Lira’s POV

Slowly, my eyes blink open in a hospital room. My brows furrow in confusion as I wonder what brought me here, until I remember everything that happened in the past twenty-four hours.

Damn… I shifted into my wolf for the first time ever, and it is no ordinary wolf.

A legendary white wolf?!

I don’t even know if I should be excited or not. I have longed to have a wolf forever, and now that I finally do, I don’t feel excited at all. Maybe it’s because I’m just so sad about everything—sad about the fact that Rylan is my fated mate, and yet I still can’t be with him.

The door slides open and Rylan steps in, his expression unreadable. “You’re awake?” he asks, standing beside me. The atmosphere between us is painfully awkward.

I swallow hard and mumble, “Yes.” I quickly look away from him.

I try to push myself up, but my bones ache so badly that I let out a painful gasp and fall back onto the bed.

“Easy,” Rylan says, holding me down gently. “Your bones are still weak. They haven’t

“Good,” she says softly. “What did I tell you to always do when things get tough?”I swallow past the thick lump in my throat, my breathing comes out in short, uneven gasps. “You said I should always remain strong even in the face of death. You said crying and worrying won't solve the problem, but a calm and positive mind would think about a way forward.”She nods, smiling in satisfaction. “Good.” Her eyes broke with unshed tears. “You have to remain calm and positive, baby. This is going to be a tough phase for our family, but I bet you, we are coming out of this stronger.”“Yes, Mama,” I murmur, my voice barely audible. Just then, the door slams open with an intensity that makes it seem like it is going to pull out of its hinges. We snap our head back to see Silas standing there, his jaw tight.“The Alpha wants you in the courtyard now,” he says, his voice hard. “It is time for your judgement.”I look back at mom, eyes wide as terror courses through me. I hold her hand tightly. “W

Lira’s POV“It has been discovered that your mother was framed by someone of a higher rank,” Gamma Lucas whispers, his voice barely audible as his eyes dart around nervously.Of course, this is confidential information, and no one should hear it—it could put him and his family in danger. The moment I called him earlier, he came immediately. He said he had been working tirelessly to get Mother released, but all his efforts had been futile. There is concrete evidence against her—evidence that claims she used Pack money to cover personal expenses. All three of us walk down the hallway toward the holding cells where Mother is being interrogated. Gamma Lucas had to bribe that bastard, Alec, before he allowed us into the palace. He told us we must sneak in and out, which is why we won’t be able to see the king.I wonder who exactly ordered Mother’s arrest—and what they stand to gain from it.Before we enter the holding cell, he turns to us.“You have only ten minutes to speak to your mother

Lira’s POVMom is not picking up. I have called more than twenty times. Now… I’m scared.I quickly pack a few clothes and, without telling anyone—my roommates are not around—I board a taxi to the Lunarstrike Pack.As I walk toward our mansion, the way the pack members stare at me—some with disgust in their eyes, some with pity, and others with heavy frowns, whispering behind cupped lips—tells me that something is wrong, and I quickly increase my pace. When I get to the mansion, I press down on the bell, and within minutes, Amara opens the door. She stands there with swollen eyes, like she has been crying all day. Her mouth parts open in disbelief.“My lady,” she cries out and runs into me. “Thank the Goddess you are here.”“What happened?” I ask, my chest pounding and my hands trembling slightly as I wrap them around her. “Where is Mother?”She pulls back and swallows hard, trying to stifle her tears. “The guards came to arrest her this morning, saying that she embezzled the pack’s fu

Rylan’s POVI stare at Seraphina Graves seated before me, her full body on display. She doesn’t even look like a princess at all. One would think she is one of those strippers at a clubhouse—but then, I am not the type to judge someone based on how they dress. Moreover, I used to like ladies who dressed like this in the past—until I met Lira, and my taste changed completely. Now, it makes me cringe, especially since my wolf won’t stop growling in irritation, urging me to leave and stop staring at another woman’s body. But I need to let him know that Lira is in our past now—and she will remain there. In fact, he needs to start getting used to Seraphina Graves as soon as possible, because if everything goes well, she will be our new mate.“Alright,” she says. “I will marry you on one condition.”My chest tightens at her words. I wonder what condition she would give now. Is it something I can meet?I push myself up and lean forward. “What is it, Princess?” I ask softly.“Well, I don’t wa

Author’s POVOf course, the Alpha couldn’t believe his son’s words. He stared at him for a long moment, the pain in his eyes tugging at his heart. He wondered what had happened between them that had left Rylan this broken. He never would have believed that they had finally broken up. That was how young adults behaved—they broke up and came back together once they realized they couldn’t truly do without each other. But this felt different. This felt serious. The king was dying to know what had actually happened, but from his son’s expression, he could deduce that Rylan didn’t want to talk about it.“You know you don’t want to marry Seraphina, son,” Alpha Charles said softly. “Besides, I think you should heal from your heartbreak before rushing into another relationship.”“There is nothing to heal from, Father. Time is ticking so fast. And yes, I have to marry Seraphina if that’s what it takes for me to become king. I must become king, Father,” Rylan said firmly. The king nodded but cou

Rylan’s POVAt first, I thought Lira was just fooling around with the letter. I thought that now that she knew we were fated mates, she would change her mind about us.But with what happened today, it is now crystal clear that she wants nothing to do with me. Her voice, her gaze, and her words hint that she has wanted to break up with me for the longest time, even though I tried to convince myself that she didn’t mean it. Even though I tried to convince myself that I might have done something wrong—or that something must have prompted her decision.Lira’s words didn’t just pierce my chest. They burned me from the inside out. They burned so fiercely that I felt like dying—like ending it all.But I won’t.I will become strong enough not to go back to her. Yes, I will free her this time since she wants to leave so desperately. She is right about everything, and because I love her, I won’t let her settle for the barest minimum. As I walk out of the hospital, my legs feel so weak—like they
