CHAPTER TWENTY

Nora laid on her bed trying to get some sleep. But no matter how long she tries, sleep seems to be miles away from her. Frustrated, she got up and walked to the window. She stared into space.

She heard a knock on her door. She wondered who it could be. She was sure her mother would still be chatting with Lucas by now, and her father would probably be in the study with his head buried in piles of files.

"Who is it?" She asked.

"It's me," came the response from the other side of the door.

She recognized the voice to be her father's. She wondered if she had perhaps done something wrong and was going to be scolded.

"Come in dad," she said as she mentally prepared herself for what might happen next.

The door creaked open and Alex walked in with a tray of food in his hands. She was a bit surprised by the gesture. She hurried to him and was quick to collect the tray from him. She placed it on the small table in front of the couch. She proceeded to sit on the couch.
