“ I'll marry you” Lauren Greene said the words in utter desperation. Getting married to a crippled man whom she had never seen until that day was not something she had ever imagined she would do but when her mother had a cardiac arrest and needed an emergency surgery, she didn't care. This was her only choice. Alexander Magnus lost his parents in a hit and run accident which left him crippled at the age of ten. He went abroad to study afterwards, returning after twenty years to take over his father's company. The only person he ever talked to was his childhood friend and saviour, Melissa McCarthy. He cherished and loved her with his whole heart but much to his dismay, she never showed up for their court wedding. There he met Lauren Greene. How will Lauren cope with the aftermath of her impulsive decision? What happens when Alexander demands for an heir as payment for her mother's surgery? If their marriage supposedly worked out, what happens when dark pasts begin to surface?

Handsome with a pointed nose, a sea blue eye ball and a dark hair which was styled backward, his looks were enough to make any woman melt before him but his cold looks and condition would make one have a second thought about him.
He had everything a woman would want but he was on a wheelchair. A condition he wasn't born with but the condition life threw him in. He met with an unfortunate fate which took the life of his parents and made him paralyzed on a wheelchair when he was just ten.
From a lively and carefree boy, he became cold and insecure cause he felt like a liability to others. But when he discovered who was behind the death of his parents, he became ruthless and that gave him the strength to take what belongs to him from the hands of his uncle.
"What do you want?" He asked without sparing the man before him a glance.
"I'm sorry for barging in the way I just did, but I need to tell you this urgently." Dan said.
"I'm all ears." He said with his eyes still fixed on his laptop.
"It's about the girl you asked me to look into, I have found her and you wouldn't believe who she turned out to be." He said in ecstasy.
"Who is she and what does she do?" He asked looking away from what seemed like an important work to him few minutes ago.
"Her name is Melissa McCarthy, does that name ring a bell?" He asked in his usual cheerful voice.
"Does this all look like a joke to you and since when did we get that close?" Alex snapped.
"I'm sorry sir."He quickly apologized.
"Mr McCarthy is a famous billionaire as well, he has fashion houses and his boutiques are in every corner of our country here, he sells trendy clothes and he's successful all on his own. I'm sure you have met him during those business parties..."
"Did you make your investigation on the father or the daughter?" He asked curtly.
"No sir."
"Miss Melissa McCarthy is his daughter and she is the girl you have been searching for."He said with confidence.
"How sure are you?"
"I'm very sure sir,we searched everywhere based on your description and to confirm that she is the same girl you have been searching for, she was at the same spot that fateful day, so I'm confident she is the one."
If Melissa was the one who saved his life back then, he was glad that she was alive and well but there was still something confusing about this and he can understand if only she explain things personally to him.
But first he had to fulfill the promise he made to himself, he had to get married to the girl who saved him, the one he had been keeping his heart for all this while.
He was alive all thanks to her and to repay her good deeds, he had to get married to her by all cost cause no other woman would ever win his heart the way she did.
"What do I do after this sir?" Dan asked snapping him from his thoughts.
"Since her father is in the same caliber as I am, send a marriage proposal to the family and choose this weekend as our wedding day."
"Sir..." Dan said cutting in.
"Do you have a problem with my orders?" He asked glaring at him.
"No sir, I just need to be sure if I heard you right." He said.
"Find a vacant court room and free time, fix our wedding then and add the venue to the proposal letter, let me know when it gets to them and what they say about it." He ordered.
"Yes sir,I will do as you have ordered." He said trying to walk away.
"One more thing."Alex said driving himself towards him.
"Do it in secret, I don't want my uncle finding out about this secret of ours else you won't live to see the next Christmas." He threatened.
"I understand.. sir."He stuttered before walking away.
Finally he got the woman he had been searching for, that is the best news he had heard since his parents death.
The door opened almost immediately revealing a man in his fifties accompanied with a young man who was almost the same age as Alex.
"The scared ant has decided to crawl out of his hidden house."Jake said with a mocking smile as he made his way towards Alex.
"Why are you both here?"He asked fisting his hands in anger.
"You shouldn't do that to your own relatives, don't forget we are the only families you have left." Jake taunted obviously trying to get him angry.
"How..how dare you call yourself family?" He asked shaking in anger.
"You should be glad I still refer to you as a family despite the pitiful condition you are in. You should be glad you have two able men like I and my father but here you are feeling so full of yourself as you have always been what a pity."
"Stop that Jake, you shouldn't upset him,you know it's bad for his health. "Simpson said walking close to the two young men slowly.
"Why are you stopping him, aren't you here to do the same?" Alex asked snapping at him.
"I have grown past that Alex, you should know that yourself and moreover, I'm glad to see that you still have the same reaction you always do since you had this accident." He said leaning close to him.
"And it annoys me to see you breathing on the surface of the earth each time you show that ugly face of yours around me." He said spitefully making Simpson smile faintly.
"There's nothing you can do about my face son and I will be breathing for as long as I want to,so get used to it." He said standing straight.
"We saw your assistant running around when he is meant to be by your side, what's the occasion?"Jake asked walking to his table.
The file Dan left with him on Melissa was still there and he didn't want anyone to see that especially the two serpents in his office.
"What do you think you are doing?" He asked driving himself to the table and snapped the file out of his hand.
"What do you have in there? It looks like a top notch secret."Jake said looking interested.
"Whatever I do is none of your business."
"We are still your family young man!"
"And you are nothing but a murderer!" He snapped.
Dan’s fist was raised, his scarred face contorted with fury, poised to strike Lauren again, her cheek swollen and bloodied, her wrists chafed raw against the ropes binding her to the metal chair in the dim, dusty Tremont warehouse. Melissa’s voice cut through, sharp and commanding, her hand grabbing his arm, yanking him back. “Dan, hold on.” Her tone was low, her eyes glinting with a twisted gleam as she stepped close, her lips crashing into his in a sudden, fierce kiss, the sound of their collision echoing in the stale air. The crowbar clattered to the concrete floor, its metallic clang reverberating.Dan jerked back, his voice a confused grunt, his eyes narrowing to slits. “Melissa, what the hell are you doing?” His tone was rough, his scarred cheek twitching, his hands hovering, uncertain, as he stared at her. “This ain’t the time for games.” His gaze darted to Lauren, tied up and trembling, her tears streaking her bruised face, her glare burning despite her pain.Melissa’s voice
The warehouse door slammed shut, Dan’s heavy boots thudding on the concrete, his scarred face twisting with surprise and irritation as he spotted Melissa standing over Lauren, who was tied to a metal chair, her wrists raw from the ropes. His voice was a low growl, his eyes narrowing. “Melissa, what the hell are you doing here?” His tone was sharp, his hand gripping a crowbar, its metal glinting faintly in the dim light. “How’d you even know we were here? This wasn’t in the plan, you showing up like this.”Melissa’s voice was smooth, a dark chuckle escaping as she turned to face him, her eyes glinting with malice, her mic hidden under her jacket, still transmitting to the police outside. “Calm down, Dan, it’s all under control.” Her tone was mocking, her hands gesturing casually, her smile cold as she glanced at Lauren, whose tears streaked her bruised cheeks. “I went to Alex’s mansion, played the perfect little helper. Told him I was on their side, wanted to save Lauren and Emmy.” Sh
Alex’s SUV screeched to a halt near the Tremont warehouse, the 2029 pre-dawn sky dark, the structure’s silhouette looming, its windows black voids. Lauren’s scream tore through the silence, raw and piercing, echoing over the police radios crackling in the unmarked vans. Alex’s voice was a shout, throwing open his car door, his feet hitting the gravel. “Lauren! I’m coming!” His heart pounding loudly, his body surging toward the warehouse, desperate to save her and Emmy, trapped in Dan’s grip.Officer Mike Daniels grabbed his arm, his voice sharp, yanking him back. “Alex, stop right now!” His tone was urgent, his grip like iron, pulling Alex behind a van. “You charge in, you’re putting Lauren and Emmy in more danger.” Alex’s voice was a growl, struggling against him, his eyes wild. “That’s my wife screaming, Mike! My daughter’s in there with her!” His breath was ragged, Lauren’s unconscious collapse and Emmy’s kidnapping a crushing weight.Daniels’ voice was firm, his hand steady, the
Alex stood in the mansion’s driveway, the pre-dawn chill biting, police cars idling with radios crackling as Officer Mike Daniels coordinated his team. His voice was sharp, his eyes fixed on Melissa, her sudden arrival with Jake moments ago reigniting his fury. “Melissa, you’re not part of this. Your tip about the warehouse is enough—go home.” His tone was icy, his hand gripping the car door, Lauren and Emmy trapped in Dan’s Tremont warehouse, his fear for them a constant pulse. The clock read 3:05 a.m., every second critical.Melissa’s voice was urgent, stepping forward, her hands raised. “Alex, please, hear me out. Dan and I were close once, years ago.” Her tone was raw, her eyes pleading, Jake’s silent presence beside her tense. “We worked together, planned to tear you and Lauren apart, to ruin your marriage.” Her voice shook, her hands trembling. “Dan will still trust me, Alex. I can go to the warehouse, act like I’m on his side, distract him so your police can get in.”Alex’s vo
A detective approached, his voice crisp, holding a map. “Mr. Magnus, we’ve got the warehouse layout—two entrances, east and west. We’ll go quietly.” Alex’s voice was firm, pointing at the map. “Lauren’s probably inside, maybe hurt. Emmy too. Dan’s armed, dangerous.” His mind flashed to Dan’s smirk, the setup with Richard, and Priya’s shooting, his anger simmering.Daniels’ voice was calm, clapping Alex’s shoulder. “We’ll get them, Alex. Stay here, let us handle it.” Alex’s voice hardened, shaking his head. “I’m coming, Mike. They’re my family.” His tone was resolute, his hand on the car door, ready to join the convoy, his heart racing with fear for Lauren and Emmy.Footsteps crunched on the gravel, a voice calling out, breathless. “Alex, wait!” He turned, his voice a snap, eyes narrowing in the dim light. “Who’s there?” Two figures emerged—Melissa and her husband, Jake, their faces pale. Alex’s voice was sharp, anger flaring. “Melissa? Jake? Get out of here, now!” His hand clenche
Alex stood in the hospital parking lot, his voice low, phone pressed to his ear, speaking to his friend, Officer Mike Daniels, the night air cool around him. “Mike, Lauren got a text from Dan. He’s got Emmy at a Tremont warehouse, wants her to come alone by midnight, no police.” His tone was urgent, his heart racing from Lauren’s resolve to face Dan alone, despite his warnings in the police station. “She’s going, Mike, but I need you and your team to follow, quietly. Keep my wife and daughter safe.”Daniels’ voice was steady, crisp through the phone. “Alex, we’ll set up a sting, no lights, no sirens. Where’s Lauren now?” Alex’s voice tightened, glancing back at the hospital where Lauren was with Priya. “She’s inside, talking to Priya. She told me not to tell anyone, but I can’t let her walk into this.” His breath was quick, Dan’s threat—Emmy’s life on the line—heavy. “She’s leaving soon, Mike. Be ready.”Daniels’ voice was firm, professional. “We’ll have units hidden near Tremont, tra
