Dahlia POV.
“You will have your own room and bathroom. You are the only female alpha we have that is entering our training program. We have omegas who will cook and clean. The men you will be training with are the next alpha’s inline to take over their packs, so be warned.” He says as we walk up the driveway to the massive packhouse in front of us.
“I thought this was a camp?” I ask, looking up at the imposing building.
“The packhouse is the training centre, the camp is behind. You, however, as well as the rest of the future alphas, will be staying here. They share barracks. You won’t be.” He says, and I stop walking.
“So I’m being treated differently because I’m a female?” this is stupid, just one more example of the difference between she-wolf and male.
“You are the first female alpha to come here since we started this ten years ago. Those men in there will see you as another hole to fuck and play with. The reason we started this was because of your mother.”
I look at him, confused. My mom? Why?
“Before her, there was never a female alpha. She had proven to us and the rest of the wolfen world that a woman was more than a breeder. That being an alpha doesn’t always mean what you have between your legs. We have acknowledged that not all alpha born males are suited for the title. This is another reason why we started this. To make sure that the next generation of alphas are capable and not thinking with their ambition, or cocks, for that matter.”
“But why wasn’t I brought here when I turned 18?” I ask when he smiles softly at me, when he stepped forward and I didn’t flinch as he watches me.
“Because unlike male alphas, your line doesn’t usually get their wolves until the age of 21. However, you got yours at 16. You shadowed your parents at 18 and were due to take over yesterday. But things played out differently. So it was decided that you Dahlia would be here at 21.” I blink out of my own confusion.
“You said Selene sent you to me? So why now?” I ask when he sighs, looking up at the sky. I know I’m irritating him, but I need to know.
“Because it is time for you to become what you were born to be. You need to become stronger, Dahlia, not finding solace or friendship at the bottom of a bottle. This life is hard enough as it is, even harder when you are doing it on your own.” He grasped my shoulder, and I felt the tears coming, but I looked away.
“The men in there will become your family, your friends, and future allies. If at any time you feel they are being degrading towards you or hurt you physically when not in training, you come to me because I will not have an alpha throwing their weight around, that is not what we do here. Come, I will show you around and to your room.” He says, but I don’t follow behind him. He stops and turns to look at me.
“With all due respect, alpha. I think it would be best if I stayed in the same barracks as them. I don’t want them to think I am being treated differently because I lack what is between my legs.” I say to him and he looks at his Beta before looking at me.
“Very well, you will sleep in the barracks, but you will shower in privacy. Oh, one more thing. Have you found your mate? Because the last thing I want is for you to go into heat around other alphas. That would be messy and something we would like to avoid.” He asks, and I gulp. I didn’t think of that possibility.
“I have rejected him, so no.” he looks taken aback when he nods stiffly and turns to walk inside and I follow behind him with my luggage.
I follow behind and the laughter and jeers of the other males here echo around the hall. I gulp, but keep my head up.
“We can do this Dah, don’t let them intimidate you. No more running, no more being weak and please, for the love of the goddess, keep your mouth in check.” Nothing like a pep talk from your wolf to make you realise how much of a shit situation we are both in.
“I will try.” I say as we stop at the open double doors and my eyes widen at what I’m seeing. Oh, fuck my life!
The men are all huge, similar size to dad. Some of rough housing, some sitting around either chatting or reading.
“Alphas!” I jump slightly as I watch them all run to line up by their beds. Looking ahead.
“We have a new recruit. Let me introduce you to Alpha Dahlia Blackwood, the future alpha of Venom Fang, and the first female Alpha of Alpha’s.” Well, shit!
They all snap their gazes at me and I feel the need to run and hide in a closet. The disgust in some of their eyes makes it clear I am not meant to be here. Some look at me with curiosity and concern, well great!
“She is to be treated with respect and dignity. Anyone found mistreating her will be out of here and you will kiss your alpha title goodbye. Am I clear!” he shouts and they respond with a yes alpha. This is like a damn army camp.
“You may choose any bed that is not currently occupied, any problems you come to me directly. Go make friends Dahlia, because goddess knows you will need them.” He says, giving one last look into the room before he walks away.
I take a breath and walk with my head high as I roll my luggage behind me. I can feel their eyes watching every step I take, but I won’t let them get to me. I won’t let them break me. Fuck them!
I find an empty bed the furthest away from them and begin to go through my things.
“Hi.” I jump out of my skin. I didn’t hear him move or smell him.
“Oh, hi.” I don’t even sound sure of my response when he raises an eyebrow before he thrusts his hand out towards me.
“I won’t bite,” he chuckles, and it rumbles through him. I stand up straight and look at him. He is handsome, but then again, most males are. He’s tall, muscular, tanned with blue eyes and chiselled features.
“Hi, the name is Dahlia. Pleased to meet you.” I take his hand and shake it. When he smiles Goddess above, he is more beautiful when he smiles.
“Nice, I’m Brent Daniels, nice to meet you Dahlia.” He says as the others flock around us. They all introduce themselves. When I look at one in particular who is sneering at me.
“Alphas should be male, not a split ass like you,” he spits, as he looks me up and down before he licks his bottom lip and I snarl at him when his eyes light up.
“Oh look boys, she thinks she is fierce, like a little kitten. Only good think about you is how you take cock. Females are not meant to be alphas.” Well, that does it.
“Whatever you say, bud.” I mock salute him and turn back to unpack.
“Show me respect, you useless cunt.” He spits his wolf on the surface. So I allow Celeste to come out to play. His eyes widen and he takes a step back.
“Respect is earned asshole, remember who it is you are trying to insult. I have no problem using you as my personal chew toy, pup. Now be a good boy and fuck off before we have a real problem.” Celeste says, and he moves back, clenching his fists and his jaw before he says whatever and grabs a couple of his friends and sulks off.
“Ignore him. He is an entitled asshole. His name is Lucius Santo, future heir of the Crescent Moon pack. And those are his bitches.” Brent tells me I just nod, knowing I’m going to have to keep an eye open for that prick and his posse.
An alarm blurred, and I looked up. What the fuck is that?
“Come on, short stuff. Dinner time.” I nodded my head and followed the group of hungry males as we made our way towards the dining hall. The packhouse is similar to one back home only difference is the only females are omegas. Some are dressed in short dresses and high heels. Of course, the only other females are here to offer release to the males.
I enter the dining hall, and the testosterone is overbearing. I move along the line, grabbing what I can, and make my way over to a vacant part of the long table. I sit down and begin to eat. When all eyes are on me I stop mid chew and look up. Why are they all looking at me like I’ve just killed their cat? Do I have something on my face?
“What are you doing?” Brent asks in horror and I point to my plate.
“Eating? What does it look like I’m doing?” He shakes his head at me. What?
“We wait until we are told.” He says and I make a face at him.
“Why?” I ask, because we don’t do this back home. There is no waiting. You get your food, and scoff it down. No waiting on ceremony.
“Arrogant female thinks she can do what the fuck she wants.” Lucius snaps and I glare at him.
I go to speak but think better of it, so I lower my cutlery and wait to be told I can eat. Minutes tick by and my stomach growls hungrily at me. I’m about to leave when Alpha Silas enters.
“You may eat.” He says and I look around the room to find the alphas scoffing down their food. I glance back at my own plate and sigh. This is going to take some getting used to.
I ignore the conversation around me as I pick at my food. Not wanting to embarrass myself further.
“Alpha Dahlia. Is it to your liking?” I snap my head up and nod once with a smile on my face.
“Yeah, thanks.” He raises an eyebrow at me.
“Alpha, sorry.” I say with a wince as I eat again.
“You will go to my office when you have finished eating.” He says, and I look up at him.
“What? Why?” the words tumble out of my mouth before my brain kicks in. Silence ensues the table.
“Because I am the alpha here and you will do as you’re told. Am I clear?” he shouts and I nod my head.
“Yes, alpha, sorry.” I say, and he nods his head in approval before I eat again. Brent looks at me with concern and I shake my head with a sigh. Me and big mouth.
Dahlia POV.After dinner, an omega shows me the way to alpha Reynold’s office and I knock on the door and wait for him to tell me to enter. When he does, I walk in with my head low.“Please, sit down Dahlia.” He says and I take a deep breath and move towards his desk and sit down.“I know things are done differently in Venom Fang, but here you follow the rules. So I will let it slide just once. You are to show respect at all times. I know that may be difficult for you. You have come from the largest pack in the world. So I know you don’t see the need to stand on ceremony. But here I run a tight ship and I hold the reins.” He says, and I look at him. Did he just basically call me spoiled? “Just because I come from the biggest pack doesn’t mean I have been treated like a princess. I have been training my whole life, for a life and a position I didn’t want. So with all due respect, Alpha, you only know what you have read and briefly seen of me. Don’t confuse me with some self entitled l
Malachi POV.Every day for the past four years, we have all tried to find Dahlia, but it’s like she has vanished from the face of the earth.Destinee and Titus have used pack resources to find her, but always come up empty-handed. Today would have been her 25th birthday, four years to the day that she left after learning of not just mine but her parents and the pack’s betrayal towards her.Every day, I try to get her to open the pack link, but nothing, not even Fenrir or Selene, have been able to find her. “Daddy.” I am pulled out of my thoughts when my little boy Harrison enters the living room, rubbing his eyes and I stand up, moving to scoop him up.“Good morning, little man. Did you sleep well?” I ask him as I kiss his head.“Yeha. But I’m hungry daddy.” He says, nodding his head, and I chuckle at him. It has been hard the past four years since he was born.Sapphire died bringing him into the world, so I have raised him on my own. We broke up not long after Dahlia vanished. Sapph
Dahlia POV.After four years, our training is complete. Out of the twenty of us that started this journey, only fourteen made it through.“So, we heading to your pack?” Lucius says as he puts his arm around my shoulders and I roll my eyes at him.One night, while I was showering. Six of the males tried to rape me. They knocked out the omega when I was showering and attacked. I fought them off, but six on one I couldn’t. I took down three before I was slammed headfirst into the wall.It was Lucius, Brent, Johnny, and Dex that pulled the male off me and Lucius ripped his throat out before they killed the others. Since then, we became friends.“Don’t you have your own pack to go back to? Why are you so incessant to follow me like a lost puppy?” I say to him when he whines and sticks out his bottom lip. Oh goddess no, not the puppy dog eyes.“Don’t you do it.” I warn when he does it. Goddamn it.“Please, we will behave.” My eyes widen. We?“We, what we? Who is we?” I ask when I see the ot
Dahlia POV.“Well, look who decided to come home.” She scoffs at me as I move closer. I ignore her and smile at the little blonde-haired girl, who looks extremely uncomfortable and sad.I move to my knees in front of the little girl and she gulps, looking up at the huge alpha males behind me.“Hey, what’s your name?” I ask her gently, and she looks at her mother before she looks at me.“Sarah.” She stutters out, well that won’t do. I don’t want this pup to be scared of me.“That is a lovely name for a pretty little girl, and who is this?” I turn and look at the little dark-haired boy who is looking at me with the same eyes as his father.“Harrison.” I smile at him as I stand up.“Nice to you meet you both. I’m Dahlia. Do you both know the way to the day care?” I ask and they nod, biting their little lips and I smile at them, seeing them relax slightly.“Ok, why don’t you both go and head inside while the grownups talk?” I say as Malachi nods his head before kissing his son and setting
Malachi POV.Goddess, she looks amazing. She has changed so much, but those eyes have haunted me since the day everything went to shit. The day she rejected me. Four years ago today.“She looks amazing. I can only imagine how Celeste looks.” Hyde says as we walk towards the training ground. It is taking everything in me to not turn around and run to her. Take her in my arms and beg for forgiveness.“She does, she really does Hyde. Give it time. We hurt her. She won’t forgive us so easily. Dahlia has always been stubborn.” I tell him when he whimpers before he grunts.“She will come round when she is ready.” He says, and I nod as we enter the training grounds. The wolves are in lines and ready to train. I set my bag down and strip my t-shirt off and give out instructions.I walk around the warriors that are sparring as I feel eyes on me. I turn and see Dahlia standing with the four unknown males beside her.Her critical eye watching everything, every move. One of the alphas points and
Dahlia POV.“I take it that he is the ex-mate?” Brent asks me from across the dining hall table and I nod my head at him.“Would you ever forgive him?” Dex asks and I think, would I? Should I?“He knew who I was to him, but still got another pregnant. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Sapphire. From what I remember, she was always hanging off him.” I say as I reach for the food in front of me.“Still, I agree with you for what you did, Lia. But we all know you still hold some place for him in your heart. Maybe talk to him and find out why we never told you,” Johnny says, bringing his drink to his lips.“I know why he didn’t tell me. But he could have when I turned 18. But he didn’t. He stayed away from me. Malachi is 6 years older than I am. So you know it’s pack law that you can’t claim your mate until they reach 18, especially if there is an age gap. He didn’t wait. I can’t blame him for that. What I can blame him for is not telling me when I turned 18,” I say, bringing my food to
Malachi POV.I stand there watching as Dahlia and Harrison walk hand in hand towards the ice cream counter.“She has always loved pups.” Sadia’s voice draws me to look at her, and she has an amused look on her face.“Yeah, she has. She has a heart of gold.” I say when I hear a scoff, I turn to look at the male with the blonde hair with a shit-eating grin on his face.“Yeah, she does. Shame you didn’t see that sooner.” He shrugs when the others look at me as well. They think they can intimidate me. How wrong of them to even think they can.“If you have something to say, just say it. No point in beating around the bush.” I say, looking at him when he chuckles before he places his hands flat on top of the table as he stands. He is tall, but not as tall as the others and definitely not as tall as me.“For a warrior, you are rather tall and broad. If I didn’t know any different, I would say you had alpha blood. We haven’t been introduced. I’m Alpha Lucius Santo of the Crescent moon Pack.”
Dahlia POV.Not all of the pack members have seen me. Only the ones closest to the packhouse. But then again, we have over 25,000 members in total. My parents have organised a celebration for me. To honour my return, I did tell them it wasn’t necessary, but one look from my mom had me shut up.So here I am, sitting by a huge bonfire with a soda in my hand. Looking into the raging flames of the bonfire.“See anything interesting in the flames?” I sigh as I lean back and shake my head slowly. It is strange being back home. I don’t know why I was scared to get it over with. Ok, who am I kidding? I was shitting myself. Mom can be damn scary at times, even more so than dad.“Oh nothing, just thinking.” I say as I think about what is excepted of me. I ran from the pressure of the title but now, instead of running from it. I had turned and ran towards it.“Now, that is a lie. Tell me, little one, what weighs so heavy on your mind that you are ignoring the celebration?” I look at him, Alpha T
