CHAPTER 2

EVA:

I stood speechless at a corner in the room, watching Mr. Owen button up his shirt and cover up his masculine physique.

I couldn't believe my ears that I had just had a one-night stand with the richest bachelor in Dominic City. How was this possible? How did I get into his hotel room?

"I don't have money to compensate you," I said at last, my voice low.

"Mmm. Well, you need to start with taking care of my spérm, as I didn't have any protection last night and I wouldn't want an unknown woman to have my child," Ethan said, his voice cold, and I nodded.

"I will do that," I replied, but he scowled.

"I don't trust you," he said, as he brought out his phone and contacted a number.

"Pete, get me a pack of contraception and ensure that it is not expired," Ethan ordered, his tone stern.

The call ended, and I was still standing in a corner in the room, after seeing the video evidence that I was the one who had rushed into his room and demanded that he sleep with me.

"Can I at least have my bath and use the bathroom?" I asked him weakly, and my body was aching, as I could still feel my core pulsating as if his rod was still there.

"Sure, but don't stay too long so that the medicine will work and flush out whatever of me that you're carrying," Ethan replied coldly, as if he didn't want to have anything to do with me.

"Okay, sir," I agreed, lowering my head, as I wasn't comfortable to meet his gaze.

I had heard about Ethan Owen, the richest bachelor in Dominic City. Top magazines had featured him among the top ten hottest men. I couldn't believe that I had a night with him.

Even Jacob, my fiancé, wasn't close to Ethan's rank in this city.

Slowly, I went into the bathroom and sank inside the cold water. My body trembling at the realization of what I had just found myself in.

I turned on the tap and allowed the cold water to wash down my sore body. After my bath, I borrowed a white towel I saw, since the bathroom was filled with a man's cologne. I didn't need any to tell me that this was Ethan's luxury suite in this luxury five-star hotel.

(Knock, knock.)

The sound of someone knocking on the bathroom startled me, and only then did I realize that I had spent so much time zoning out.

Rushing to the door, I pulled it open as I was wrapped in a towel around my chest.

My long blonde hair was wet, as I was a slim woman.

Ethan's eyes trailed over my body, from my face to my chest, before moving up to my face, as he stood taller in front of me.

"What was taking you so long to bathe? I have somewhere to be, and you're wasting my time," he said, as he made way for me to step out of the bathroom. He had already worn his light blue coat, his green eyes following me as I strolled out of the bathroom weakly.

"I'm sorry, sir. How much do you want me to pay you?" I finally asked him, not wanting to get on his wrong side or get arrested.

"Haha," Ethan laughed, his deep voice making my heart flutter as I raised my head and looked at his face. He took a step closer to meet me and asked, "Can you afford me?"

"Huh, but we already had sex last night, so since I am at fault, I should pay you off, so that nothing links us," I said, as my phone rang in my bag.

A memory flashed in my head, and I recalled getting dragged by a fat man out of the event hall last night. The club where Layla had chosen. However, I had fought to escape the man before running away into the other room and running to the bed to meet Ethan. Now I remember how Layla had paid someone to sleep with me - she had it planned out.

My fist clenched at the memory, and Ethan's words brought me back to reality.

"You don't have to worry about paying me since you're a virgin and a good girl last night," he drew next to me, and my brows furrowed.

"How about, I pay you to be my personal woman and whenever I am in need of a woman to get laid with," Ethan said, his lips curled up in a smile as he drew next to me and shifted my wet hair strands away from my face and neck.

Smacking his hand away, I warned him, "I am not a prostitute. Sorry, Mr. Owen. You should find someone else to get laid with often."

Wanting to walk away from him, he pulled me back to himself and pressed me against the wall.

"This wasn't what you did last night. You begged me to take you," Ethan said, his voice cold, and his sharp green eyes peered into my blue orbs.

"I was drunk. I will never do that. I kept myself for my husband as a wedding gift, and my best friend drugged me and made me lose my chastity to you. I will not do it. If you need me to compensate you, name your price, and I will do that," I replied, my tone broken as tears spilled down my cheeks.

The image of Jacob looking at me with disappointment flashed in my mind as I could not stop my tears.

"Fine. Since you want to pay me, I will offer you a job to work for me as my personal secretary. What do you say?" Ethan asked, and indeed, I am in need of a job as a tech developer, but I shook my head.

"I cannot be your secretary. I have other work to do," I said, refusing his offer.

"I will pay you 1 million per month," Ethan said, his tone firm, and my jaw dropped.

"No... I..." I wanted to refute, but 1 million per month was too much for a secretary.

EVA'S POV:When I rang the doorbell, my mother came over and pulled the door to unlock it for me from within."Eva, you are back," Mom said, her lips curled up in a smile as she stepped back for me to enter the living room."Yes, Mom. I am back. Good evening," I greeted her, as the smell of fried plantains and fish stew wafted through my nostrils while I walked into the room."Mom, didn't you go to work today?" I asked her, turning to face her as my tummy growled loudly in hunger. My mother was a great chef, and so she prioritized the cooking herself.Smiling, Mom shut the door and turned to face me. She wore a short blue dress that clung to her skin like a second skin. "I did," her voice came out like a gentle caress in my ear. "But I came back home early. Your Dad is back too. We wanted to discuss something with you."My mind raced, wondering if it was about the money from Ethan's Dad.After my mother finished speaking, the sound of my Dad's footsteps striding into the living room a

EVA'S POV:Lily and I stepped out of the elevator with the rest of the staff, and she walked up beside me and said, "I understand, Eva. I just want us to be friends.""I know. Fine. Since you want us to be friends, let's go," I replied, knowing it was not bad to accept a friendly gesture. After all, Lily had been kind to me.Lily giggled and said, "Of course."However, my phone rang, and it was an incoming call from Layla. I declined her call, as I could not believe that she would have the audacity to call me after setting me up."Eva, is anything the matter?" Lily asked, noticing the change in my demeanor when she saw me stop in my tracks."Yes, I'm fine. It's just an old friend of mine who betrayed me, and I'm not ready to talk to her at the moment," I replied, my tone cold, as I swiftly blocked Layla's contact.I had forgotten to block her, being carried away by my new job and sealing a secret deal with the Johnson Group."Oh, you mean the one who set you up at the Owen Hotel? I h

EVA:When I settled into my office chair, I brought out my laptop and began working on the project that I had in mind to present to the Johnson’s group. My mind replayed my encounter with Ethan in his car. His closeness. His confession to having my nude on his phone. How dare he keep such intimate videos of me. Though I had a vague memory, the thought that he had such videos of me made me uncomfortable.“Do not think too much about it, Eva. Maybe Ethan is right. He is a billionaire and he wouldn’t want anyone to blackmail him for his mistakes with me. After all, he has a fiancée,” I mumbled under my breath. My mood improved as I began creating a new app for the Johnson’s group. Just then, the sound of someone knocking on my transparent door startled me.When I raised my head to see who it was, I was surprised to see a tall man, wearing a blue shirt and black trousers, with a pair of polished black shoes, stride into my office.“Hi, you must be Ethan’s new secretary, right?” he asked,

ETHAN:The car ride was silent as Pete drove ahead to my house inside White Estate. My head throbbed with thoughts of Eva, and I needed to take a break from the office to think clearly. Did I make a mistake asking Eva to work for me? Should I not have employed her? When Pete arrived at my mansion, he waited for security to unlock the gate before driving into my residence and parking. “Sir, about the partners from the Johnson group—should I deliver the document to you here or keep it at the company?” Pete asked respectfully as I unfastened my seatbelt to step out of the car. “Take it to the company and keep it there. I will handle everything tomorrow,” I replied calmly. “Alright, sir. Will you be needing anything?” Pete inquired as I unlocked the door to get out. “No. You can return to the company. I will be fine.” I strode ahead toward my mansion, and my phone rang. When I pulled it out of my trousers pocket, I saw it was Freya calling. My brows furrowed, but I answe

(Eva's POV) "What? Eva, three months is too much. Please, let's restart our relationship and get married next month," Jacob begged, but I refused. "No. I do not want next month. The matter is still fresh, so I need it to fade away and calm down. Three months is better. If you cannot wait until then, you can move on. I am not stopping you. I believe three months is enough for a wound to heal," I replied firmly, and Jacob sighed. "Alright. I will be patient," he said. "Okay, take care," I replied and wanted to end the call, but Jacob's deep voice reverberated through the speaker, "Eva, I wanted to ask you if you have ever tried to ask Ethan for the CCTV video of that night—at least to know who the man was that you slept with." "No. I cannot ask my boss," I swiftly declined. My heart slammed hard against my chest as it felt like the walls were pressing in on me. "Why? Ethan is the owner of Owen's Hotel, so he will have access to it. Unless you want me to believe that Ethan is the ma

(Eva's POV)"Um, sir. I want to ask about my nude video that you have on your phone," I asked him, and he laughed aloud firmly. His face relaxed a bit as he smirked."Why are you asking me about it? I thought you do not have any memory of the night? Are you now aware of what you did to me?" Ethan inquired, drawing next to me in the back seat of the car, and my heart raced with a wave of anxiety."I do not remember. Sir, I want you to delete the video of me if you still have it stored. It is against the law to keep my nude with you," I said coldly, and he smiled handsomely."Eva, I had no idea that you are already an attorney to be fully knowledgeable of the law. Since you do not remember taking advantage of me, it is best that you do not bring up this conversation. I am not in the mood to talk about it," Ethan brushed off the topic as if it was not something serious. But I demanded an answer."Mr. Owen, I am not done with my request. If you claim that you do have a video of me on your
