He is my mate

It was already too late to escape. I looked at the approaching cars as the first one pulled up in front of me. The doors opened, and I was engulfed in Antonio's familiar scent.

"Blair! thank goodness you're okay." Antonio beamed, pressing me into his chest for a relieving hug. I was quickly huddled into the back seat of the SUV alongside Antonio.

"Tell me everything that happened." Antonio asked softly.

I didn't even know where to start. I told him everything, how I was kidnapped by rogues, and how I was rescued by my mate Aiden Casanova.

Antonio's face hardened. I could tell that he was furious from his face. Antonio, my only brother was eight years older than me. When we lost our parents in the rogue attack, he was just seventeen. He used to be faraway for different training, and that earned him his first position as the commander of the army and now the Alpha.

While I was growing up, we weren't very close to each other, and I spent more time with Olivia who was my age mate.

After taking over the pack, he had worked relentlessly since then. Due to our age gap, and me being sent to live with humans, we didn't get the opportunity to spend much time together. We were not very close, but I knew he cared for me deeply.

He had always supported all my decisions, whether it was about staying back with the humans, or my engagement with Mark. He never objected anything, and respected my decisions.

I sniffed; I could not tell him that his most hated enemy was my mate.

"I was rescued by Aiden Casanova." I said quietly, preparing for the worst.

"What?" His beta Thomas who was sitting in front jumped in surprise, the moment I uttered his name. My wolf was mourning, and tears flowed from my eyes involuntarily. I had no idea how to stop them.

"I don't know how he found me, but I promise he wasn't cruel to me...if he didn't arrive as quickly as he did, those rogues would have......." I broke down in another fresh tears.

"Don't cry my dear. I'm sorry you had to go through this." Antonio sounded miserable. Thomas was eager to question me further, but Antonio stopped him.

"Not now Thomas. She's extremely hurt and tired now. We'll do the questioning later." Antonio commanded and frankly, I was grateful to him. I was not in the mood to talk about it. I didn't want to get him worried about the conversation I heard the rogues having either.

Someone wanted me dead. I wondered who and why.

My whole life had turned into this huge mess because of my so-called mate.

I woke up, after dozing off inside the car. I felt myself being lifted, and I quickly opened my eyes. I realized we had reached home, and Antonio was taking me inside. I could hear Olivia and several others talking around me, but I pretended to still be asleep. I didn't have the energy to narrate my ordeal.

I hurried into the shower as soon as I heard Antonio leave my room. I tried as hard as I could to wash Aiden's touch and smell if possible; his memories.

I suddenly started sobbing for no reason; I had been crying nonstop ever since I escaped. I only hoped I wouldn't have to explain anything to anyone soon.

After my shower, I changed into a grey sweatpant, and an over sized tee. Someone had left a tray of sandwiches, and my stomach growled immediately I set my eyes on them. It was wonderful to have a full stomach after several hours.

I curled up in to the bed, and wipe one more stubborn tear. Fed up with crying amidst exhaustion, I finally fell into a deep sleep.

When I woke up many hours later, the sun shone through the window, casting it's warm rays on my face. I was feeling much better now.

I wondered what Aiden was doing. He must be worried sick about me. I shook my head to dispel the thoughts about him, and brought out my laptop.

They were several emails from Mark saying he has been unable to reach me, and was worried about me.

I replied to him that I had lost my phone, and I would call him once I purchased a new one. Thankfully, he was not the clingy type, and didn't expect me to call everyday.

I was still replying some official emails when I heard a knock on the door. A tearful Olivia walked in.

"I'm so sorry Blair." She apologized, sitting on the bed.

"Excuse me? sorry for what?" I asked while shutting my laptop.

"For not being by your side to protect you. For not paying attention to you in the club. You've suffered so much because of me." Olivia looked distressed.

I suddenly felt a pang of guilt for troubling my friends and family, and for also keeping them in the dark about Aiden. I shifted further and hugged Olivia, tears flowing as usual.

"It's okay Olivia, it wasn't your fault. I was careless, and I should've been more cautious."

After a while I broke the hug and Olivia said.

"We have initiated a level A security for the pack grounds." She beamed.

A level A was the top level security for the pack. The entire border sealed, and checkpoints for those who needed to go outside for school or work.

Otherwise, no one could leave or enter the pack grounds. Trespassers would be shot, or arrested. Warriors and guards would be prowling around the vicinity, with survelliance cameras surveying the area.

It was no wonder Aiden didn't come for me. I cursed myself for having such thoughts. But I couldn't help thinking about him all the time. The mate bond was getting stronger.

Olivia held my hand gently, and asked cautiously. "They'll be formal questioning later, but you can share anything with me if you wish. Antonio could not bring himself to ask. Were you raped?"

I shook my head expressing a no, and Olivia heaved a sigh of relief.

"We had hoped you weren't hurt. were you hurt?"

"Just some bruises. They've healed already. I was rescued by Aiden Casanova."

"Well about that, Antonio is mad about that. He thinks Aiden kidnapped you." Olivia whispered.

"He didn't kidnap me." I yelled, cutting her off. "He rescued me from the rogues, and wanted to take me away with him, though against my wish. But I managed to escape, and the rest is history." I explained.

Olivia blinked, "he was taking you along , against your wish? Sounds like kidnapping to me . Well it's against the rules, and Antonio is not happy about it. He is planning to take this up with the werewolves council. It could also means war."

I sighed; I could not keep it a secret any longer , especially now that it could cause another war.

"It was not his fault entirely. it's a bit complicated." I fumbled.

"It's complicated? Make me understand." Olivia asked puzzled.

I braced myself and said. "You remember that guy I bumped into at the party? The one who had me running like a maniac? He is Aiden Casanova, and he is my mate."

"What?!" The look of horror and surprise on Olivia's face indicated that everything was now messed up beyond control.
