Daniel sat in his mini wine bar, a bottle of whiskey in hand and his phone in the other. He had been dialing Renee’s number nonstop with the hope that she would suddenly pick up even though he knew the chances were slim as he had been blocked.

“Fuck.” He hissed, gripping his phone tightly out of frustration, and his hands

The door soon opened with a bang and Daniel looked up from his drink just in time to see Chloe storm into the bar with a twisted face.

“Wow, Daniel. Wow! Things are getting worse yet you have the time to drink.” She clapped mockingly.

“This here…this is why Renee left you. You’re completely useless!” She fired.

Daniel hissed, having had enough of her tantrums. “Don’t walk into my house and start yelling like a mad woman. What do you want?” He asked nonchalantly and took another gulp from his bottle.

Chloe tapped her feet impatiently, her body shaking. “Are you aware that Renee is gone?”

He paused.

“What are you talking about? She’s staying in a hotel.

Do we think Renee acted too fast? Should she have given Daniel a second chance?”

When they arrived at the venue, it was already past 6. Renee looked out the window, glancing at the crowd of reporters and cameras filling the entrance. There was no way she was avoiding them—not a single chance. “It’s a good thing they’re here. We could consider this as a soft launch.” As if hearing her thoughts, Bryan spoke from the side, referring to the reporters awaiting the arrival of the dignitaries and business moguls who would be attending the event. They were on the lookout for any scandal or news that would break the internet and it was usually found at events like this. “I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Renee chuckled, shaking her head in disbelief. She wondered when she grew so much guts to be so brave. The old her would have chickened out at the mere thought of it. “You’ll be fine,” Bryan assured then checked his wristwatch. “We should leave now. The party will start soon.” He announced and Brielle nodded. Then, he gave a signal to the driver who then instructed t

“Now, tell me. What love potion did you give my brother to make him ask you to he his girlfriend?” Kendal asked, raising his brows in a smirk“Huh?” Renee chuckled nervously, unsure of what response to give him. She didn’t know if it would be okay to tell him that it was a fake relationship as she wasn’t sure if Bryan would want him to know. But, before she could respond, Bryan helped her out.“There was no love potion, Kendal. I asked her to be my girlfriend because we’re in love.” Renee was shocked at how easy it was for him to lie. It rolled off his lips smoothly, his expression matching his words.“Love?! You?” Kendal asked and burst into loud laughter, leaving Renee confused.“Sorry, Ma’am but, this man and the word ‘love’ do not go in the same sentence,” Kendal said to Renee.Renee’s lips twitched, unsure of what to say. She didn’t know how to respond to the brother of her supposed boyfriend telling her that his brother wasn’t capable of falling in love. She still found it hard

After the meeting with Daniel, Renee is distraught. She sits at her office, a pile of work before her but her mind is unable to perform any task. All she can think of is a way to get out of the mess she found herself in. She then decides that she needs good advice and decides to call the one person she listened to. Priya. She answers almost immediately, as though she had been waiting for the call. “Ree!” Her energetic voice put a smile on Renee’s weary face. “I was just going to call you. I wanted to check up on you! How are you doing, Ree? How are you settling with our new man!” Renee could almost see the smirk on Priya’s lips as she asked about Bryan. Renee rolled her eyes and shook her head. Priya could never surprise her with a behavior change. “I’m settling in well. Much better than I expected.” She confessed. “I’ll go into details some other time. I called for a different reason.” She said, her tone turning serious. “Mmmm.” Priya hummed. “There’s a party coming up. I hear

The smell of fresh coffee and waffles filled the kitchen as the sunlight poured in through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Renee sat across Bryan at the glossy marble island, stirring her tea absentmindedly. She hadn’t said much since she woke as her mind was still adjusting to the new environment and reality. “I got an invitation last night,” Bryan said, breaking the silence as he slicked into his waffle. “An invitation?” Renee looked up. “A party. The host is an investor at my company. Can’t really remember what he wants to celebrate but, I did get an invite.” He said, shrugging casually. “I’ll be going and I want you to come with me. It’ll be better if we attend together.” He added. Renee blinked, then shook her head slowly. “I don’t know if that’s a good idea…for me. Daniel did tell everyone that we are still married. I’d be an adulterous woman if I showed up with you.” He looked at her with lazy eyes and shrugged again. “It’ll be a good opportunity to let everyone know h

Renee followed the security team after giving Bryan a call to be sure they were sent by him. After they were done packing her things from the hotel, they left the hotel. There was a black SUV waiting for her outside. The ride there was twenty minutes long with Renee’s heart beating drums as she realized how real it was. She was really moving in with Bryan! Soon, the car slowed down and she stepped out, her designer boots clicking against the smooth pavement as the security guards began unloading her luggage and walking into the building. Her eyes lifted to the building in front of her and her brows knitted in confusion. This wasn’t what she expected at all. Instead of a flashy mansion, she had expected a man as rich as Bryan Taylor to live in, a tall glass building stood before her. It looked almost like a penthouse except that he was the only occupant. “Is everything okay, Ma’am?” One of the men asked and she nodded slowly. “Yes.” She smiled and followed him into the house. N

“I’ve missed you, Danny.” Chloe purred, her perfectly manicured fingers grazing his shirt. “What are you doing here? And how did you even get in?” Daniel asked but remained seated, his tone anything but harsh. As much as he hated to admit, some of him still wanted Chloe. Maybe it was the loneliness… “I’ve always had your passcode, Danny. You gave it to me, Remember?” She shrugged and walked to where he sat, and made herself comfortable beside him. “Well, you look a mess.” She sighed, pushing her hair backward as she took a good look at him. His hair was disheveled, and he was dressed in a pair of black sweatpants and a blue tank top on a weekday. He looked…unemployed. “What are you doing here, Chloe?” He repeated, ignoring her comment. Chloe sighed and leaned into the chair, scooting closer to him. “I’ve missed you.” She whispered. Daniel paused, internally conflicted. His body wanted her, but his mind told him she was in trouble. “No. We’re not together anymore.
