Narrow escape

Aiden did as he said, and didn't touch me. Rather I soon dozed off after my head touched the pillow. My tiredness finally caught up with me.

I woke up quite early. Aiden's side of the bed was empty. The disheveled state of the bed showed that he had left the bed recently. I kinda felt extremely lonely and disappointed as If waking up before m e was illegal .

The bathroom door suddenly opened, and Aiden stepped out of the shower, shaved and the towel struggling to cover his body . I had once seen him almost naked, but now it teased me to see his perfect biceps. He smirked, knowing I liked what I saw. It was then I realized I must have been gawking like a beggar. I turned away, averting my gaze. He was busy talking while getting ready.

"I'll be very busy today, pumpkin." Aiden said, throwing the towel off his body, and exposing his perfectly taut bum. I blushed, even though I was a wolf, and nudity meant nothing to me.

He got dressed up in a blue shirt, and black trousers. "You'll stay in my room, and listen to Ava and Alexa. I have assigned them to teach you the everything you need to know concerning the pack."

"Am I even allowed to go out at all? Can't I talk to anyone!" I asked sarcastically.

"You're not in prison, Blair. I'm just trying to keep you safe. please just try to abide by my instructions. Right now, you've not been marked, and it could be quite dangerous."

I glared at him.

"If you need anything, you can let me know." He quickly looked at me, while buckling his belt.

"Can I get a phone? I lost mine when I was kidnapped and didn't get the time to buy another one. I need to have an internet connection, and catch up with work."

He simply nodded.

"You will get a phone, and my beta, Damon will help you connect to the wifi."

He approached the bed, and leaned forward, planting a kiss on my forehead . Before I realized what was happening, he walked away.

Damn! I whispered, trying to catch my breath.

I wandered around his suite for a while, and just when my tummy grumbled, symbolizing hunger, there came a knock at the door. Alexa and Ava came in, alongside another woman.

They smelled the air.

Each woman was carrying a tray, covered with golden plates. My stomach growled hungrily, and the other woman laughed.

"You must be starving. Luna, my name is sunshine." The woman introduced herself, bowing. " I'm sure he fed you very well, but not with food." She winked.

"Sunshine!" Alexa scolded her.

"I'm sorry Luna. I'm such a talkative. I was human before the beta Damon, changed me. Sometimes it gets into my head." She gave another piece of unnecessary information.

"You're the beta's mate? " I asked looking curiously at the human.

I got the feeling she giggled alot. She looked fragile, with her short brown hair, and blue eyes.

Her clothing portrayed a lot of color. I smiled at her, as much as I could. "Well, you didn't lie. I am very hungry, you're correct about that. Please call Blair, this Luna is too formal."

She grinned back at me. She was dazzling.

The women put the trays down, and I was surprised to see the delicious meal. Bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, bread....

Everything suits for a rich breakfast.

"I just thought since you're from England, you'll like this." Ava said.

I smiled. I never had enough time to make such a large breakfast before going to work.

"It's lovely. I really appreciate it." I smiled.

"You all should join me instead. This is too much for only me."

"Oh no! It's simply rude. We can't possibly eat in the Alpha's chamber with you!" Alexa shrilled.

"Why not? I don't like eating alone, and the Alpha is out. So....."

They made eye contact amongst themselves, but I couldn't wait any longer. I was already stuffing my mouth with food. I complimented the chef within me. The food was very tasty.

I ate until my stomach felt like bursting. I enjoyed their company, at least I didn't have to think about certain things.

"Soooo tell me everything about your Alpha. I know absolutely nothing about him ." I asked

They stole quick glances at each other, as if thinking about who was to start the conversation.

"Our alpha is very fair and considerate. Our pack has never witnessed his type before. Financially, he's A+. But he has been alone for so many years now. It has not been easy for him, until he met you."

I bowed my head in guilt. It was not my fault that I was faraway, and never met him.

"Luna, did you at least try to find your mate? Even if It was just once."

"I...I did. I even attended a few mating balls when I came around for the holidays, but I think destiny has a way of doing things.

"How romantic!" Sunshine shrilled, giving me a big grin.

"Anyways, I am glad you are finally here. Alpha had to deal with a lot of crap since he was younger, considering the condition of his mother...." Sunshine stopped abruptly, covering her mouth tightly.

Ava gave her a stern look.

I was confused. If his mother was still alive, how come he never talked about her?

"Excuse me? What happened to his mother."

"Well, it'll be preferable if the alpha tells you himself." Ava said, eyeing sunshine

"But I really need to know now. Why don't you tell me about her? He won't hear about it, I promise." I persisted.

"Alright. His mother, the former Luna, was very sweet and kind, loved by all who met her. After her mate the Alpha died, she almost ran mad with grief. She doesn't come out any longer, and doesn't entertain visitors. She lives in the home of the previous Alpha.

I suddenly felt pity for Aiden. He went through the same childhood trauma as me.

"She lives alone?"

"She's not mentally stable. She suffers a great deal, and needs people to care for her. The alpha visits her sometimes, but she doesn't seem to recognize anyone. Even if she does, the past drags her back."

"That's so sad. I'm sorry to hear that." I had no idea how to respond to this piece of information. I also learnt that Aiden had a sister, and that she had moved with her mate, being the alpha of the redwood pack. So that explains why Aiden was at the beach house that day.

I was very happy when the women left. I enjoyed their company, but I needed a quiet time to myself.

Damon had given me a laptop , and a phone. I spent the rest of my day, catching up with emails and transferring contacts, and blocking my credit cards which I lost the last time.

When I was sure I was alone, I wandered into Aiden's study to call mark. My heart was beating abnormally. I was not sure of what I was supposed to say.

"Sweetheart! Where have you been hiding? I've been worried sick. " Marks voice sounded.

I closed my eyes and felt a pang of guilt. I wasn't sure of who I was cheating on now. Everything was just mixed up.

"I am okay mark. I lost my phone and I couldn't get a new one. We really need to talk."

"Alright darling, you can tell me everything." He sounded worried.

"Uhmm I'm visiting one of my aunt's here, and she lives where there's barely internet connection. I don't want you to worry Incase you're not able to reach me." I lied. It's not everything that could be discussed on phone.

"Alright darling. I'll miss you though. I wish you were here."

"I...I miss you too." I stammered, ending the call. I heard the door open, and I was happy I was smart enough to make the conversation as snappy as possible. I hope he didn't hear anything.
