•Juliet POV•

James slowly pulled away from the kiss, our faces still only inches apart. Droplets of water trickled down his forehead, catching the glint of moonlight. His eyes, burning with something deeper than desire, met mine with a quiet intensity. As his hands stayed on my waist, warm and firm under the surface of the water.

“Juliet,” he murmured, his voice low, almost uncertain. “I've been waiting to get a response from you, I just want to know that you'll be my girl?”

I blinked, my heart slamming against my chest. A mix of emotions swelled within me, joy, nervousness, a flicker of fear. But as I looked at him, wet hair plastered to his forehead, tattoos glistening, and those amber eyes holding only me in their gaze, I felt a calm wash over me.

A small laugh escaped my lips as I rested my hand on his shoulder, the muscles beneath my palm taut with anticipation.

“Yes,” I whispered, smiling up at him. “I just hope you won’t break my heart.”
