Aubrey and I were at Cora’s store. We arrived half an hour ago, but we hadn’t started looking yet because I was catching up with Cora, and she and Aubrey were getting to know each other.

“How long have you two been together? I didn’t think Gabe was the dating type,” Cora said.

I probably should have mentioned to her what Aubrey and I were.

“We aren’t dating,” Aubrey said quickly.

“Aubrey works for my family and me,” I said.

“Bullshit! You two may not be dating, but you are fucking,” she laughs.

I should have known Cora would work that out. She has known me a long time and knows me better than most. She was the first woman ever to tell me to get to fuck when I tried to hit on her, but we became friends that same night.
