Connor and I sat on the edge of the cliff. It's a long way down, and I'm terribly afraid of heights. But sitting next to him, height no longer scares me, knowing he'll catch me if I fall.
Fear has no control over me with Connor next to me. He is my savior, and I trust that he will always protect me.
We sat there silently, gazing at the mountains. Frequently, I would find myself admiring his beauty.
Connor caught me. He turned toward me, smiling, showing his perfectly pearly white teeth.
Noticing them, I didn't realize how sharp his canine teeth were. They were a very attractive fangs.
I ran a hand through my hair shyly. He'd caught me.
Soon, I was very curious to know more about his kind.
"Why did your family choose to dwell here?" I asked.
I should have been pleased that he chose here, for we never would have met, but the thought of someone wanting to dwell in a land that makes you feel like you're dwelling in a dome with barely any sunlight. I needed to know.
"My sister is soon to deliver a new member of the pack. Here was chosen because of its smaller population, for a werewolf pup is not easy to take care of. At a younger age, they're not as easy to hide their identity as older and mature werewolves.
Speaking with Connor, I never realized how peaceful and safe his voice was in his human form, that I could imagine myself listening to him speak every day.
"Other than advanced senses, strength, and being very fast, what more is to know about your kind?" I was intrigued to learn more.
The gaze of his dark eyes lowered to the depth of the hill, and he smiled once more, leaving me no choice but to stare at his attractive fangs.
"Other than being immortal. I can sense emotion in humans without them telling me how they feel. I'm just a beast hiding in human skin. Other than my human skin, there's nothing human about me, not even my smile, for werewolves can't show a smile in the way humans do. From a younger age, we mimic human behavior to blend in amongst your kind until it grows on us, knowing when to use them. But we do give a candid grin--which looks like a smile. It means we are no harm and are trying to be friendly."
"I'm 100 percent animal, I can't be tamed, and I'm danger itself." His attention returned to me.
I should be fleeing from him by his explanation of being some untamed, dangerous beast, and the only human about him is his skin. He's hiding his true form within. But I'm bothered mostly that he was immortal.
"So one day I will die, leaving you." Immediately, I stood up.
I wanted to be immortal too, so we could be together forever.
He stood up as well.
"How can I be one of your kind? I want us to be together forever." I hugged him.
"I can't do that; I'm already breaking the rule of being with you."
"But if this makes you feel better. While I'm immortal, I can be mortal like you by choosing to continue aging," he gently placed his arms around me, hugging me back.
"I can never allow you to give up your immortal life for me." I lift my head from his hard and warm chest.
"You're worth every dangerous decision in my life." He kissed me on the forehead.
"So does that mean I'm worth breaking another rule in becoming one of your kind?" I asked.
"Don't push your luck," he responded with a smirk.
I smiled.
"We have to return to the school; Kara or my brothers might be looking for me. We can't allow them or any of my kind to find out about us," he said.
I nodded.
I was startled at the unimaginable speed he quickly picked me up in his arms, bridal style.
Seeing how amazed I was at it, he grinned proudly.
Within the blink of an eye, we were at the back of the school.
I looked around, not getting over how fast he was. I don't think I'll be able to get used to it.
He gently put me down, and soon he began to walk off.
"Connor," I called, stopping him. He spun around.
"When are we going to see each other again?" I asked eagerly.
It was hard being separated from the one who only loved me. I wanted to be by his side always--to go wherever he goes, but because of his kind forbidden rule. I worry when I'll ever get to be near him again.
"I'm always with you even when you don't think I am," he said.
I smiled, and he disappeared from my sight.
When I went into the school building, our school swimming team's opponents had already left.
Dims-Wood High won, thanks as usual to the captain of the swimming team, Bryson. When he's in the water, he is like a fish.
The hallway was filled with students happily lifting Bryson around in the air. As they cheered happily, my eyes went over to Connor's locker to see him staring back at me.
Instantly, I remembered what he said, "I'm always with you even when you don't think I am."
I smiled.
He secretly returned my smile right before walking off with Kara and his brothers.

Being in love is a beautiful feeling, but when that love is broken by that special someone, it hurts so bad.I did not shower when I arrived home, nor was I able to eat or sleep that night. The following day, I chose not to attend school. Crying the entire night had made my face very puffy.Yesterday evening, when I left Connor in the schoolyard, I thought I'd come to my apartment to see him to end the unbearable pain in my heart by promising that he'll never leave me for some mate the moon had destined him to be with. But he didn't, nor did he call or text.I should have known that someone like me being with Connor would never last, for he was too good for me.I awoke from my bed to a noise at my window, upon which I realized I had fallen asleep. My eyes crossed the large clock on the wall as I sat up in the bed, seeing it was 12 pm.I thought it was a bird poking at its own reflection in the glass window, but then I saw a pebble hit it, and then another.Still in my clothes from yes
It's Monday, the start of a new school week.As I got out of my car, Connor appeared from nowhere and pulled me towards him."I've been thinking about doing this all night," Connor said as he had me lean backward. He then kissed me.When his lips departed from mine, I saw everyone on the school compound, with shock in their eyes, gasping at us. I was more surprised than they were at Connor's action."I thought we were going to keep our relationship a secret, to not allow the werewolf councils to find out," I said."They're 30 seas away from us; why bother to hide when my family and I are the only werewolves around here?" responded Connor, coming in for another kiss.Everyone's eyes were on us when we walked into the school and along the hallways holding hands. I glimpsed Bryson with his girlfriend Elena. They both stared at us, upset.Connor and I were the talk of the school. No one could seem to believe that he and I were dating; neither did I as well."I bought something for you at
We go to his room. It has huge, dark glass windows giving a good view into the woods.I saw that his bed is just a large mattress lying on the floor."I'm tired of buying a new bed base." Connor noticed me staring at it."Why not buy a metal bed base then?" I suggested."They also break after a while," Connor said, and I am stunned by how powerful he is.We sit lowly on his mattress on the floor."Your cousin Kara and sister will never like me, will they?" I asked, seeing that they were the ones already finding it hard to accept our relationship.Connor got up from the bed, and I watched as he walked towards one of the square glass windows."My sister will eventually do it, but I'm not sure about Kara.""She isn't my cousin, Amara. She's a werewolf I saved not long ago and made a part of my family pack," he said, turning around towards me."She's in love with you, isn't she?" I had to ask, feeling there was more to her hatred of me being a human, dating Connor.Kara was the perfect ma
"Do you think your family will like me?" I asked worriedly as we were at the front door."They'll try to tolerate you and won't kill you for my sake," Connor smiled and said.Shockingly, I looked at him."Please tell me you're playing with me right now?" I asked, scared."Come on, little human, they're waiting, and werewolves do not have any patience." Connor held my hand. The moment we entered the house, I saw his entire family standing in the hallway waiting for us. I felt unbelonging and ugly. They were so beautiful, and their warm skin gleamed a golden glow, compared to my pale skin, which makes me look like I'm always sick.My heart raced at the sight of them. I tried to calm it down, knowing they could hear it and also sense my nervousness at their presence. As Connor had warned me outside, I immediately started receiving cold stares from everyone.Firstly, Connor introduced me to his father, Alpha Valor Flaxborough. I extended a hand to shake his.As he's about to shake it with
Ever since Kara had found out about Connor and me, she'd been constantly giving me a death stare at school.I immediately looked away from her, terrified as I went into my locker.Receiving Connor's love, I had obtained the worst enemy: a werewolf that hated my guts for dating her kind. After the horrible incident I had with Kara in the hallway, I tried to avoid meeting her there at all costs. I exited the bathroom, walking as fast as I could along the hallway back to my second session. As I'm about to walk past the exact place she'd stopped me before bringing me to the top of the roof to throw me off. I froze at an inhuman touch."Will you go out on a date with me this Saturday?" I heard Connor behind me, and I'm no longer terrified. I spun around, smiling to meet his eyes."Yes," I answered."Great, I'll pick you up at noon." He was beaming back at me.We stood staring into each other's eyes, remaining to smile. The school bell rang, and I loathed that it did, disrupting my time wi
Bryson isn’t at school. Thankfully, I don’t have to sit with Elena and his friends, especially after what had happened to her today.Elena stood up from her lunch table.“Whosoever throws the bucket of mess unto me. I promise that when I find out who you are, I will ruin your life, and you will wish you were never born!” She shouted angrily.Shortly, I got a text message from Connor. I opened it to read.Bear, coyote filth, and skunk pee, she should say —he’d texted what was inside the bucket he'd thrown on Elena.I burst out into laughter.Immediately, I stopped laughing when I noticed Elena, who was now staring at me furiously. My heart started racing as she began to march toward my table, quickly.“Who are you laughing at, loser?” She asked with great fury, looking down at me, frozen from fear in my seat.I became silent, too afraid to speak.“It must be you who had done it to me,” she then said and extended a hand to grab me by the hair. I closed my eyes, scared, and I opened them
