Katie's Pov

I blinked my eyes as they adjusted to the darkness in the room. I realised I was lying down on a bed as my body began to return to consciousness. I sat up slowly, taking my hands to support my head that was in throbbing pain.

“Hello?”, I called out but there was no response.

I used my fingers around the bed in search for my phone but didn't find it.

“Hello?”, I yelled this time and moments later the door opened.

I immediately shielded my eyes from the light as they came on. Blinking slowly, I took my hands away from my eyes to look around me. It was a small room with limited furniture.

As my eyes looked around, they rested on a figure that stood by the door. My eyes widened and lungs paused as I realised who it was.

“M.. Max?”, I stammered.

“Katie”, he whispered as she closed the door behind him.
