Chapter 109: The Rescue
ANNABEL
I woke up with a splitting headache and the taste of blood in my mouth. The room was darker now, and I could hear voices coming from outside. My face throbbed where Vincent had hit me, and I could feel dried blood on my lip.
How long had I been unconscious?
I tried to sit up, but the world spun around me. Easy, Annabel. Think. You need to think.
The door opened, and Catherine walked in with another tray of food. She looked nervous, her hands shaking as she set it down.
"You need to eat something. You've been out for hours."
Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she kept glancing at the door like she was afraid someone would hear her.
"Where is he?"
I asked, my voice hoarse.
"Mr. Vincent? He's... he's making calls. Planning something."

Chapter 108: The Hunt BeginsDAMONThe cold air hit my face as we stepped out of the hospital, and I could feel the rage pumping through my veins like liquid fire. Every step I took sent sharp pains through my ribs, but I didn't give a damn. Pain was nothing compared to what I was feeling inside—the thought of Vincent's hands on my Cupcake, on our baby."Boss, you sure you're ready for this? You just woke up and...""Carlo, I swear to God, if you ask me one more time if I'm ready, I'll put a bullet in your leg myself."I snapped, getting into the passenger seat of the black SUV. My hands were shaking, not from weakness, but from pure fury.Carlo nodded and started the engine. The tracker on his phone showed Vincent's location hadn't moved in the past hour—a mansion on the outskirts of the city. Good. The bastard was getting comfortable, prob
Chapter 107: Five Long DaysDAMONThe room smelt of antiseptics and I could hear the beepings coming from different machines and then voices which were speaking in hushed tones“Do you think he can survive this, He's been in coma for five days now and I don't know. I don't want him dead, now even now…”A familiar voice whispered lowly, not knowing I've been awake for a while now.“What about his men, how are they?”The same familiar voice said again, her voice sounded concerned but Damon knew something was off, I couldn't process what it was but I knew something went wrong.“They are responding very well, the bullet was easier to remove and they are recovering just fine.”A female voice answred and I guessed it was teh doctor.“Alright, I shall remain here and wait fro him to wake up. I don't care how long it takes but I will.”Then I heard the door opened and someone stepped out but I could still perceive that someone was in the room and slowly, I opened my eyes, it was blurry at fir
Chapter 106: The Devil's ArrivalANNABELOne of the guards walked towards me, and in one swift motion, he pushed me off the chair."Hey, take it easy with her. She's just fragile—you don't want to break her bones. Plus, I don't think Vincent will like her broken too."One of the guys said, the one with the tobacco. His voice carried a warning that made my skin crawl.I didn't dare struggle or attempt anything radical after hearing what Janet said about the drugs almost killing my baby. Those words made me shiver, and I wouldn't dare do anything that would make me harm my child. The fear of losing what I had left of Damon—our baby—was stronger than any pain they could inflict on me.A maid walked in with a tray of food in her hands. I could see that on her other hand, and her clothing tag read Catherine. But I looked at her skeptically—
Chapter 105: Five Days GoneANNABELWater came splashing on my face, and I jerked up quickly with the high sudden impact of water on my body.My body revolted quickly as my eyes opened, and my breathing was hard, rough, and deep. My lungs burned as I gasped for air, the shock of consciousness hitting me like a freight train.I opened my mouth, trying to take in a fresh breath, but rather it stank of cigarettes and tobacco powder. The acrid smell made my stomach lurch, and I had to fight the urge to vomit."Again we meet, isn't that amazing."A voice said, cracking through the thin silence, and the voice made my insides twisted. My blood ran cold, and every nerve in my body screamed danger. My hair was dripping with water, which made my skin cold. The droplets traced icy paths down my face, mixing with the fear that was already makin
Chapter 104: Escaping MeANNABELMy head was ringing like there was a silent telephone taped around my head, and my eyes were heavy as hell, like a heavy drum was placed on them.I could hear the sound of gunshots in the air and the smell of gunpowder filling the atmosphere."Fuck!"I whispered inaudibly as I slowly opened my eyes, trying to understand where I was and what was happening. When I opened my eyes, I realized I was in an unhealthy position. My body was bent upside down, and beside me was Damon. His eyes were wildly awake now, staring at me with concern, even though I could see the heaviness in them."Are you alright…"He whispered; he wasn't looking good himself. That's when I noticed the cruel stench of blood, and when I looked down, I discovered it was his. His bullet injury had started bleeding again, and he was bleeding profusely."Damn, Damon, you are bleeding; we need to leave, we need to get out of here."I hurriedly said, trying to get out. It was easier for me; I
