"Do you think your family will like me?" I asked worriedly as we were at the front door.

"They'll try to tolerate you and won't kill you for my sake," Connor smiled and said.

Shockingly, I looked at him.

"Please tell me you're playing with me right now?" I asked, scared.

"Come on, little human, they're waiting, and werewolves do not have any patience." Connor held my hand.

The moment we entered the house, I saw his entire family standing in the hallway waiting for us. I felt unbelonging and ugly. They were so beautiful, and their warm skin gleamed a golden glow, compared to my pale skin, which makes me look like I'm always sick.

My heart raced at the sight of them. I tried to calm it down, knowing they could hear it and also sense my nervousness at their presence.

As Connor had warned me outside, I immediately started receiving cold stares from everyone.

Firstly, Connor introduced me to his father, Alpha Valor Flaxborough. I extended a hand to shake his.

As he's about to shake it with a small smile. Connor told his father to be gentle with me and that if he isn't, he could break my hand.

He shook my hand very softly, and I saw where Connor had inherited his good looks from. Alpha Valor is like an older and more mature version of Connor, which shows that Connor will be even more handsome in his older days. He was also the same height as him.

Though Alpha Valor was 1000 years old, he looked in his early 30s.

None of them looked their age. His mother, Luna Emmaline, looked in her 20s, the second leader of his family's small pack. She has blonde hair. The greenest eyes I'd seen. She's also tall but not as tall as the male and has a voluptuous body. All the she-wolves seem to have a curvy body, a large bust, and the ideal buttock size, which makes me wonder why Connor chose an uncurvy and ordinary-looking human girl like me.

Dalia, his sister, was a younger image of her mom; she looked 18, and also her husband, Beta Amir Grage, was considered the third leader of the pack. He had short, wavy brunette hair and eyes that make you think of the clear blue sky whenever you look at them.

As I extend a hand to lastly shake Dalia.

She spoke out angrily, "I can't pretend anymore, Mom, knowing Connor's stupid action is endangering our pack."

I draw back my hand at my side, feeling bad already, knowing they'll never accept me. But I'm used to not being accepted. My own father abandoned me because I wasn't what he wanted, a boy, and my mother loathes me for it. Still, I could never get used to the feeling of being unaccepted.

"And out of all the humans you've chosen to date in having us all killed, you've chosen the ugliest one." Dalia stormed off, and her mate went right behind her.

Hurt by her words, I felt Connor hold my hand, comforting me, and I noticed Kara as well walking away with a loathful look.

"My daughter is pregnant. A she-wolf is very miserable during that stage, so whatever she says to you is just her hormones speaking," said Connor's mom.

I nodded, but I believed every word about me being ugly. Which still puzzled me as to what Connor sees in choosing me out of all the good-looking girls he could have had.

"If you ever break my son's heart, human. I'll rip your throat open and watch you bleed to death," Connor's mother warned me, taking me from my chains of thought.

My eyes opened as I watched her eyes glow a dark yellow.

"Mom, please don't threaten my girlfriend," Connor said, pulling me closer to his side as if protecting me from an unexpected attack from her.

Her Alpha mate came by her side, wrapping an arm around her waist while her eyes glowed brighter.

"I won't, I promise," I stuttered, afraid.

"I love Connor and will never hurt him, and of course, your family secret is safe with me."

Her eyes dimmed and returned to their sharp green color.

"Good," she said with a smile, and I took a deep breath in and exhaled in relief that she'd calmed down.

"Connor says you're a vegetarian," she went on to say.

"Yes, ma'am," I said.

"Please call me Emmeline."

I nodded, and I realized how perfect of a pair Connor's mom and his father were, compared to Connor and me. Connor's mother's beauty was right for Connor's dad. I, on the other hand, was too ugly for Connor.

The alpha and Luna walked from the hall.

I looked at Connor to see if it was a good idea to be here, and as if he could read my mind, "It's safe to follow them," he said.

We walked into a spacious, brown and white dining room. It had a stylish glass chandelier hanging over a long table with several chairs.

Kara sat around the table with her eyes glued to her phone and so engrossed in what's on the screen, she didn't pay attention to anyone as they were coming to join her at the table. Dalia sneers at me once she sees me. Her mate touched her shoulder to calm her down.

I wanted to leave.

"It was hard preparing vegetarian food for you since we're all carnivores in this house, but thankfully I managed to," said Luna Emmeline.

I no longer wanted to leave, not wanting to be rude after all the trouble she went through to prepare a meal specially for me.

Connor helped me into my chair, and before me is a bowl of salad.

"Thank you," I said.

"I hope you liked it." Emmaline sat down.

Connor sat beside me, and I noticed the large plates of cooked meat: chicken, steak, beef, and pork.

I looked for any side dish, such as mashed potatoes or rice. There was nothing except for meat and water.

As though Connor had warned me that there was nothing human about him other than his skin. At that very moment, I truly came to realize that I wasn't dating just a male who shifts into a wolf the size of a moose, but an animal that wears a skin to hide his true identity to blend in with us humans.

Connor was truly more of an animal. I studied him as he tore off the flesh from the chicken bone in one bite and started wolfishly on another.

My eyes went away from him when the table started shaking as the triplet fought for the largest piece of pork."

"We have company; try to act respectfully around the table," Connor's mom shouts, and immediately they freeze and go back to eating normally.

"They've had enough pretending outside of this house, Mom, and now you're making things harder for them by forcing us to eat this disgusting cooked meat instead of raw. Let them eat as they want and not because of some filthy human; Connor decided to sacrifice our entire pack for," complained Dalia.

I was astonished at the fact that they all ate raw meat.

The alpha growled to shut her up, and I felt every hair rise on my skin.

Connor saw me shaking at how terrified I was at his father's growl. Immediately, he excused us from around the table.

As I walked away with Connor, I saw Kara glaring at me.

We go to his room. It has huge, dark glass windows giving a good view into the woods.I saw that his bed is just a large mattress lying on the floor."I'm tired of buying a new bed base." Connor noticed me staring at it."Why not buy a metal bed base then?" I suggested."They also break after a while," Connor said, and I am stunned by how powerful he is.We sit lowly on his mattress on the floor."Your cousin Kara and sister will never like me, will they?" I asked, seeing that they were the ones already finding it hard to accept our relationship.Connor got up from the bed, and I watched as he walked towards one of the square glass windows."My sister will eventually do it, but I'm not sure about Kara.""She isn't my cousin, Amara. She's a werewolf I saved not long ago and made a part of my family pack," he said, turning around towards me."She's in love with you, isn't she?" I had to ask, feeling there was more to her hatred of me being a human, dating Connor.Kara was the perfect ma

I woke up to the aroma of fried egg wafting into my room.I came out of bed, descending the stairs into the kitchen.I smiled when I saw Connor at the stove making a sandwich: adding fried egg, lettuce, slices of tomato, and finally a slice of cheese. He lifted his head, smiling back at me."Breakfast is ready." He poured out a cup of tea, placing it next to the sandwich on top of the kitchen counter.Immediately, I went to sit in the counter chair.I picked up the sandwich, ready to take a bite, but I became nervous to see Connor watching me."Aren't you going to eat as well?" I asked, beaming shyly."I prefer to watch you eat," he said.Nervously, I took the smallest bite, trying to eat as decently as I could before him.I stopped chewing as Connor wiped away melted cheese from my lips."Remember, I have a surprise for you," he said, licking the cheese from his finger.I stared hard at him, shocked at what he'd just done.
