to strike. Growls echoed from every direction. I
