ALEX’S POV
“Michael, we need to empty this hall…”
“Okay… wait? Why?” Michael replied with a frown.
“This is the place we will perform The Phoenix Ritual.”
“You are kidding, right? I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that Eva was a vampire. Now, you want to tell me that she will regain her powers and be
Eva’s POVI was sitting on my bed, leaning against the headrest. My fingers clenched against the edges of the Ancient Book Of Rituals as I read the procedure for the Phoenix Ritual for the umpteenth time. My brain and turned blank. It was as if I was reading the words but nothing was going into my brain. I felt like I was forgetting more and more. I slammed the book shut in frustration.I was feeling a bit restless and uncertain. What if something went wrong? What if we missed some part of the ritual and ended up plunging the world into more misery and darkness. Was it worth the risk?
ALEX’S POVI had made up my mind to offer my life as the required sacrifice. I hadn’t expected the spirit to decline my offer. So, I didn’t think about any backup plan. I looked at Eva guiltily, I had failed her again.Just then a beam of light appeared out of nowhere in the room and hovered in front of me. It was the same one that had guided me out of the tunnel.
EVA'S POVAfter I saw the beam of the light blaze in the inferno, a kind of frenzy took over me. My throat burnt like scorching cinders. A sweet smell enthralled me, drawing me towards it. One moment I was inhaling the fragrance and the next I was near its source. The throbbing of the pulse was the only thing I could focus on. I knew that it alone could quell the burning sensation in my throat. I took a deep breath and was about to tear the smooth skin with my teeth when someone ambushed
ALEX'S POVI felt so bad about doing this to Eva but I had no choice. She looked so crazed by the blood that it scared the shit out of me. I didn’t want to lose her… I didn’t want her to turn into a monster…We had set out to destroy the monsters that destroy innocent lives but had we become one ourselves? Tears pricked my eyes as I carried her to my room. I had lost my son today and didn’t want to lose my wife too.
EVA'S POVWhen I woke up, I found myself alone in the room. My throat burned like lava but I reminded myself that I had to control myself. I threw open the window and peeked outside, wondering where Alex was?I couldn’t hear his heartbeats in the house which meant that he was away. I heard another heart beating in a room downstairs. My thirst flared but I managed to control it. The was glad that the charm was working… I sensed that the heartbeats were drawing closer. Why was Aaron co
ALEX’S POVI calmed my frayed nerves by taking deep breaths. I felt a bit drained after fighting three vampires. So I didn’t feel that confident at present. I peeked through the keyhole. Only one man was standing at the door. I could handle that. Wait… was that man wearing velvet clothes? Did that mean he was a Golden Shifter? But, why would a Golden Shifter knock at the door, they would just come in through the window or any open space they find especially if they intended to
ALEX'S POVI found Aaron and Eva counting the charm bracelets when I entered the hall. “Gosh! Why do we need so many?” I asked with a puzzled expression. “We enchanted all the bracelets we could find in the supermarket. Master is meditating. So, we were just counting them to keep a track of the bracelets.” Eva said shrugging her shoulders. I couldn’t help but chuckle at this statement. Holding my stomach I said, “You too. I am sure the news channel wil
ALEX’S POVI took a deep breath and asked my first question, “Now that you can control your bloodlust, will you still kill humans?”“Ummm… I don’t know how effective this charm is. I will try to abstain from killing people but I can’t guarantee anything.”I tasted the energy field around him, trying to test if he was being truthful. I couldn’t sense any deceit.
