EVA'S POV
My hand flew to the Alexart around my neck as I walked through the isolated street that led to the forbidden forest. The sun had set but the sky was azure, darkness had yet to engulf this part of the earth. My grip on the locket tightened as I heard a twig snap behind me. I turned around but there was no one.
By the time I reached the forest, the sun had set and the moon was visible just above the horizon. A reminder of the fact that now, I was just a human. When I was a vampire I could reach the forest from my house within minutes.
My heart fluttered like crazy as I saw a silhouette emerge from behind the shadows. He was clad in a long cloak, the hood covered his head. Even his face was hidden by a mask. His sinister eyes were as cold as the frost. When I looked into them I felt like my soul was sucked out of me. A gasp escaped as my hand flew to my mouth. Darkness radiated from him. He was certainly the evilest creature I had seen in my entire life. I can say this with conviction as I have encountered Praishe several times in my life. I started walking backward, stumbling many times in
ALEX'S POVI woke up with a start feeling very restless. My head felt heavy. I tried to recall how I had fallen asleep. After drinking the glass of milk Eva gave, I started feeling dizzy. So, I had slept early.“Eva is in danger!” I muttered. I was shocked at my own words. How did I know that? I just had a strong feeling that she was in danger. I turned to look at the other side of the bed to find it empty. My heart skipped a beat. Was Eva really in danger? I felt an urgency to find her.
EVA'S POVI was stunned when Alex slammed the door at my face. I tried to recall what I had done. Oh no! I had accidentally told him about our baby. My hands flew to my mouth at this realization. I never intended for him to get this news in this way. Guilt tore at my heart and I slammed my hands on the door.“Alex, please open the door. Give me a chance to explain.” I waited in anticipation for a while but he didn’t open the door. I was flabbergasted. I had never seen him behave like this.
ALEX'S POVMy heart snapped into two when I saw her teary face. How could I remain angry at her for any length of time? She was my life, my soul. I pulled her on to my lap and hugged her. I ran my hand along the length of her back in an attempt to reduce her anxiety. I felt guilty that I had let my anger influence my behavior towards her. I sighed as I reveled in her warmth. I could spend my entire life like this. How I wished we co
EVA’S POV. Alex hadn’t returned for quite some time. I had finished my breakfast and taken a shower too. Opening the wardrobe I was pleasantly surprised to see some of the clothes neatly arranged. Taking out a shirt, I lifted it to my nose. It smelled of lemon. Inhaling deeply, I put on a pair of trousers and a shirt. I had to thank the one who had done this for me. It felt heavenly to wear fresh clothes.I climbed down the stairs humming a tune. For a moment I had forgotten all about the dangers lurking but the somber environment
ALEX'S POVI trotted down the stairs quickly while calling out to Eva, “I am going to check. You don’t have to worry. Remember to climb down the stairs slowly.”When I reached the hall, it was utter chaos. “Michael, help me push this table against the door,” Aaron was saying to Michael. Then, they both got busy pushing the table. Athena came running from another room with a long iron rod in her hand. She
EVA’S POVMy heart came into my mouth when I saw Alex fall down, through the window. I couldn’t let him fight the monster alone. His blows seemed to not affect the creature even the slightest bit. I looked around the room. They all stood still like statues. No one stepped forward to save Alex. I extracted my hands after a struggle, ran to the door, and pushed Michael away. Then I ran breathlessly to the boundary where I had seen Alex with the monster.
I was so relieved to see that it was Liam. But, what was he doing here, in the garage? Shouldn’t he have been inside Dixonville? He took the device from Alex’s hand and said, “I have been working on this for a year. I have developed software that uses AI to decipher languages. I can scan this page and upload the data but I need some clues. Even if we can get meanings of a couple of words, the software can decipher it through common patterns.”Alex looked at me expectantly while I tried to rack my mind and come up with some clue. I felt adrenaline course through me as I recalled the prophecy. I remembered the picture with the prophecy well and I k
